  1. Thanks Big O, went there and looked around last night a bit. I fish Lake Texoma here on the Texas - Oklahoma border. It's my home lake and it's borderline brackish. By that I mean that because there's so much salt flowing into it via the upstream of the Red River and because of the minerals that are produced by an oil rich soil, what we have is a quite salty lake for an inland reservoir. It has stripers and is pretty renowned for the striper fishing. However, threadfin shad abound and flourish in it also. The Bass population is great with largemouth, spots, and smallmouth all in good numbers. The stripers and their voracious feeding tendencies cause the bass to stay relatively shallow and wait for and just lay under the schools of striper waiting for an easy meal when they're cutting shad on the surface. I thought the bulk, the large silhouette, and the amazing tail action of the Ragetail may make it a good fall bait rigged weightless to cast right into the schooling striper. What do ya think?
  2. Great testimony sir. You have my respect and congratulations.
  3. Anyone using these with any success? How about sharing some rigging and retrieve methods that are working for ya? I'm thinking of picking up a bag or two for myself.
  4. I fish the black/red flek texas rigged and the bass seem to relate to it like a craw. I've caught several fish on it and my son caught a six-pounder on it that way once. Try 'em a while and see if they won't produce for ya.
  5. At least 24" and 36-48" even better. Also try twitching up and down instead of side to side. Leave some slack in the line between you and the bait too. Doing these two things should make quite a difference.
  6. Bill's got a whole team of folks that go out ahead of him and locate and then pattern the fish for him before he ever arrives. We all know if the fish are there and are feeding it really doesn't matter much what you throw, you will catch a few. So yea, I'd put my money on the "stink bait" in one of his pre-found areas. Heck for all we know they may have chummed or baited the areas somehow prior to filming. I like ole Bill and have a lot of respect for him. He was one of the pioneers of this sport and was a real oh-fish-eonado back in the day. But his "day" was a lot different than today. I won't be buying one of the eels. I did back in the 80's as well as the craw......and ....remember these?.......The Hannon's Snakebait? Let's face it guys, some baits are designed to catch fish, but most are really designed to catch fishermen. :
  7. I just recently bought two of the Trion GX-7 reels. A 4735 and 4730. Really put the 4730 to the test over the last two days. Matched it with a BPS Micro Lite 7' UL rod, and 6 lb. Trilene XL. Yesterday I caught BIG redears on teeny crankbaits until my arm was sore. Also landed three bass in the 2 lb. range. This morning another 2 lb.'er and it hasn't strained at any of 'em. The only problem I noticed with it was that it didn't cast the light stuff well until I matched it to the UL rod. The 4735 has 8 lb. on it and I've landed a couple of nice 3 lb.'ers on it so far. No problems there either. Both are nice smooth operating reels with a nice smooth drag system on each. I'll be heading out in a few minutes to try them on some hybrids and hopefully a few more bass. Oh yea, I'm a bank fisherman too.
  8. Do the drop shot rigs and the wigglerigs have to be fished vertically or can they be casted. I've seen some video of the wigglerig (I'm growing kinda partial to this one) being used with a craw and it looks like it has been casted and is being dragged more than shaken.
