  1. d**n, those are some SPECIFIC recommendations!!! I can't get out today......but I'm gonna get out there ASAP!! Is that your sketch or did you find it somewhere?? I work like two seconds from the Nip... I take it you go there often? Thanx again!! One more Q. You say water should be warmer near the outlet...how does that make sense? Because it's the northern part of the lake and it gets more sun?? I know there are supposedly a few inlets but they're barely noticeable and as far as I can tell don't have much flow. I've tried fishing near them, hoping for warmer waters, with no luck.
  2. Which one do you mean by the "right" shore?? We launched from the WMA on the other side of the lake, not the paved boat launch. The stream you're talking about is the outlet, right? At the far northern tip of the lake. I still have the boat on the roof of my jeep! Thanx for the advice...I may try that this evening if I can! This weekend we pretty much stayed around the big island. Kept paddling south of the island and letting the wind push us past it. Was trying to hit the deeper water east of the big island, but got all of our action on the west and southwest side of the island??!
  3. Finally caught some fish! Borrowed a 14' canoe from my soon to be father in law and took it out onto lake Nippenicket in Bridgewater on saturday afternoon. Was supposed to be really rainy but we ended up getting sunburnt! The friend that I took with me was not at all familiar with being in a canoe...so I did a lot of paddling! Anyways, at the recommendation of this guy who was pulling his boat out of the water thursday evening and saying that he caught a few bass, we went and picked up some shiners thinking that we would get some of those bass too. Well, we got some good fish, but no bass in the boat. Two decent sized pickerell, first was in the 16-18" range, maybe 2 lbs or so and the second one was closer to 20-22" and probably somewhere in the 2-3 lb range? We didn't bring a camera because we thought it was going to be pouring. At times it got pretty windy so I may have done more paddling than fishing, but it was fun. I really need a bigger boat with a trolling motor to catch more fish!!
  4. It's called taking a Looong lunch, haha!! I work right up the street from a nice fishing pond. No luck as of yet from the shore though!! I hate seeing a bunch of bass boats out in the middle catching fish while I can't get one on the hook from the shore!! I got a couple actual hits, finally, but nothing that stayed on the hook. Borrowing a canoe for the weekend, I don't care if it's raining or not, I'm gonna get out into the middle of the lake and catch some fish!
  5. I have a few pics of Sebago here on my work comp.
  6. What do you mean if you 'could' fish the pond? Is it all private?
  7. Winnipesaukee is nice, and huge, but it is pretty built up, espeically around meridith. There are lots of nice coves and such. Two of my uncles live right off of Winnipesaukee, both have boats, but I haven't fished there so much in recent years. Used to a lot when I was a kid. Sebago and Winnipesaukee are totally different though. Almost to the point that they're apples to oranges! Next time you've got the oportunity to vacation in the lakes region, check out sebago (and the surrounding lakes too). Less built up (but, like everything, getting there) and it seems to me less boat traffic.
  8. Well I haven't fished Sebago enough to really give you a "statistically significant" answer, but for what it's worth, I've mostly caught smallies there. Being such a large lake there is pretty much every type of habitat for fish that they could dream of! I'm sure they love it in there!! Also, even though I've got family with a boat there (bow rider) I bass fish from shore, in some areas with great success! The middle of the lake is good for trolling for trout and salmon. Like you said, big trout and salmon lake, and from what I've gathered that's what the majority of people are gunning for there....which maybe is why the bass are easy pickins?
  9. Hey, what is the difference between that yo-zuri and say, and original floating rapala? Does it run deeper? You said that is sinks slowly, but I just googled it and it said that it's a floater....which lead me to believe it's basically a rapala from a different company (correct me if I'm wrong). Also, how did you fish the yo-zuri? Hard jerks, crank, pause, repeat in an irregular pattern like you (I) would with a rapala? How about the senko? I just moved to SE MA from western MA for work and my work is right up the street from what is allegedly a great bass pond (Nippenicket). I tried the shore there from about 2-3pm today with no luck. I've been itching to get out and catch some fish!! Last fall when I first got down here I fished the shore a handful of times and every time I'd get pickerell of moderate to decent size on original rapalas and tube jigs (all the gear I had with me when I had just moved). I've read that surface stuff is no good in early spring? /sorry for the hi-jack, I got lotsa Qs!
  10. Looks similar to some ponds that I fish by canoe. This season I'm gonna start using a kayak so I can get into even tighter stuff!!
  11. It's cause the MWRA is a bunch of communists idiots. They wiped out 4 towns with eminent domain, and they own vast portions of many other surrounding towns and don't give people access to the land!! It's a bunch of BS is what it is!! Communist land grab. I'd be down to come fishing with ya'll though. Even though I despise how they 'manage' the land that WE own at the Quabbin.
  12. What he said. I duno about the rivers down there but when I float the pemi, senkos do the trick!
  13. The Quabbin is very nice, but the limited access is a sad situation. After that I'm pretty fond of Sebago....which aslo has a portion of limited access, but much much smaller than what the Quabbin has.
  14. Thanx man! I guess most people here have real boats or something?? haha.
  15. I was wondering if anyone had any pics of their kayaks setup for fishing. I would like to see how/where people mount their accessories and such so I only do it once!
