Gorham Pond In Dunbarton,nh
A little slow lately, smal bass are easy pickins. Harder to get the big ones to bite. Big bait

The Nip (Nippenicket)
I fish it often from shore in the evening, topwater and texas rigged are a must due to weed and they produce. If you're in a boat you can find the weedlines and run pretty much anything just along the weed edges. In my experience it's hard not to catch some fish at the Nip. There are tons of good spots!!

Ban On Lead In Nh
Depending on where you're fishing, fish and game can roll up on you and be tapping on your shoulder before you even know it!! I fish the winni ice derby (yeah, it's a derby, they bring in the troops for enforcement) and one minute your friends or neighbors are cruising in or out of 'camp' on sleds, the next thing you know it the fish and game are there, they blend right in with everyone else.

Eastern Mass Get Together?
I've seen it and probably won't be able to make anything prior to laborday , and I don't know that pond either (not that I'm ever opposed to trying something new, especially something on the cape!). Next time yall wanna have a get together at the previous location, let me know, I can be of assistance in gaining access to private land abutting the lake for additional trailer parking/whatever.

Transom Transducer On Lund Al Boat?
One more Q on running the wire. I plan on putting the display on the port side, 'ducer on the starboard, and the motor has electric start. How far away from the power wire for the starter (or does it matter) do I need to stay? This is a 20hp honda tiller. Thanx again! Can't wait to mark fish with this thing!

Transom Transducer On Lund Al Boat?
OK, thank for the advice. I'm getting more and more confident that I will be able to do this right, the first time!! I searched google for pics of transom mount transducers and most of what came up were pictures of how NOT to do it...and multiple holes in the transom!! It's my brothers boat, he's letting me borrow it for a week and take it 3 hours away (that's far for us New Englanders) and I'd like for him to let me borrow it again in the future!!!

Transom Transducer On Lund Al Boat?
Thanx Lund Explorer. Is there any other reason for the ducer not to go below the bottom other than hanging up on stuff? I was planning on putting it down below maybe 1/2" or so?? Should be level though, eh? Not really afraid of running stuff over and I believe that it will pop up if it did hit. It's a skimmer transducer made to mount on the transom for a cuda 350.

Transom Transducer On Lund Al Boat?
I was wondering if anyone with an aluminum boat (Lund or otherwise) that has the transducer mounted on the transom could share some pics, especially if they're happy with the mounting!! I think I generally know where to mount it (starboard, ~16" from the motor, away from seams and just below the bottom of the hull) but was wanting to see how other people had had success or places that people didn't like before I drill holes in my brothers boat! This would be going on a 16' lund dlx. Also, I'm wondering how thick the aluminum is and if there is like a hollow part or something? I'm assuming that I'll need to plug the holes with silicone before I put it back in the water. How long does the silicone need to cure? Thanx in advance for any help!!

MA banning lead in 2012
Not news to me and I'm fine with it, I've been using tungsten for a few years and love it. I am much more cautious when I get snagged that I don't lose my ~1 dollar tungsten bullet weight though!! I know in NH the rule for jigs is if it's over 1" long, it's all good. I haven't seen the exact language for MA though so I have no idea if it will be the same.

Any MA anglers....
I've had a busy summer and haven't gotten to fish as much as I would have liked to. I caught my biggest bass, ever, in mid-July, 8.5# 24" larry, from shore!! Only got a crappy cell phone pic, and she went right back into the water to be caught another day. Since then I don't think I haven't caught anything over 3#s, even from the boat!!

Clough pond in Loudon NH... what is a reclaimed pond?
I can't help you with specifics of this particular pond but a reclaimed pond means that they (usually DEP/DES/DEM, etc.) killed off all of the fish there and then re-stocked with a different species.

Any MA guys bankfishing?
After a pretty good early season I hadn't done much fishing at all since I've been rotating down to the gulf coast for work....the summer is flying by! Finally got out on the Nip last thursday evening, and caught this 8.5# 23" largie!! I guess good things come to those who wait...or dont' have much time to fish?? Caught it on a PopR.

Tip-up backing line
I ended up going with Woodstock braided nylon fishing line, which I think is dacron, or very similar??? Works great!!

Tip-up backing line
Hey, I know this is a tackle question, but it's specific to New England so I'm putting it here. Just got a few tip-ups of my own and am wondering what the best type of braid is to use on the spool. Will any old braid work?? I can't find any ice-specific braids at bass-pro. They have ice-specific mono.... but I think I'm going to go with fluorocarbon leader. Thanx for any advice.

Ice Fishing Reports
There are people out on lake nippinecket in bridgewater today. I'm not one of them....I just drove by and saw them

what pound line?
I use either 6 or 8# spiderwire mono on my medium spinning rod. I'm thinking of switching over to braid though...

any have good luck at shad factory from shore rehoboth, MA
I've fished there a few times this year with some good results, only from shore. I just moved to town and it took me a while to find this place! You could get a jon boat in there but not easily. I've only fished from teh area around the dam and to get in you'd have to drop the boat down a somewhat steep little bank and then get in the boat where the water drops off pretty quickly. By the erosion there, it's evident that people have done it in the past. Canoe might be easier...

Assawompset Pond, Lakeville
My buddy who lives on Long Pond in Lakeville (which I'm going to hit up for sure) said that Assawompset is not legal for people to fish, unless you live on the pond??????????? That makes no sense to me. It seems to have public land around it..... He says that friends have had guns drawn on them by some sort of law enforcement for fishing there. I'm looking at the property maps and it seems that about 3/4 of the shoreline is municipal land.... Does my buddy know what he's talking about? I don't see how anyone can tell you not to fish on public land.
