  1. I have a recently obtained a 1993 Stratos 274 F/S. The trolling motor that is mounted on it is an older evinrude that still works great. What puzzles me is that it is wired for 12 and 24 volt. It has a switch on the side that allows me to select 12 or 24 volts. My question is, why would it be both and when would I choose 12 vs 24? Obviously when I switch it to 24 the motor speeds up some without moving the speed selector. I have just never seen this and was curious if there was anyone with personal experience and/or advise about this. Thank you.
  2. I have recently purchased new Humminbird 595c at a great price. Really sweet fishfinder/GPS but is only single beam. I use it primarily on my Bass boat. Is not having a dual beam set up really that bad or is this going to work just fine. I know there a lot of people who swear dual beam is needed and other feel that single beam will do just fine. Any info will help me decide if I should return it or not. Thanks a lot.
  3. I am looking into purchasing a well kept 1989 Bomber Commander Fish/Ski with a 350 I/O. I am fireman so I don't make a ton of money and this looks like a viable option to use for bass fishing and taking the family out. Does anyone know anything about these boats? I could use any help to decide which way to go on this. Also, if down the road the motor needs to come out, can any 350 be put in its place such as a SB Chevy engine? Or does it need to be specifically a cobra or a mercruiser etc. I was a GM mechanic before my career change and can work on 350ci GM motors in a auto format was just curious how different it is in a boat. I am sure I will have follow up questions to your responses. Thanks a lot.
  4. I would like to put a transom mount motor on the front of my boat. The boat I have has a very small mounting area on the bow so I would be mounting a bracket for a transom mount. My question is this: Is there any way to spin the head or the shaft 180 degrees so that when the trolling motor handle is racing to the rear of the boat, the forward gears will actually pull the boat forward and the reverse gear move the boat backwards? If I were to just mount the transom mount motor to the bracket as is, I would have to reach out in front of the boat to run the motor and that is obviously not going to work. Any Ideas, pictures, experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading this.
