  1. Thanks for the replies. I have a 100D and love it and was hoping the 200E7 would be the same size. Does anyone know if they are the same size? What about color? I know the 200 and 300 series are both green but do they both have that sparkly finish on them. I remember holding one at BPS a while back but can't remember if it was a 200 or 300.
  2. I can't help but notice that the new curados are poping up for sale pretty often. Those of you who have them, do they live up to your expectations? Why do you think people are selling them? How do they stack up to last years model like the 100D?
  3. I'm from Statesboro. How's the fishing in the northern part of the state.
  4. Here is a pic of the 5'5 that I caught right at dark.
  5. Fish are beginning to bed here in Ga. ponds. My brother law and I went fishing from daylight to dark yesterday hitting 5 farm ponds during the day. The morning bite was tough due to the colder weather but as the day warmed up so did the bite. We boated 58 bass total. We caught several nice ones including a 6'12, a 5'8, a 5'5 and a 5'1. Here is a pic of me with the 5'8. What a day!
  6. MG sells repacement shafts. They should be around $75. I replaced one and went with a shorter shaft. I didn't even think about keeping the old shaft. I guess the dealer just kept it.
  7. I held a 6'6 medium in fast action at BPS a few weeks ago. The action wasn't fast enough for soft plastics which is what I wanted it for. I think this would be a good choice for jerkbaits and cranks. Not to flexible like a parabolic rod and not an extra fast action like you would want for soft plastics. I almost bought one but I got a Johnny Morris 6'9 MH extra fast rod with recoil guides for the same price. I think the JM is a better made rod for soft plastics and for the money. I think that the carrot stick would make a great crankbait rod however and if I had been wanting a crankbait rod I probably would have bought it instead.
  8. Amen brother! They never run true!
  9. Dead serious.I hate them and it just feels like I am dragging a chunk of pond scum around. It's a confidence thing :-/ I can't catch anything on them either. I have fished them in ponds and in the river and only caught one fish. I can switch to a texas rigged worm and imediately start catching bass. They get hung up too much and don't produce like platics. I keep saying one day I am going to take a couple of jigs with me to the river and absolutely nothing else so I can gain some confidence in them. I haven't done it yet though.
  10. Comparing the BPS Stick-O to a GYCB Senko is like comparing a Ford Pinto to a Mercedes. Yep, they both get you the same results, one just costs 5 times more $!
  11. This is true but I still can't image them being 5 times the price better. I have used the Kinami flash (aren't they made by Yamamoto or his son) and they didn't get anymore bites then the BPS brand.
  12. You can get twenty 5 3/8 inch or 6 inch BPS sticko's for $3.33 each during the fishing classic sale. I have never fished a Senko but I would be willing to bet that they are not that much better than the BPS brand. Certainly not good enough to justify the price! I buy about 20 packs during the classic and fish them all year w/o having to buy anymore.
  13. I used it on the outside only. I covered the rivets and areas around it a few inches or so out. I never bothered painting over it because it was an old jon boat and I didn't care what it looked like. I figured since it was in the water all the time no one would see it anyway.
  14. Reel magic works great as an arrow lube! Makes an arrow come out of a 3D archery target much easier.
  15. I've used gluvits before. It is awesome! You just sand around the leaky rivets, mix it together, and then paint it on with a paint brush. My boat never leaked again. I swear by the stuff. If my boats ever start leaking again I will be using gluvits again. You can't go wrong with the stuff.
  16. That is an awfully narrow boat for a deck. I personally would not put a deck on it. If you do make sure it is as low as possible. I created a built in tackle storage box on my 1436 jon a few years ago. I ran it parallel to and behind the front seat. I built it to hold 8 plano 3700 storage containers plus pliers, etc. I put a lid on it and it worked great. It gave me plenty of storage and only took up about 14inches of floor space accross the whole lenght of the boat, right behind the front seat. This would probably be a safer route to give you storage space. It is also weighs a lot less than a deck and is MUCH safer.
  17. Does anyone use these? Are they any better than regular batteries? Are they worth the increase in price or do they just have a good advertising campaign?
  18. That must be why they don't have any 10 lb or 12 lb spools left!
  19. You will have a hard time getting a rod that performs like the Johnny Morris Elite, for $200. I will second that. They have them on sale at the spring classic for $150. Awesome deal and as good as many rods costing $100 more. The 6' 8 MH extra fast is an awesome plastics rod. I put power pro braid on it last year and was setting the hook when the worm landed on the bottom it is so sensitive. I had to get used to the extra sensitivity compared to the Extreme rods.
  20. Why does BPS sell yo-zuri hybrid in the 1/4 lb spool for $5.88 and the 1/8 lb spool for $4.88 and then sell only 275 yards for $7 plus? Are they clearing some old inventory out or just stupid? Is it the same exact line?
  21. Thanks for all the responses. Unfortunately the answers basically come down to if the rod cost more it is most likely better. Not good for my wallet.
  22. The BPS JM elite with recoil guides is an AWESOME rod. It is very sensitive and on sale during the spring classic for $150. Much more rod than you will get for the same money from most companies.
  23. Granted the SHR is not GLX, but I find both my Rogue and Johnny Morris Elite to be more sensetive. 8-) I too have a JM elite with the recoil guides and absolutely love it. When paired with braided line you can feel fish looking at your lure. I also have and love the BPS finesse rods. I was considering a Cabelas Magtouch rod or either a Carrot stick or something similar. However, it is difficult to figure this stuff out unless you get to fish with one.
  24. I actually know some rednecks around here that swear by an Ugly Stick. I wouldn't fish one if you paid me to.
