  1. If i see one lightning strike i am goin home. I dont care how far away it is. :-/
  2. Wow, that sucks but is pretty awesome that your getting some better lube. Did you send your rebate in already, it ends the 30th!
  3. I would throw whatever you have confidence in (which for me is a jig and pig). There are so many factors to look at when choosing your weapon of choice, but if I was just going out for the first time on a small pond I would just go with a good ole plastic worm of your choice. They seem to always produce when other cant, especially when waters are heavily pressured. Good Luck, Hawg Fan
  4. I think its just the cast control knob, because when mines really loose I have no sound except the line being put on, but when I tighten it up for pitching I have that slight sound
  5. I re-lubed mine today and I still have just a little bit of noise. Maybe were just being paranoid.
  6. LOL . Thanks for the post! I need to get used to fishing weightless. I just hate it, but I think its because I have so much success on jigs, and then switching to weightless just feels funny and messes with me mentally.
  7. Hey Hawg Chaser, I live in Jacksonville and went out this morning. You are right, fishing in the rain is very relaxing. I was the only one out on the community lake this morning, like you said..all to myself. It wasnt only relaxing but the bite was fair as well on jigs and senkos. I was just glad it wasnt pouring like it has been the past few weeks
  8. So I just picked up a couple of packs (Blue, Crawfish) so I could give them a try (to be honest i just think they look cool 8-)) , it seems like almost every bait company has a version of these but I was at walmart and I just couldnt make it out without looking at the fishing stuff that I've seen a thousand times before. Anyways, how do you guys rig and fish them. I was thinking about putting a 3/8 or 1/4 Bullet sinker texas rig and just working it like I do my jigs but I just wanted to see what other techniques there were. Thanks, Hawg Fan
  9. Yeah i believe it is, there is just a little bit of noise but it sounds normal...not like grinding or anything...
  10. If you think its smooth and fast now, give it a good cleaning and relube with good oil I had a few more questions: 1.) I went out in the rain today and fished a couple of hours and was wondering if there is anything special you do after it gets wet other than wipe it down. I wouldnt normally care but it was an expensive purchase for me as far as my budget goes. 2.) Is the shimano tutorial on their website exactly how I should clean my reel or are there any special things you do? 3.) Is the shimano lube in the box any good or should I buy some other brand? Thanks, Hawg Fan
  11. Yeah and people think were barefoot too :
  12. Hey Thanks, yeah ive used baitcasters for a couple of years. I just havent used one with a VBS and one that is so smooth and fast like shimanos. I appreciate all the information and the tip. I will definately have to give that a try.
  13. Yeah, I have the brakes set at every other one right now. I adjusted my casting control knob to where my lure doesnt fall unless I slightly jiggle it down to the floor. No backlash. Ah, i didnt know you were talking about spinning reels. Sorry. Thanks for the suggestions so far!
  14. Well, after all the talk about shimano being all hype and me bugging you guys about curados and citicas last week I finally went out and bough a Citica. It is amazing compared to the BPS Bill Dance Quantum Combo I bough last year (Which is an excellent combo $60). The citica is very smooth, and it casts, pitches, and flips like a dream. I havent noticed any play like others have been talking about. The only problem I have had is trying to find out what combination I need for the braking system. I was wondering what you guys normally have your brakes set on and if you tighten your cast control knob for your lure to have a slow fall. It seems like the only way i can avoid some minor backlash when pitching is if i tighten the cast control knob to where the lure doesnt move at all unless I shake it down to the ground with the rod. Any Suggestions? Thanks, Hawg Fan
  15. Wow! Someone from central arkansas! We need to get together sometime and catch some pigs. I grew up on lake conway literally.
  16. Hey thanks for the replies and the article!
  17. Ive notice that graphite rods have IM6, IM7, IM8, IM9 etc...graphite. My question is how much difference will there be in sensitivity between these different types assuming that the increase in number is an increase in quality, and what other factors effect sensitivity in a rod. Bill dance tried to tell me in a video but his rod got broken in a fan : Thanks, Hawg Fan
  18. Corndogs!? Why, I caught a fish on a corn dog once. I dont think I have ever seen one of those on the lakes I fish though, at least I have some strategies now in case I ever encounter them.
  19. Yes. Please list all honey holes with gps coordinates
  20. I dont think anyone has it all figured out, and we never will. Just respond by telling people whats worked for you. Except your secret techniques :-X
  21. I know with me I probably read articles and the forums on this site for almost a year without actually registering. I just wanted to encourage any guests out there who are like I was to register and get in here and get involved. From what I have read over time and recently just started posting I can tell you it is hands down the best resource for bass fishing information. You will not find another group of people who want to help you in catching fish as much as these, and maybe even share a few of there secrets along the way. Thanks, Nick
  22. No I dont want to try them, I was just curious if anyone ever caught a fish on them. You know they must not be good when the spokesman appears on everyone elses "As Seen On TV" lure commercials.
  23. They must have something good about them, because the cream rises to the top.
  24. I remember seeing commmercials for the "Walking Worm" when I was younger but never had a chance to try out what appeared to be a gimmick. Has anyone ever tried these baits? It seems they died out like most "As Seen On Tv" items. http://www.cabelas.com/information/BargainCave/WalkingWormKit.html Thanks, Nick
