Definitely tie the palomar knot as often as possible... I've rarely had anything go wrong with it. Best knot hands down! For lures with trebles and such, sometimes I use an Improved Clinch knot and it does the job just fine. I definitely agree though with allenriddle.. If you've been using that knot for 25 years with no problems, then it's probably just a bad spool.

Been readin the forums for a long time and figured it's time I start joining in... I've got a fair amount of techniques down and have been bass fishing for a few years. Personal best is 6 pounds 4 ounces on a black/black Cavitron Buzzbait (love that thing!). I'm 22 years old and fish mostly from shore. Looking forward to learn a lot more from you guys, even though I've learned tons already just from reading here, and also trying to contribute as much as i can! Thanks!
