  1. Often times there are some initial challenges with most fixed up boats to get them running right and this one sounds no different. On the bright side - you have a unique and very valuable situation right in front of you - the opportunity to Learn. If you choose to at the end of this evolution, you'll know exactly what the "starting/cranking/turning-over the big gear looking thingy spinning when you turn the key" IS. As well as How, When & Why it does it. There will be a long list of important pieces of information that further down the road, will undoubted serve you well; especially if you continue to fish from a boat, this one and the next ones. So learn everything about your boat that you can, particularly when in the presence of humans who have been trained in it's repair. The lessons you learn from this experience alone will be something that you reflect upon & talk about your whole life. It's called "experience" and it's how many of us that have been down the road ahead of you, happen to learn it. It's not always easy but it is not something you want to let pass you by. Stick with it & Good Luck. A-Jay
  2. Pretty Cool ~ And in many cases - All for less that 6 bucks. A-Jay

  5. Way to Make It Happen ~ Nice Bag of Bass Congrats A-Jay
  6. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Perhaps use lures that look like the live bait you do have success with - Bluegill. Like swimbaits, swim jigs, spinnerbaits, Chatterbaits, & Rattlebaits A-Jay
  7. Vibrating jigs have been a welcome addition for me in that type of water. Chatter baits, Rage Blade & a Scrounger. A-Jay
  8. A Pitch, A Flip or a cast - call it what you want - the objective is to present your bait in a manner that will elicit a strike. When you do, it means you've done it perfectly. Placing a yard stick on it may not be as important. As mentioned Accuracy is the name of the game. A-Jay
  9. Sounds like it's time to do one of at least Two Things ~ 1) Fish a totally new body of water. 2) Time to master a new technique or perhaps resurrect an old one . . . I'll say that one or both of those have been very successful in helping me rekindle The Fire ~ That and a few Big Bass - that Always helps . . . . A-Jay
  10. Congrats ~ Sounds like a heck of good deal. The "Speaking at seminars" is a pretty big deal and a perferct way to increase your exposure, if that's what you're looking to do. I'd encourage you to plan what you're going to talk about in advance and "practice it". Video yourself, watch it, fix your weak points and perhaps let someone you respect watch your "show". You'll be glad you did. You only get ONE chance to make a good first impression. Some of the pro's who do it and are successful may tell you that aspect of this gig is as important as the Actual fishing. Good Luck A-Jay
  11. Sweet ! Congrats A-Jay
  12. And there ya go ~ You need one of those buttons in your boat "That Was Easy ! " Congrats A-Jay
  13. Sounds like the Owner / Operator hadn't come across a real good "Bucket" fisherman before this incident. Mr. Fisherman must have been putting a hurting on them and that man had seen enough. But "No Limit" means No Limit - so if management wants to guard against a total meat fisherman filling bucket after bucket - there will need to be some rule changes. Perhaps a different or additional fee charged after a certain Number of fish. One things's for sure, Old Red Shirt was not having any of it . . . . A-Jay
  14. Contrary to popular belief ~ It is completely possible to cast to, detect a strike, play & land bass with a rod that may not necessarily be "The Best". I think I'm working with sticks in the "not Too Bad category" and seem to do OK. Just get one you like, you'll be good. A-Jay

As a young boy, I remember spending time with my grandfather, who was 87 at the time. He was a kind soul but a bit grumpy at times and interestingly enough, had been converted to nudism. As he sat all day long in the greenhouse without a stitch on except for his hat, I asked him why felt like he needed a hat if he's a nudist. He hit me with his walking stick and holled, "Because I'm bald." ************************************************* There was a bit of confusion at WalMart this morning. When I was ready to pay for my order, the check-out Lady said to me, 'Strip down facing me.' Making a mental note to complain to my Congressman about excessive security running amok, I did just as she had instructed. When the hysterical shrieking and alarms finally subsided, I found out that she was referring to my debit card. I have been asked to shop elsewhere in the future. A-Jay

  20. I don't know what else to tell you. I've described it the best I can. I like the stuff. I say try it. A-Jay
  21. After you have decided on a replacement hook, I'd encourage you to take a long look at LFT's Frig Tail hook. Few are talking about these yet but they should be. I've been using them for a couple of seasons now. They come through the slop surprisingly clean and Definitely stick those short strikes . . . . 22. I've only used the line on a casting reel. The casting "distance" I've realized and reported here is relative. What I mean is - I'm not spooling my reel every time nor are the lures launching out of site. But it does seen that I'm able to get the same or more distance with less effort and when I do exert a touch more horsepower to the throw, the baits are traveling further. As for a spinning reel, the smoothness and smaller diameter should equate to some distance gains, but like I said, I've yet to put that theory to the test - soon though. A-Jay
  23. That's a really nice article J ~ A-Jay
