  1. I have the Bull nose rudder on that same motor - I like it. How are you planning to install / mount the sKeg ? And are you concerned that doing so could be problematic when loading / unloading and in very shallow ? A-Jay Edit: never mind - I just found some info on the skeg and it appears to be removable. Be very interested on how it goes . . .
  2. Guess not. Maybe I just don't fish it enough. I'm still hopeful though. A-Jay
  3. That's a heck of Bass - especially on the DS ~ Congrats So probably it's safe to say that you may fish that rig at least one more time . . . . A-Jay
  4. Might want to try the "Double Rig" ~ Seen here. http://www.in-fisherman.com/tv/double-rig-smallmouths Good Luck A-Jay

  6. That's Very interesting - especially since the two catch locations were so far apart. I've caught the same smb with a knot on it's head like 3 times in 5 years - not a very smart fish thankfully but very cooperative, which I appreciate. Did you catch that one on the same bait both times or were they different ? A-Jay
  7. LOL ~ You guys are killing me - Half my Bison Burger is current lodged in my sinus ! A-Jay
  8. Nope - We're on to this now ~ A-Jay
  9. After all the trouble you've gone through, change that hydraulic fluid - can't hurt. Hydraulic steering fluid is clear, mostly odorless, and light-colored. If the hydraulic steering oil contains dirt or is otherwise contaminated, the entire system should be flushed and the hydraulic oil replaced. Abrasive dirt is the biggest killer of hydraulic systems. Dirt or dust can enter the system when hoses are cut and fittings installed. It's best to flush out a steering system before the final hydraulic oil goes in, something to consider when making a repair. Your hydraulic system should be flushed out and oil replaced every five years. Also the shaft should never be wet with oil. If it is, wipe it dry with a rag and check it again as you turn through a steering cycle. If a wet shaft comes out of the ram, the seals are leaking and need to be replaced. Check to see there is no pitting on the shaft, a sign of corrosion that will ultimately cause hydraulic fluid to leak out of the cylinder. A-Jay

  11. Dear Raider, after years of doling out caring advice on every conceivable subject on the American landscape, you are as much a cultural icon as Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny (and a lot more believable, in my view!). Reading this collection of sage advice, it’s a tangible way of watching the social fabric and issues evolve decade after decade. Seeing Dear Raider evolve right along with it! When Dear Raider says, "I care," it is very clear that he is sincere and that he truly wants to help people help themselves. Why hasn't this man gotten the Nobel Prize yet? Or at least, a Pulitzer ... His generous, kind heart comes across on these pages loud and clear. Book deal should be coming any day now - and here's your cover. Well done. A-Jay

  15. Yes - Trouble free means No Digging in of the line on the spool. An Angler who is a routine and confident user of braided line, and can benefit from a small diameter, long casting, strong and manageable product, should be very pleased with Gliss. Additionally, first time users of braid may find the braided line learning curve a little shorter with Gliss. Disclaimer - abrasion resistance and the short line shock profile of this line has not been challenged by me yet so I have no comment on these characteristics. A-Jay

  19. I am also a regular night time spinner bait angler. St Croix recently released The Big Sweeper Rod in the Legend Tournament Bass Line. It's a Mod Fast stick with a lure rating of 3/8 to 3/4 oz. According to the manufacturer "The resulting 7-foot, medium-heavy powerSweeper Spinnerbait rod (TBC70MHMF) has proven itself for efficiently working large spinnerbaits over rocky points and ledges, picking up line quickly and setting hooks at long distances. “The Sweeper is a perfect Great Lakes smallmouth rod,” Johnston affirms. “It’s big and bad enough to punch bullet casts into a strong headwind. Yet it’s got a nice feathery heft that won’t wear you out after a full day of fishing.” Might be worth a look. Mine is currently "In The Mail" A-Jay

  22. At least you don't have to shovel it ~ Stay Cool Kent. A-Jay
  23. Use mono ~ It's too cheap to care. A-Jay Edit: sorry - didn't know the OP was talking about the Gliss line - I use a Uni-knot for everything except mono to mono then it's a blood knot. Never felt that there was excessive waste.
  24. "Good Fishing" for me happen Any & Every Time I'm able to get out on the water ~ But more specifically I guess there are two situations that really do make me smile a little more: 1) whenever the pre-arrival pattern & technique actually works and 2) Whenever I figure something out that takes some quality fish, especially of it's new or different. Honorable mention goes to Ice Out & the first day I see my favorite humans pulling their Jet Skis for the season. A-Jay
