Truck Gun
The AR 15 is prone to jamming from dirt and a truck gun will see dirt in the cab. I think the use or need should be covered first. The 12ga pump riot shotgun with a 18.5" barrel is one of the best for personal protection. With a Mossberg you can also get a 28" Mod choke barrel for bird hunting too. You get two guns in one. If you deer hunt there is a rifled barrel for slugs too. All I can add is look at all the options first to get the most bang for your buck.

I Got Fat!
I push myself on the first pass with the bike. I'm standing up. Leaning in turns, on the bars while climbing hills. On the rear going down hills, my point is our body never stops moving on the bike when were riding. It's a rush when she wheelers in sixth gear. The rear wheel never stops spinning, but it does for a few feet between shifting gears. I have never felt a rush like riding a bike. By the third pass my muscles did burn. The 250's never did for me what the 390's did.

I Have An Interview. I Think. Help? Edit : Got The Job :)
Remember to interview him the sametime he interviews you to see if want to work There. Also ask if they offer any education and a 401k savings plan. Ask about medical coverage too. At onetime I hated interviews but after being out of work in every early recession we had I started having fun interviewing them too. Besides being interested in how they did different things too. Don't forget to learn all you can because when you leave there your knowledge and education you learned leaves with you. I was a class A machine tool builder and on every job I learned something different and a different way to do things that applied to every future job I had. All the on the job training pays off. We actually hone our skills on every job. We're on top of our game experience wise. Every piece of knowledge is like a piece of a puzzle. Always look at the big picture and the future. Good luck. I Got Fat!
My youngest son got me into riding dirtbikes. I picked up a '79 husqvarna 390CR motocross bike with 45 rear wheel horsepower. My point is I lost 60# in three months chasing my son through the woods. You use every muscle when you ride dirtbikes. It's more fun than being in a gym. Just make sure you wear all the safety gear. There is no more of a rush than becoming one with a machine flying through the woods. I would do three laps non stop that was my workout 4 to 5 times a week. The score was bike 1 human 0. The bike was an awesome workout once you get the balance down. When I stopped riding due to a job related knee injury I got fat again. I say get a dirtbike and ride. Even a dual-sport bike on the street will give you a workout using every muscle group. It's good exercise. It was great riding with my son too.

Bought Two More Lews Rods
Go to " fish and save .com " He has some bait casting reels in the spincast section if anyone is looking. He is sold out out but a new listing of them will be posted soon. Some of his rods are very affordable. A lews rod for $49 that lists for $99 that's hard to pass up. Plus he has rods for every budget wether it's a $5 rod or a $49 either way it can or keep you fishing that's the most important thing. I used the Shakespeare and south bend fishing rods for most of my life. I probably logged more hours of fishing using a zebco 202 reel more than any other reel I have now as a kid too. I'm just as happy to be fishing now as I was back then. I guess fishing can bring back the memories of when we were just kids fishing.

Winter Clothing - Outerwear
I also use those one piece red trap door long John's too. I had pneumonia three times in a row working outside in the winter. It was my lower back that was exposed to the cold weather. Once I started wearing the once piece long John's I was never sick again. I wear the heavy Rocky socks from dicks sporting goods. And the 1,000gram thinsulate boots and my feet are never cold even while ice fishing. I also use a snowboarder one piece neck wrap too. This keeps the sides and back of my neck very warm. When we were hunting and walking for miles we were never cold, it wasn't till I got old and can't walk that we'll is when we started sitting is when we needed the new insulated camo hunting clothes. Have you ever noticed when were all dressed up in these clothes we look like that little guy on "you'll shoot your eye out" then we need to hit the bathroom before we go out?

Worm Boxes?
I keep the plastics in there original bags until I use one. Once the used plastic comes out of the water and I change it we can't put it back in the new package it came out of so I put it in a zip loc bag so it can be reused again. Plus it won't contaminate the other new plastics in the new bag. I have a lot of plastics but I refuse to waste any, not even one. I also leave my full bags of plastics home. I put a hook in one and a few extra in a zip loc bag.

Bought Two More Lews Rods
These are my last two new rods. Well unless I find a 6' bait caster I like. I bought a 7'2" Lew's extra heavy, extra fast bait caster rod and a lews 7' med/lt spinning rod. I figure these will round out my setups then I can try them all to see what I like better. These rods list for $99 and 50% off there $49 each. I'm thinking once I start using the other 6'6" / 7' rods why go shorter with the other actions. I'm thinking the Lew's extra, extra will be good for pike or My heavier castaic trout lure. I'm thinking my 7' med/lt spinning rod Will throw my lighter weight lures farther. I have the room from shore to use the 6'6"/7' rods too. So far out of my four new bait casters the Berkley lightening, the quantum KVD tour, Garcia vengeance and the Berkley lightening shock rod I like the feel of the vengeance and the shock rod. But I never used rods like this before so time will tell. Bb

When in doubt while at the cross roads on which one to buy its a no brained I buy both. This way your not missing out on a great price on either one. I'm broke but I have plenty of fishing stuff and enough money for gas to get me there.kidding but that's all I worry about now. My bills are paid and do I have enough fishing tackle yet? Nope.

I Got Fat!
Fresh fruit like peaches, pears and Apple's keeps things moving sort of speak. As we get older that really matters. I just went to buckle my belt today and found it short inches from the last hole on the belt so my method of losing weight is spot on again. If I can hit 300# by Christmas, if I survive thanksgiving and Christmas my goal by spring will be achieved. When I was logging and In 10 degree weather I had the 24" trees knotched and back cut yet they were frozen. Many times I put the saw down and pushed them over to fell them. I was a big strong active guy. I could fell trees and buck them up into firewood length and have a cord of firewood on the ground in 50 minutes. At the local fair in speed cutting I could do six slices and bore two threw holes with a 100cc chainsaw in 17.5 seconds. My point is I'm a big guy but not lazy by any means. On my day off it wasn't watching tv I was servicing my saws and equipment for the start of next week's cut. Even in going full bore logging for over six months I never went under 290#. When I went to work for the elevator company I would carry 250# rails by myself. One day I installed a 321# sheave(pulley) by myself when the lifting crane didn't go high enough. I installed it by hand. I'm still here because I don't smoke or drink but I love good food. My wife is an excellent cook and her home made pasta and baked goods are awesome. I didn't get fat eating junk food. I still enjoy the good food but eat less. It's everything in moderation. You need to have a strong will too. Remember to snack every two hours between meals. Eat your meals at the sametime. Then snack a little inbetween so your not too hungry at the meals. All you need is vitamins. It's so easy once you make up your mind to commit to it. I only wish I did it sooner.

Spinning Rod Setups??
So far I have two 7' Finor MH rods and one 6'6" M Finor Rod spinning setups. I'm adding a lews 7' med action rod and a lews 6'6" med action rod setups. My question is should I add a lews med/lt action rod setup? What I'm trying to do is have my shore fishing setups seperate than the setups for a boat that's my goal. I'd like to have everything for a boat. I plan on getting a boat by springtime. I use five different spinning rod setups from shore now. Topwater Crankbait C rig plastics senko creature brushog small lures spinflys 1/8 to 1/4oz spinnerbaits Split shot rig worm. Using different line test allows the cranks to run different.

I Got Fat!
I started losing weight in January when I weighed 390#. At the time of my radiation for prostate cancer started I lost 70# by july. I did this by eating one frozen waffle for breakfast, a half sandwich for lunch (tuna in water) mixing mustard with a little mayo. For supper I had half of what I usually ate, no bread. For snacks inbetween I had those 100 calorie bag of cookies or a few pretzels or some fresh fruit. I was allowed a 2,000 calories but I kept it between 1,200/1,400 calories. I lost weight so fast it threw my meds off. I was able to reduce some meds and stop taking other ones. My cancer doctor told me to stop losing weight till my cancer treatments were over. So right now I'm back at it again. When I was logging full time I was never under 290#. My problem was when I took an inside job my appetite stayed. Even though I stayed logging part time. I just wasn't burning up the calories. Now I know what I have to do and stay focused. It's everything in moderation, fresh fruit, tuna w/70 calorie bread. I drink only water no more diet coke. I found this very easy to do. My goal is to lose weight slowly now. I figure another 20# by Christmas and another 25/30# by bass fishing season in the spring. If I can do it anyone can. BigBill

Spinnerbait Rod
Can we get by with one spinner bait rod only? I throw a few smaller spinnerbaits where a bait caster wouldn't work. I figure a 6' med spinning outfit would handle the lighter spinnerbaits. Now will one bait casting setup handle the spinnerbaits from 3/8oz to 1oz properly? I probably have heavier ledge busters too. Not to confuse anyone but do we need three spinner bait setups to handle all the spinner bait sizes and weights? Or do we just target the 3/8 to 3/4oz spinnerbaits. I just picked up a Berkley lightening shock rod and it's a nice rod for the $$.

C-Rigging Crankbaits!
I'm fishing in 10' of water max. But in the channel and deeper holes this could be the hot ticket. I never pulled out a fish in the deeper hole yet, they seemed to be suspended in that area. I use the casted out portable fish finder to locate the flats, the holes and dropoffs etc.

Spare Spool, Spinning Reel Rant
My '70's D.A.M. Quick spinning reels came with an extra bail spring. I have some older reels where the extra spool is still wrapped in the original box. But your mono &braid isn't a bad idea.

How Many Places Do You Buy From?
I like to spread the wealth besides the bigger stores the local mom/pop bait shops have to eat too. The mom/pop shop has Mark downs on older lures which I give to the kids. Dicks Sporting Goods locally too besides Wal-Mart. REMEMBER TO "shop at our sponcers here first" for without them supporting us we would not be here. My online places are; Bass Pro Shops Siebert Outdoors (custom quality jigs) Tackle Warehouse (rods)+ Fish and Save (very affordable rods n reels) EBay (reels n rods n lures) one must be careful it can be sleezebay sometimes. Read the descriptions carefully and read them three times. Overstockedbait n tackle. (Line, pike n bass lures) Buyfishingstuff (okuma reels and tackle) Vimage Outdoors (lures n plastics) Fishing tackle outlet. (lures/plastics) Brannans bass shop Texas. (Lures n accessories) if these guys where locally I'd be broke, these people fish too. Remember to keep fishing affordable and still enjoyable too. At one point in my life I ate P&J sandwiches for lunch and a $0.25 cent can of soda so I saved $$ to buy fishing tackle and I was grateful. I got to fish. I still take P&J sandwiches fishing today.

Fall Topwater
In the fall I been targeting the Lilly pads and the flats and the areas inbetween. I find using the dying minnow presentation with the YUM Money minnow or any other plastic minnow works well at this time of the year. I find a slow presentation with a twitch till it stops moving will pay off. Just keep an eye on it and go slow.

Using Jigs And Casting Them??
I been using jigs in the past making shorter casts with my 5'6" bait casting rod. Buy my question is with my new 7' bait casting rod I can cast a jig as far as I can toss a topwater lure on my spinning outfit. Can a certain style of jig be casted too far? Is there a difference in distance when casting a swim jig when compared to a football jig we hop on the bottom? I was wondering if a longer cast will pass the point of a perfect presentation with the football jig. Do we lose some of the control on the longer casts. Sorry but fishing from shore I'm not sure if it can be a problem or not. In the past I worked the jigs up the Rocky points to the shoreline. Now with the 7' rod and casting much farther does the game change or not. What do you guys do? I want to hear what the boat guys do? I do have a habit of feathering my long casts back on my spinning reel sometimes when it's getting close to the other shoreline or towards the coattails.

C-Rigging Crankbaits!
Sounds awesome I'll have to remember to try it. I usually put the weight between two adjustable carolina keepers anyway on a 24" leader with a locking snap swivel. This way I can change out my different rigged plastics much faster. I can shorten up my leader on my heavier weighted carolina rigs and try a crankbait. Now you have me thinking about trying a countdown rapala or a yum money minnow at the bottom. This setup could be limitless in its variations and combinations. What do they call this crankin carolina setup? The Carolina Cranker Rig? CCR?

Anyone Else Throw A Square Bill Almost All Year
I use the bomber crankbaits in all depths but the shallow A's rock all the time here. The redapplecraw seems to be the hottest color here but all the colors will catch fish at onetime or another. Right now I been throwing the citrus color in stained to muddy water conditions. Since these all float I get jiggy with it by letting it pause over submerged weeds and twitching it over the open weed pockets. Even the older colors still work with awesome success there still one of my top go to baits. If you can still find the bomber FAT A in any color grab it. If it's in red, Brown, green, firetiger. Etc if it has the Orange bottom get them for that's a big plus with any crankbait. Even when slow reeled so it's just under the surface that fine toned rattle rings the dinner bell. Don't forget to wear your polarized glasses so you don't miss the action when the fish bolts out of the weeds to strike your crankbait. Like the turtle man says it's live action.
