  1. I'm talking about the wide gaps that have a 1/16th or 1/8th weight on the shank, not sure if those are swimbait hooks or not.
  2. I heard that the eyes on gamakatsu weighted hooks are larger than normal, and that they can tear soft plastics. Is this true, and does anyone make weighted hooks that have normal size eyes?
  3. Wow those colors look really, really good. I want the bluegill.
  4. I'm not an experienced angler, I've probably got the equivalent of a year or two of experience. I can definitely say though, that fishing these colder weather months seems to be harder. Fish do not slam lures anymore, they aren't aggressive much of anything. Any fish I'm catching I'm having to finesse them out of reeds and shallow grassy areas with soft plastics. Hard lures with trebles aren't working too well because the fish aren't striking a moving target like the summer. Also treble lures are really hard to use because the lakes around here are down some and the grass is everywhere, there is barely any place I can throw a crankbait. There is grass on top that goes down all the way to the bottom, it's a mess. Inspite of doing things that you think would catch some in those conditions, like throwing a texposed horny toad topwater through the crud, nothing hits. I've had luck with deadsticking a trick worm in 1 spot where theres a hole in the grass, and fishing a senko and a lizard. Nothing is consistent at all, and all in all I'm pulling 1-2 small fish per hour+. I'm not sure if I'm asking for advice or just venting but either way it helps me. Anyone know of something I can try?
  5. I can't wacky rig my senkos, weeds are too prevalent, I'd never get it back to the bank.
  6. Mashed the barb down on my 3/0 WG hook, pulled a little sub-pounder out of some reeds with a zoom lizard, and by the time I got 'em on the bank, the hook already slipped out. Made it alot easier for me, and for the fish Also caught a big little sunfish on the lizard by a dock, and hooked 'em all the way through his mouth. Hook slipped right out like nothin happened, where as I would have torn him up some if the hook still had the barb up.
  7. Should i t-rig a senko through the skinny end, or through the thick end? I've tried both, and through the skinny end allows it to slip through weeds with ease, but I don't want to negatively effect action.
  8. Straight shank, not offset
  9. This is why I want a barbless hook.
  10. Do robos have that shimmy on the fall? That is what I was trying to ask about, I read that robos tails float better on the bottom, but do they have that killer wiggle on the fall?
  11. Do roboworms have that killer tail action on the fall like the trick worms? I heard that roboworms tails float very well on the bottom, but they need to have that wiggle on the fall. Trick worms tails don't seem to float quite as much on the bottom as I'd like, but the shimmy on the fall makes up for it.
  12. That is funny to me, but substantially eerie at the same time.
  13. My friend gave me a trick worm to try yesterday. I pitched it out, let it sink, popped it up (slowly sometimes, quickly others), let it sink, rinse and repeat. No luck. Then I tried something else. I pitched it out, let it sink, closed my bail, and then just sat there. Lo and behold, I see my line move, and I had fish on. I got that fish back in the water, and pitched again to the exact same spot, with the same method, and another fish took it, but he got off. My question is, why did the fish take the lure when it is just sitting there, as opposed to bouncing it some for a motion effect? What is the fish seeing? I read that most fish will hit worms on the initial fall, but I've never read that they get hit just sitting there. Is there any kind of hypothesis that can be formed? I had about 3-4 fish hit my worm this way before I had to leave because of noseeums. I'm going to go back tomorrow and try this again. These things have killer action and are fun to fish, definitely going to pick up a pack.
  14. Step 1- Pitch a zoom trick worm Step 2- Profit
  15. Can anyone point me in the direction of a barbless 3/0 EWG strait shank hook?
  16. How do you guys present them? I fish them t rigged, need to figure out how to fish them though.
  17. How do you guys fish these things? What technique?
  18. I know KVD isn't god, but I know he's a renown fisherman and good at what he does. So if KVD does it, it must work, in my mind atleast.
  19. I watched a video of KVD fishing a buzzbait and it said he used 20# fluoro. That's gotta hold some sort of a candle to fluoro buzzbaiting?
  20. Looking to pick up a cavitron 1/4 oz, and I want the low visibility of fluorocarbon. Will fluorocarbon sink the buzzbait or negate performance? I know line visibility probably doesn't matter as much with topwaters, but it's an in my head thing, and there is still some line in the water. Thanks for any help.
  21. I am not good at texas rigging... at all for some reason, hense why I posted the topic Texas rigging hell... lol. I use a 3/0 extra wide on the super fluke.
  22. Havoc the Jerk looks like a nice lure, how much heavier is it compared to a super fluke? Would it stay sub surface with fluorocarbon? I'm not proficient enough at fishing nor have the funds to buy braid and floro, I would have to use straight fluorocarbon.
  23. Gamakatsu's website is always so slow
