  1. I'm trying to fish the zoom super fluke on 30 lb braid, and the fluke will not stay under the water, especially if I jerk it like a jerkbait, it just spins to the top. Would switching to fluorocarbon solve this problem?
  2. You guys are posting good lures. I'm looking at the manns minus 1. Any specific color? My lakes are dark stained green, only bluegill in them no shiners, but lures colored like shiners work too... *** seems to have different versions of the -1 all with different colors. The -1 would work great because my lakes have heavy vegetation about a foot from the top of the water.
  3. I'm assuming that is the point of the hook is tucked into the top back of the lure, for weedlessness, which is actually what I am trying to accomplish
  4. After doing the first part of the texas rig through the nose, do I have to inset the hook at a 90 degree angle into the belly and out the back?
  5. Using a 3/0 EWG worm hook, trying to rig zoom horny toads and super flukes
  6. I can not texas rig a soft plastic if I had to save my life by doing it. I insert the hook at 90 degrees, pull the lure up the shank, put the eye of the hook into the lure (necessary for me,) flip the hook around, and when I try to get the hook out the back, it is either at an angle where I can not make it weedless, or the eye of the hook is now out of the front of my bait, or both... does anyone know what I might be doing wrong? Why can I not t-rig my soft plastics?
  7. That looks like a good lure, but, the lakes around here are heavy with weeds and hydrilla, so I'm kind of wary with that wide lip hanging up and bringing grass with me back to the shore. Only way to know would be to try, though. Good call.
  8. I had a pair of Ray Ban polarized sunglasses, about a $120 pair. I could see fish in the water quite clearly. I never compared them to inexpensive polarized glasses, but the quality of the glasses I had let me see fish in the water well.
  9. Split ring is what I meant, not swivel, whoops.
  10. Alright, perhaps tying a flat sided crank with a swivel on would loosen the wobble? I think I read that on here somewhere.
  11. Can anyone point me in the direction of a crankbait that has a wide, enticing wobble, and doesn't go deeper than 5'? I have better luck with lures that produce a wide, hypnotic wobble, and I slow roll them to get the most out of the action. My preference would be a flat body crankbait or an enlongated crankbait as opposed to something designed like a strike king 1.0. I'm looking at this baker lures suspending jerkbait, can't link to TWH, have to search the name on TWH to see it unfortunately.
  12. Mine is watermelon seed, on a zoom horny toad or fluke.
  13. Anyone have experience with the Bass Pro Shots Brawler rod? Need a new rod and this one looks good because I can get it 6'6 2 pieces, medium power, and medium action, which fits what I fish very well. Is it a good rod? http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Brawler-Spinning-Rods/product/1209070506478/
  14. This. I'm thinking of buying a jon boat and bolting some plywood to the side.
  15. I don't think that does any good if you are digesting in an alligators stomach.
  16. That guy got so flippen lucky, and that is exactly what I am worried about happening. I will not be buying a kayak, LoL.
  17. Looking at kayaks, but something I am concerned about are alligators attacking the kayak. I know that people and experts say that alligators are typically non aggressive towards humans and they usually run away as opposed to attacking, but usually is not very comforting. Being in a kayak, there is really nothing to stop an alligator from being able to grab you. Biggest thing I am concerned about is an alligator jumping out of the water and ambushing. I know that this is not common, but it must happen sometimes. Probably, if I am concerned about this, a kayak is not the right vessel for me. I'd like to hear peoples opinions on alligator ambushes and kayaks.
  18. Perception is seeming to fit my bill. This Perception Impulse looks like what I need, as I prefer a sit in kayak. Perception Impulse http://www.perceptionkayaks.com/product/index/products/recreational/impulse/impulse_10-0/
  19. Hello, I'm looking at kayaks and would like one that is quality for less than $400, preferably in the $300-350 range. The biggest factor I would like out of this kayak is stability, and durability. I don't want a kayak that tips and yaws easily, nor one that does not have a good quality reputation. I would be using this kayak for fishing lakes, no ocean on it. Thanks for any pointers.
  20. Anyone? I'd just like opinions on how crankbaits and jerkbaits would do in this river, I think I know where to cast out.
  21. So I need fluorocarbon line, try crankbait/flukes, where should I cast? I'm assuming look for cover, dark spots, branches, cast parallel to the river bank. Also, how do flukes do on a steady retrieve?
  22. I think I taught myself how to rig them yesterday, after watching some videos on t riggin. I was always moving the body of the bait with my hand to put the hook through, but I learned to only bend the lure by bending the hook to get the bend in the bait and insert it through the lure through the bottom and out the top, and to apply pressure forwards towards the front of the bait while putting the hook through the bottom of the lure and out the top to keep the lure straight. Also, for flukes looks like I need to do Glenn's boiling method to get them to run straight, the action on those flukes are great
  23. I would, but I really can not rig soft plastic baits to save my life, I can not get it right, and I end up tearing the bait to shreds before a fish can ever bite it. Also, I have used flukes before, and they all run sideways or spin around in the water. Not sure why.
  24. Yeah the Weeki Wachee river really is nice because it is a spring that pumps out the water, I'm sure that's why the temp is constant. I'm thinkin of workin a crankbait along the edge of the river, I'd need a second pole to work a buzzbait, but buzzbait would be fun to try. Is the water temperature being 74 year round a good thing? lol
