Fishing Pointers Local River
Hello, not sure where to post this, please move as needed I am looking to rent a kayak and go bass fishing on my local river. My river is a spring fed river of clear blue water. It is 5 miles long, and after 5 miles it turns into brackish water. Apparently the first 5 freshwater miles of the river have canals that branch off from them, and I am not sure whether or not those canals are clear water or not. I have never fished clear water, and since I do not know if the canals are clear I don't know what kind of tackle to bring. I don't have much to work with but I could buy some lures, so maybe here is some points I could use advice on- -What kind of lures for clear water -Where can I find bass on this river (what structures, where should I cast) -What kind of tackle (line) -Any advice to catch a bass on this trip Water temperature is reported to be 74 degrees year round Where are the bigger fish goin to be on a river like this? Judging by that video I'm thinking of takin my strike king crankbait and covering water with it I do not know if he is on the main river or off on a canal, but that is the Weeki Wachee river. Thanks for any help

What Action Are Berkely Cherrywood Hds?
Would you guys take the 20 dollar Bass Pro shop rod, or a Berkely Cherry wood? Really I need a medium power, medium/medium light action good rod for under $35, maximum $40.

What Action Are Berkely Cherrywood Hds?
Ah. Not meaning for 20 q's, but does this apply to the Berkely Amp rod aswell? or just the Cherrywood.

What Action Are Berkely Cherrywood Hds?
What about fluorocarbon?

What Action Are Berkely Cherrywood Hds?
Berkely Amp is the same price basically as a cherrywood, what makes it better than the cherrywood? I just prefer the whole grip cover of the cherry wood as opposed to the AMP which has a large uncovered area of grip.

What Action Are Berkely Cherrywood Hds?
I don't fish anything crazy in terms of heavy cover, rocks, under docks, super heavy grass, so as long as it's not some terrible quality Rhino rod, I'm not too worried about it breaking, especially if it's a medium power rod, unless you guys tell me that these rods really do suck hard.

Cheap Yet Effective Jerkbaits
Baker lures suspending jerkbait seems to have good reviews.

Rattling Lures
Rattling lures, good or bad for LMB? Some people say that rattlin lures will scare fish away, does this claim hold any water? How about attracting bass? I'm looking to get a Rapala Clackin Crank and want to know if the rattle is a good idea or if i should avoid it. Thanks for any input.

What Action Are Berkely Cherrywood Hds?
Hello, I am looking at this rod http://www.reedssports.com/Product/product.taf?_function=detail&_ID=29023 . It is advertised as a Medium power, but I can not find anything about what action it is. Does anyone know? Many people seem to confuse power and action, much to the buyers dismay.

Removing Salt From Soft Plastic?
Hello, I just bought a new pack of zoom horny toads, the sticker says nothing about salt but they are salted. I would like to be able to use the lures as an underwater jerkbait not just a buzzbait, is there a way to remove the salt from the lure? Would boiling the lure work, and for how long to boil? Thanks for any help. Also, am I correct in saying that a salted lure floats more than an unsalted lure? Or is it the other way around?

Want A New Rod
Would I be able to use a light rod if I didnt use texas rigged plastics on it?

Want A New Rod
Howdy. I want to get a new rod. Currently I have a cheap rhino medium power, however I want to have more fun feeling the fish throughout the fight more with a light power rod. I would take either a spinning rod or a baitcast rod. I can't seem to find a light power rod that is atleast 6'. I would be using this rod for jigs, shallow diving crankbaits, jerkbaits, and texas rigged plastics. What action would suit those lures best, and can I put my 30lb spider wire braid on a light action rod? Should I even use a light action rod? If it is plausible, could I get a link to a decently priced rod, preferably under $65. Thanks for any help. I was thinking medium light action. Apologies this rod would have to also be 2 piece so I can fit it in my care, I'm searching the web hard can't find what I want :\ Haha wow do casting rods even come in light power?

New To Jigs
I do have some worms actually. How do I rig the worm onto the jig hook, do I do it like a texas rig or just insert the hoof into the work and pull it through, like the first half of a texas rig?

New To Jigs
Hello, please pardon my title as I am certainly not a fishing master. I purchased All terrain tackle grassmaster Jigs In 3/8 oz junebug color and 1/2 oz black and blue, and have a few questions. The lakes I fish are dark green, and are heavy with hydrilla/weedy cover, and the water is warm right now. My questions really are- How do I fish the jig, and is the jig viable without a trailer? Also, I have a couple of nice lillypad ponds in my area. Is it possible to use these jigs in lillypad ponds and not lose them? Thank you for any and all help

Lipless crankbaits
I caught this guy on a 1/2 oz Bill Lewis Chrome and Blue back Rat-L-Trap, really those things tear it up and they have great hooks I think.

hi and help
The SAME thing happened to me (lol and I'm 14) the key for me atleast, is I use rattle traps, but with the warmer waters i fish slow, slow everything down alot. Fish get lazy and don't feel like chasin thier food.

I Feel Horrible :(
Im not sure how healthy it would be to eat the fish in the lakes around here due to chemicals.

I Feel Horrible :(
Well I caught a nice 4 lber on a 1//2 oz. chrome and blue rat-l-trap. But the trebles got him so bad I meen in the mouth and out the mouth too, he was bleeding out his gills and all in his mouth. I kept giving him water while trying to get the hooks out but I couldnt so I was 100 percent forced to cut the line. He wouldnt revive so I kinda just pushed him and he started to swim but fell on his side and floated out. His tail was still flapping a little though. I believe he lives because he dived down and didn't float back up so i just pray he lived. I am pro life and the fact I almost or maybe even did kill another animal just makes me feel really bad. I think i did the right thing though and I handled it the best I could. I am going to stop fishing ANYTHING with trebles from now on because they are just cruel in my eyes now.
