  1. I would stick to the poppers, get the big ones with the long rubber legs. I have had a lot of luck with those, and thats all I did last year was catch bass on the fly. weighted flys dont seem like they would be very fun, seems like it would throw the cast off quite a bit, I have never used one, so I dont know. streamers work well too, but I havent had as much luck with them as I have with poppers. I have also heard that if you want a LM you should be using a slow retrieve, and SM's like a fast one, maybe try that too? you will get em man, keep castin....
  2. hey everyone. I am brand new to the forum, and relatively new to fishing with a spinning rod. I am mostly a fly fisher. I live in Iowa, but my inlaws live in Melrose MN, near st. cloud. anyway, I was goin over the new rules for 08, and noticed that the DNR says you no longer can sort or "cull" your fish. if it touches the live well, it is yours to keep. anyone know what the reason for this is? also, a little un related. but I am gonna be up there next week to put a new motor on a boat, and was looking to fish, I hear rock bass, crappies and sunnys are always an open season, anyone know if they might be bitin?
