I loved when they tried to shoot the bison with a .22 and actually thought that would take it down. and the same guy who shot the .300 thought a .22 would bring down that wolf they were "tracking" ;D
  2. so these self inflateables keep your head out of water? I had read that they didnt do as good a job as those old school orange ones. or are the more expensive ones better at keeping your head up?

I know exactly what you mean. I love watching the AK experiment, thats where I am from. its fun watching these groups struggling out there ;D
  4. sorry, I meant that the reel had a 12lb limit
  5. I dont get it. I have two spinning setups, and all these threads I read, or pros I see talking about setups, they all love the casting rods/reels. should I be considering a casting setup to add to the arsenal? can some one explain the advantages to a casting setup? they just seem like more of a hassel than anything, what with the constant birdsnesting I am always hearing about. I have heard that you can run stronger line on a casting reel, but the ones that I look at, have a limit of 12lb test, anything more then that and you are in the hundreds of dollars. so confused :-/

yeah, there were a couple episodes where he got caught not being the "expert" too. if you watch the credits there is someone who is credited as "survival expert".....shouldnt that be bear???? ;D ahhh well, some people like it for the production value, it looks cleaner than survivor man. I just dont like how in the AK episode, he was basically telling people its safe to just jump in the water and swim when you are stranded in the wild .....yeah, if you want to die out there!

I liked Deadliest catch up until the last few seasons. it is getting a little played out for me at the moment. I did a story on one of the boats that sank out there, the big valley, on the way back to anchorage we were on the same plane as the shooters for the show....2 of them we talking about how it was the worst experience of their lives....had to sleep bracing themselves with their elbows so they wouldnt fall out of bed ;D

I am waiting for someone to do an entire show on the camera crews that shoot these shows. they are moving like 5 times faster than the people they are shooting because they have to run ahead/behind/around/over/under their subjects to get all the right angles for the show. plus, lunch breaks? dinner? whats that? as far as survivor man, I will watch that over man vs wild anyday. bear gryls just annoys me, and he does all the wrong things! ;D
  9. agreed. call the DNR, or move on. catch and release is up to the person fishing (unless of course DNR says otherwise), and thats the beauty of living in the country right? so take a breath, and enjoy the fact that you are fishin, or move on and fish somewhere else. that being said, and so no one jumps down my throat, I catch and release ;D
  10. I WISH I paid 3.99 for fuel....I will be paying 5 within the next couple weeks for sure, and when you are at 5 I will probably be paying 6. so consider yourself lucky for now. as far as prices going up. I have been hearing that as far as diesel is concerned, when they made the lower sulfur content diesel it became aproved for use in Europe. so guess what we did? we started exporting a bunch of barrels to europe! sweet, so now we are paying for our oil to be manufactured and then sent somewhere else. I watched a hearing on the high diesel prices, and the chairman of the congressional hearing was tearin big oil a new one. but I doubt anything will ever happen, and sooner or later we are going to have to come to terms with the fact that this is what we are payin from now on. :-[
  11. I love how a lot of these involve sneeking something behind the wife and kids backs ;D you could get some scuba gear, and sit under water till they land, then pop up and grab em! hold on to them for a bit while they try and fly away, and then let them go, they will NEVER be back after that! ;D
  12. ;D ;D ;D wow...the kids will have nightmares of killing ducks for the rest of their lives.... ;D ;D thats terrible. as far as the youtube video posted above. I lived in an apartment in Vancouver BC that had a bunch of homeless dudes peein on the building, they did the same thing, had the sprinkler and everything. then the homeless guys got smart, peed somewhere else, and used the sprinkler to wash their hands ;D
  13. that was gonna be my second thought. ;D just wait till the kids are gone.
  14. get a dog, a retriever of some kind, bred to chase the ducks down. plus they would love to swim in the pool too!
  15. agghhhhh, you are KILLING me! ;D
  16. for those west coasters drinking alaskan amber and summer ale....you have NO idea how luck you are to live in a place that stocks that stuff. amber is my ALLTIME favorite, and I got spoiled being from the place that brews it. now I am stuck in the midwest, and everyone here refuses to order it for me. so I have to wait till I go to the parents new place in portland to get some. MAN I miss that stuff. kokanee (or high life) is the great "during a hard day of playin" beer. but amber is the "AFTER a hard day of playin" beer. if you feel like hookin a brother up, send some ambers this way man!! ;D
  17. if you look at his title and the truck in the background...I get the impression he is "on the job" with that turtle....I could be wrong though.
  18. ;D I will remember that.
  19. I guess that would be the advantage to common law? no anniversary to follow ;D
  20. yeah, this is just disgusting. I will be paying 160 bucks to fill up the rig. at least I get about 800 miles (if I am on the highway) out of a tank. so thats nice, but still. I picked up the road bike, and now that is my errand runner. the truck is now just a long hauler.
  21. try buyin diesel sometime....4.44 here today.
  22. why a fly fishing outfit?
  23. I dont think I have killed any yet, but my question is, some of you are talking about saving the meat, and taking it home, but how are you doing that? I mean, when I go fishing, I go for catch and release, so I dont bring a cooler, or anything to keep them cold for the drive home (usually 25 minutes or so). I am assuming there are some out there like me, what are you doin to save the meat?
  24. Chaddy. I just noticed you are in canada! you need to support the locals man! cove, banshee, rocky mountian and devinci are all canadian built. and sweet bikes!
  25. I am so out of the game since I moved here, but last I heard, specialized were some pretty sweet bikes. the demo series was awesome when it first came out. Foes, devinci, kona, all those brands were pretty sweet for different reasons. it really depends on what you are doin.
