Your talking to the new World Record holder for the Florida subspecies of snapping turtle ( Chelydra serpentina osceola) . I am not sure if its a record yet but its the biggest of this subspecies I have seen or ever seen anyone catch. If anyone has info on the record size of this species let me know . I am currently researching it.

Its nothing like an Alligator snapper but for that variety its large it swallowed a 9/0 stump hook and a bait meant for an alligator

A snapping turtle that big is probably more than 100 years old. Hope you let it go (though its days are probably now numbered if it swallowed a 9/0 hook).

Here's one of several snappers I found in my yard last August after they hatched in my flower bed.

(BTW, that's my hand, so that picture also qualifies as a picture of me.)
