Where are all the Illinois Guys ?
Hit Dawson yesterday. Temps were in the Low 60's on the north end shallows, and high 50's in the south end near the dam. They were starting to get a little more active on the north end in the shallows but weren't committing all the way. had a bunch of strikes, but only one fish on spinnerbaits.

well, didn't do great....only a couple of smaller ones, and a lot of short bites. Where we did get bit was on the windblown (wind was kinda rough) secondary points...that was kind of a surprise to me. Temps were consistent all the way from east of the coal shaft bridge, north of the railroad bridge and all the way down to coon creek...right around 48-49. In the very back of some of the coves it was low 50's. I'm guessing the rain and cold nights dropped the temp a bit!

yep, sure can, no problemo. We are putting in at Eagle and fishing the northern half of the lake...unless it really beats us, then we'll try for clearer water. As of about a week ago it was low 40's in the southern part of the lake, and mid/high 40's in the northern part. They just got about 1.5" of rain a night or two ago, and then of course cold last night and today...hard to say what its going to be like when we get there!

Where are all the Illinois Guys ?
howdy fellas... hittin shelbyville tomorrow!! WOO!! Technically my 3rd time out this season, but I don't really count the first two....got SKUNKED at Powerton in Feb, and only had about 25 sq ft of water to work with at evergreen about 2 weeks ago. was really just repairing the bunks on my trailer. lol http://www.scolba.com/bunks.html So has anybody been out on Shelby that might be willing to give a heads up on the pattern right now? This cold snap probably jacked it up real good, but just thought I'd check for a starting point!!

Canoe advice
if you aren't against used, keep an eye on local garage sales, classifieds, etc. That way you can get a longer one, for way less. Also, if you are looking at one for strickly ponds and lakes, get one with a keel. That will help with tracking. I too am looking for a canoe for some of our smaller rivers and streams here where I can't put my boat in...but it has to be on the cheap....so I don't even bother looking at new. You could also take on Low Budget Hookers method for Jon's and apply to canoes. There are a ton of them out there just sitting not being used: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/buying-a-used-jon-boat.html

Deep 14+ Crankbaits
New ones are def good lures. Same action, heck, probably same molds. Just different colors than SOME of the old ones. As for what happened to them, i have 2 theories. Neither one is probably right though. LOL! First theory: They were a previously seperate body, and then got purchased and absorbed by the company that owns bomber, booyah, heddon, cotton cordell, rebel, etc. Then the product lines got split up between Bomber and Heddon who still seem to product most of the ones that were once Excalibur. FFShad series, Spit'n Image, Pop'n Image. Second thoery: They were always owned by that conglomerate, and just decided to drop the name. Then absorbed the products as above. Maybe someone more in the 'know' can confirm or deny.

Deep 14+ Crankbaits
It appears that my local Dick's still had a box of the Excalibur's in the back somewhere. Dropped by yesterday, and low and behold....2 for $4. I about pooped. Needless to say I'm stocked up for a while! But yeah, I like the old colors better for sure. Though the Bomber white is pretty sweet.

trolling motor - should it be bent like this??
Thanks for the input guys! The shaft is perfectly straight when in the down position...so it definitely flexes back. I'm slightly concerned about the bearings at the joint there going bad from too much force on on side of it... I checked the motor for an adjustment like, but on this motor, there isn't one. I know what you mean because the one i just took off had that adjustment as well. Could it have anything to do with the collar that holds the shaft in place? I took the motor off of the mount to put the mount on the boat...made it much easier, but now i wonder if i didn't mess something up by doing that?? FFD...i sure hope not, but hey, i got a 2 year warranty that started about 5 days ago, so if so, oh well!!

trolling motor - should it be bent like this??
hey fellas, got a new trolling motor the other day (ran the old one into a rock bar....boh) got it mounted up today, and when i put it in the 'stored' position, i noticed this bend in the shaft. Doesn't look right to me!! It one of those 'indestructible' shafts from minn kota, but still..this curve can't be right can it? Did i do something wrong?? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks! How to find out the moon phase
I like using this one: http://www.sunrisesunset.com/usa/ Click your state and then find your town. Along w\ full, new, and quarters, it will give you sunrise and sunset, and moonrise and moonset times for that location.
