i say go for it, if your child doesnt enjoy it then you can always wait until they get older or try to make it funner, but if they do enjoy it theyll prob be hooked for life.

What age to start kids
haha i remember when my dad took me fishing when i was just 2 years old. I remember spending all night catching 5 pound striped bass and setting up the underwater light to watch the baitfish school around. it was those nights that made me crazy for fishing.

how long till bass naturally inhabit a man made pond?
Bass can get into ponds many ways, but typically they come in through feeder streams. Ive seen alot of small ponds that have been around for awhile with no bass in them, but then again there are some that i wonder just how the hell fish got in them.

Not really new....
hey everyone, not really new but i never did do an intro so here it is. I fish mostly small neighborhood lakes in the atlanta suburbs but occasionally go up to Lake Lanier with my dad. Im about to move down to Macon/Milledgeville depending on what college i go to and i cant wait to be done fishing bad suburb lakes. Been fishing since i was 2 years old but didnt really pick up artificial baits until acouple years ago. I did do a 25 page paper on Bass Fishing once (the teacher let us choose our own topic) and i used this site ;D This site is really useful and has helped me a lot when i needed info.

Need some help with a frustrating body of water...
I know how you feel, it seems like the only local lakes around my area are either overfished or underfished and full of midget bass. its hard to go off and search for the bigger fish when your shoreline fishing. One of these days im going to get one of the floating tubes from my neighbors pool put on my bathing suit and float out to the deeper water.

Atlanta Suburb fishing
im stuck in the atlanta suburbs by perimiter mall in Dekalb county. I have tried finding decent fishing but every lake i find is private and surrounded by housing. I have heard that Stone Mountain lake is pretty good but never tried it. I was just wondering if anybody knew of any decent fishing nearby.

Atlanta Largemouth Honey Hole
i wasnt there for the actual stocking, so i dont really know. There was always some water at the base of the dam so they mightve stayed there. I do know that there were some guys who stacked wooden boards ontop of the muck so they could scoop the fish up as they drained out of the lake. They said they might put some of the bass in one of the pools back in the swamps above the lake. I really have no way of knowing for sure though.

Atlanta Largemouth Honey Hole
yea they drained it about four years ago, used to fish it all the time after ball games and stuff. there were some massive carp and coy sitting out in the muck. i know they stalked it after that. only fished it afew times since then and didnt catch all that much.
-
Atlanta Largemouth Honey Hole
yea i live pretty close too, havent fished it much since after they drained it way back when.
-
Atlanta Largemouth Honey Hole
wow really? i never really bothered to fish it much, thought all the bass were caught out of there.
