1St Tournament As Coangler
Split the cost for the gas used on the water on tournament day. Other than that, just respect there boat and equipment. Try not to step in the seats, or leave trash around there boat. The rest of the boaters expenses have nothing to do with you. Just respect there stuff is the main thing. And the most important thing is have fun.

Lews Reels_Anybody Use Em'
I have 7 of these reels. They are matched with my new Denali rods. The reels are great. Well worth the money.

What Am I Doing Wrong
I am using a Denali Heavy action worm and jog rod. I am thinking it is the knot because a lot of times the line is curved a little bit at the very end when it breaks. I will work on this knot or try another one. THanks Guys.

What Am I Doing Wrong
This happens with different rods and any line from 10 lb to 15lb. I actually had a fish swimming off with a jig yesterday and broke the line on the hook set. I was using a brand new rod and brand new 15lb stren Floro. I had a Polimar knot tied. Maybe I am getting the knot wrong or something. I appreciate all the feedback from you guys. I will look at the knot and see if I am doing something wrong.

What Am I Doing Wrong
It seems like almost everytime I go fishing and catch a few fish that some time during that day I am going to break my line on a hook set. I used to think that it was the tungsten weights that I use cutting the line. So I started usineg a little rubber bobber stopper between the weight and hook. Yesterday I broke one on the hook set with a jig adn 15lb Floro. What could be causing this? You see the guys setting the hook as hard as they can no matter how close to the boat the bait is. I am about to just rig all my rods with braid and go at it like that. I dont know what I can change? Any suggestions?

Hey Have Questions About Fishing Coangler In Flw
I think the purpose of the finding a boater to link with is to have the same amount of boaters and co anglers that way no one is left out of the tournament. If you sign up early enough you never have to worry about making it in. But if you wait til the last week or so, there is a good chance you will not make it in the tournament. That is the way it has been in the division I fish. Most of the time you can get hooked up with a boater to sign up with that way you are guaranteed.

Non Boater Tips
Wow! It seems like some people think that the non boater should cater to the boater. I disagree with that. The non boater is not there to make sure the boater has a good day. If you both catch a fish at the same time, you worry about your fish and let him worry about his. I have fished a ton of tournaments as a non boater at the club level and in BFL tournaments. I have never had a boater stop fishing or help me with my fish befroe he took care of his. The main thing is to remember to respect his boat and his equipment. I agree with that 100%. Alway offer a fair amount of gas money. Dont bring a pile of equipment with you. I usually take between 4 and 6 rods with me. As long as they are not in the boaters way there usually is not a problem. I have a tackle bag and a plastics bag that I bring. Once again as long as it is not in his way there usually is not a problem. Just remember one thing, you both are there for the same reason. To have a fun and catch fish.

What's your end of year AOY standings?
We fish 11 tournaments a year in our club and I missed 4 of them so I ended up in 14th in the club standings. But I ended up 1st in the BFL South Carolina Division on the co angler side. Had 2 wins and a 3rd out of 5 tournaments. My best season by far.

Wire Question
I have a roll of wire and need to make straight pieces. What is the easiest way to make it straight. I have done it with my hands a little at a time but this is very time consuming. Any ideas would help.

I checked the Flw website. I didnt see anything on there anywhere close. Just maybe thinking someone up that way might have info on any other fairly large tournaments up that way.
-

Are there any BFL tournaments or Bass Weekend Series tournaments that go out within an hour of Moline Illinois. I am wanting to fish a tournament up that way and was wanting to know what trails are in the area.

What To Expect
So here is the deal. I fish an average of about 28 tournaments a year. Anything from the Thursday night tournament to the BFL. I am a local tournament director and Vice President for a local club. I am wanting to start my sponsor search. I am not looking for any money sponsors right now. I am basically looking to represent a couple sponsors on a tournament jersey and maybe some stickers on my truck. So far this year I have 8 top 5 finishes in different tournaments. This includes 2 wins and a 3rd place finish in the BFL. I guess my question would be, what is the best way to about my sponsor search? I know some of you guys have some experience in this and I would appreciate any advice.

What would you do?
This is the situation, a power plant lake with hot water discharge. I was there yesterday and there are a lot of fish chasing bluegill on the bank. There is a water visibility of about 8 feet or so. It is very clear for around here. My question is what would you fish with. I was thinking about a green pumpkin senko and a scrounger jog head with a green pumpkin skirt. Let me know what you think.
