  1. Thought it was still early, got a mean sunburn and a few smallies. This guy took a clouser.
  2. I hate the fact that I find the same thing. I try to tie things that are more creative but fact is the d**n wooly bugger just works. I love the bow river style bugger with a bit of deer hair at the head as well.
  3. I'll have to find a good campground and get down to that area and check it out. Nice fish.
  4. Best of luck. Should be good if these thunderstorms ever let up. I figure you are fishing the southern end, I am new to the champlain area so can't give you much info. I fish the northern portion the most anyway, hoping to make it down south soon. Let us know how you do. People are reading, just not posting.
  5. I have used the flyrod almost exclusively. Had been mostly fishing for trout but getting into bass more. I just bought a casting rod because I feel like I need to better understand the techniques to tie better flies for bass. Been getting them on clousers and palmered marabou flies with jig skirts. I would defineately like to see that sculpin pattern detailed.
  6. thanks hawg, I looked again and found the post from before. It is one of the split grip rods, I committed. now I gotta find a reel.
  7. Got a chance at an energy PT casting rod for $60 shipped on ebay. Any experiences with this line on the board? Something else in that price range I ought to be looking at? Thanks
  8. Note my screen-name, above poster is correct.
  9. It is probably your New Jersey karma working against you. Do many good deeds and you will see larger fish in the future. That or go fish around power plant effluent sites and the like, longer growing season around those areas. Kidding, keep at it, you will find them, try new spots, new techniques it will happen.
  10. Going to be a hot couple days this weekend. Best of luck. I won't be on Champlain, but I will be fishing.
  11. I have been fishing north of Burlington once or twice a week for the last few. Fish have come from really shallow water with good cover. That said it has not be real fast action, seems everyone I talk to and watch is doing pretty poorly. It warmed up for a week and got us fishermen excited but the temps just don't seem to be there yet.
