  1. I have the Saros and love it! Im using the 1000F, so I plan on giving that to the girlfriend and picking up a stradic 2500 when I get my BSR852 GLX senko rod hehe. The 1000 has just enough line for long casts, but after a few break offs or just general line clipping it starts to run out of spool when I really launch them out there.
  2. Ive tried every single pline made, and the only one I like is Halo. Its pricey for sure, but it is quite amazing. I can leave it on my spinning setup for months, has no slinky type memory, and is super strong. Doesnt start breaking when I tie a knot and tug on it after a couple months like these other lines. I dont want to switch my line that often, couple times a year max. Halo lets me do that, and the mist green is awesome All 6lb test on spinning setups unless noted: CX premium. Horrible. Memory was really bad, and it started breaking on me tying palomers after being on the spool maybe a week. Ripped it all off immediately and went back to Halo. Bought a 12 lb spool for my baitcaster but didnt bother putting it on yet since braid is on now. Flouroclear. Worked well, was quite strong at first but seemed to detiororate quickly. After about a month it was slinky status and broke knots when pulled on after tieing. Evolution. This is the stuff I put on my girlfriends spinning pole in 8lb test. Its quite a bit thicker then halo but does last a decent while. It starts breaking knots when tugged on after about 2-3 months. I just respooled her the other day to finish the spool off so probably wont buying that again. I think I remember trying CXX super strong but if I did it didnt make a good impression nor stay on my reel long. If I remember right it turned into a slinky within a few weeks. I really dont stress my lines that much, I always use ball bearing swivels to prevent twisting no matter what Im throwing. I mainly throw senkos with this rig, its the one in my sig. All sandy bottom where I was fishing too, very little weeds.
  3. Forgot to mention I dont mind sneaking around golf courses in the least either, that was my spot in Vegas lol. Please someone help me out! Im so hooked my next purchase is a Gloomis BSR852 GLX, but I need a place to use it!!!
  4. Just recently moved up from Vegas to the Reno area. Right now living about 200 feet from Sparks Marina, but try as I might I havent hooked into any bass quite yet. I know its winter and they are probably deep, but I havent heard of many fishing the Marina for bass anyway so not sure if there is even any in there. Supposed to be some spot plants, but who knows. I dont have a boat so shore fishing is all I can do. Float tube or pontoon is on my radar, just dont have the cash at the moment. I heard about Mason Valley WMR and Lahontan so far. Not sure if Lahontan would be any good for shore fishing, and Mason is closed till February. I really just want to find something close to the reno area where I can get my fix! I just dont have the resources to travel to far to catch fish. I dont mind if they are small, just something would be nice! Driving to the delta and clear lake is just too far. I know there is a couple clubs here but it sounds like thats all they do is drive to Cali to fish. I can make a couple trips a year probably, but really just looking for a small pond or res in the reno area to fish. Does anyone have any tips at all???? Im dying here, I havent hooked into a bass in months and its killin me! If anyone can help I would be in a ton of debt to you! A fishing buddy would be great too, Im all over that. I travel for work, but when Im in town I can pretty much fish any day all day lol. Im all catch and release as well, so I wont kill your spot I promise!
  5. You bought that one I was watching on Ebay didnt you!!! Wish I had the extra cash laying around, thats my dream rod right now. Great steal for almost 150 bucks off!
  6. my mistake was gamakatsu hooks that I use, but ya went and picked up some watermelon with black and pumpkin with black. Caught 3 largemouth in an hour, 2 were on the pumpkin and one was on a rapala floating jointed in tiger color. I used that because I gave my girlfriend the texas rig I felt bad she wasnt catching anything haha. Bass Pro in vegas for some reason doesnt carry ika's at all, so need to order some of those. But the senkos were amazing, and used RW's exact advice. Takes some serious patience but well worth it! Had a fish on first cast in with the slow bump method.
  7. Pretty much in the same situation man I heard theres bass in floyd lamb state park and sunset park, but they arent stocked they just made it in. But with all the fishing that goes on daily on those lakes, who knows if there is any left. They stock trout in the winter and catfish in the summer in both lakes. Echo bay could be a possibility, not sure how the shore fishing is like up there. I heard alot of tournys release their fish at the tires exiting the marina so if you can get down near there could be good. Other places I was told are up in Utah, sandy hollow and quail creek. They are pretty close to st george. From the info I looked up they look like they are good bass lakes, just far. Also I heard pahranagat lakes hold bass, but its way up the 93 almost to alamo, which is pretty much the same distance as st george. Thats all Ive found so far in two days of searching. Really you gave me the most hopeful spot so far lol.
  8. Wow, just read that whole thread and made me want to fish so bad haha! Ive never used plastics much to be honest until about 4 days ago, was up in michigan and caught a 3.8 and a 2.6lb smallmouth on one of the storm swim baits. Thats what hooked me on bass fishing, nothing like having them dance and jump out of the water! Im going to bass pro right now to pick up some yamamoto's, I already use their hooks for striper fishing. After that going to check out one of the urban ponds by the house. Thanks RW, ive been missing out on the senkos!
  9. PM'd ya Boz Looking for a place to fish in vegas and Im boatless so looking for some good spots!
