What a deal!
Went to Academy Sports today for some shotgun shells and thought I'd check on any clearance specials in the fishing reels. Just one in particular caught my eye. A Zillion marked down to $39.99. Needless to say, they only had one at that price. I can't stop smilin'. Steve

Laser Lure?
I thought exactly that last night. They couldn't seem to zero in on it. I probably should have slowed it down a bit. Still I think it would be cool. Steve

Wierd Anglers
LMAO! It's a hit! Right up there with "Mr. rolling cooler cooler roller guy." It's been a while since I've heard any real men of genius. Maybe they ran out of ideas. Have you seen the site with all the "Real men of genius/Real American heros" songs? There was a lot of 'em I never heard before. Steve

Wierd Anglers
I can hear the back up singer now........ "You're reeeeling it backwards!" Steve

Wierd Anglers
I enjoy watching the "i hooked a fish with my perfectly good rod and reel but i'm gonna get it to the bank by walking backwards" guy. Even funnier when they run. Steve

why does the forum take so long to load
I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago. Glenn suggested a few things, talked to the isp people. I dealt with it for a week or so, and I guess fixed itself. Been working fine so far. Only thing we could come up with was the problem started after Firefox updated versions. I dunno. All I can say for sure is, "loading slow" is an understatement. Steve

H20 bluegill swimbaits
I grabbed one of the 3.5" the other day. Haven't had a chance to fish it much at all though. Last outing I chunked it maybe 6 or 8 times. Good looking bait. It seems to run strait at a fast retrieve. I had to fish it pretty fast to stay above the weeds so I don't know what kind of sink rate it has. Only thing I didn't like was I couldn't get much distance. Has a bad case of the "whirly birds." Overall, I thought it was $8 well spent. Steve

No cheese with my whine today......
Thanks anyway. It's bad enough we're in the middle of a drought and there ain't but a couple of ponds with enough water to fish. I guess I'll grab my shotgun and a few shells for a little bird hunting. What's that? You mean the three drops of rain that fell yesterday has scattered all the birds. Dangit! On top of all that my computer and BR ain't jivin' so I had to wait for an eternity just to post this garbage! There is a small silver lining to this dark cloud looming over me. Iced down beer. Ha! H20 express questions
I have a couple of their "sammy" style top water baits and I love 'em. I also have a "Mettle" b/c reel that I like. So far those are the only items I've purchased in the H2O line. As far as the mono, I haven't heard any good reviews yet. For the rods, I've read mixed reviews. Overall I'd have to say it's a pretty good line of products. Steve

Spro Frog Sinking!
I can cast mine in open water and let it sit and they're still floatin' when I start walking 'em in. The only frog that gave me any trouble was my spro poppin' frog. I was in a hurry when I drilled the hole and forgot to trim it with the scissors. A couple of snips and it was good to go. Steve

Spro Frog Sinking!
I'm guessing with a hole in the very back of the frog any water flows out during the retrieve. Kinda like forgetting to put the plug in the boat. As long as yer scootin' along the water flows right out. Not that I've ever done that. All I can say for sure is it works for me. Steve

Spro Frog Sinking!
Yeah. Sorry I should have mentioned that in my previous post. I've done that to all my frogs and it works great. No more squeezing the water out. I believe it has increased the hook ups also. Steve

Speed clips and braid
We used something similar to the Berkley crosslock snap on our kingfish (mackerel) rigs in the gulf. Looks like the same design snap, with a barrel swivel added. Made leader changes a snap. : We quit using them after a nice size king straightened one out. Went back to using just a swivel. I'll have to check those out. Thanks ya'll. Steve

Speed clips and braid
I will continue to use clips with crank baits, with mono or fluoro of course. It's not that I don't want to retie, I just like the added action it gives. Especially a wake bait. I agree Wayne, trying to clip a heavy hook or even a torpedo a few times seems to make them "soft." I've noticed that on a few of them. I'll definitely check the next one I tie on. Steve

Speed clips and braid
I've used speed clips on crankbaits before with mono/fluoro with good results. Never lost a fish because of the clips failing and like others have stated, they give some baits more action. So I thought I'd try them on my froggin' rig. First cast with a white spro poppin' frog didn't even hit the water good and bam! I set the hook and got that broke off feelin'. Only it wasn't the line that broke, the speed clip failed. Maybe I had the drag a little snug, dunno. But I won't be using speed clips with braid anymore. Steve

Casting wacky vs. T-Rig
I'm pretty much "wacky" when it comes to Senkos so I can't say. I did however find that a wacky rigged Super Fluke will fly just about as far as a T-rigged Super Fluke. Steve

EAST=LESS/ WEST=BEST??? True or False...
Don't forget about "when the cow's are all laying down." My old man swears by that and "east is least." I never payed much attention to what the cows are doin' but I'm not much on fishing while the winds from the East. Steve

Clear finish for soft bodied frogs?
I should have mentioned I tried a fingernail polish topcoat but after a couple of casts it was coming off. It wasn't hard as nails brand though. I might have to try the krylons too. I think there's a couple of cans out in the shed. Thanks. Steve

Clear finish for soft bodied frogs?
Oh well, no biggie. Like I said, they'll kill one old or new. Heck yeah, Bell county is where it's at! It being hot and dry of course. Thanks. Steve

Clear finish for soft bodied frogs?
Is there any clear finish available you could apply to a soft bodied frog such as a Spro to protect the factory paint job? After a few fish and dragging it through the slop they look a bit rough. Not that it matters much to the fish, they'll annihilate an old one just like a new one. Thanks. Steve

Wacky-O-Rings
I've been using the "heat shrink" method with good results. Just slide a piece of heat shrink (about 1/4" wide) over the end of the bait, find near the middle, and hook the bait like you normally would. Works great, even with Gammy weedless finesse hooks. Steve

whats the best and or most reliable knot to use with braid
I've been using the San Diego Jam knot for everything. Hasn't failed me yet. Steve

farm pond with large bass
Same thing happened with a couple of smaller ponds I've fished. It doesn't take long for the bigger fish to wise up. I couldn't buy a bite on nuthin'. Then I threw a wacky worm. That got their attention. Steve
