Tennessee License
What part of the lake are you planning on fishing? A KY license will be all you need for about the northern 2/3's or the lake (To the hwy 79 bridge).

slow trolling for crappie with a spider rig
I've spider rigged a couple times but I'm certainly no pro at it. When I have done it we used 10 or 12 foot light action rods, with 2 hook crappie rigs on them. Head-hook a live minnow on each hook, drop it to where the bottom hook is about a foot off the bottom and repeat. There have been times when we have gone for hours without a bite but others (Reelfoot Lake!!!) where we have had 2 fish each on 3 or 4 poles at a time...If you are fishing for meat this is the way to go, if you're in it for the sport, not so much

KY Lake conditions?
I was down there last weekend and caught several bass but they were all small. The water was stained and VERY high when I left Sunday. Water themps were in the mid 60's but the rains may have colled it back down a bit.

Bass & Aquariums
LBH, this is somewhat true in most cases but not for the reasons most people think. A fish will not simply stop growing so that it is able to fit comfortable within a tank, there is not "growth switch" they can just turn off at will. What happens in the majority of cases that lead to the proliferation of this myth is that they reach a size at which the tank is no longer able to support the bioload (read poo) generated by the animal and they essentially slowly poison themselves to death. I have seen many oscars and red tailed catfish who grow terrible deformed because of being kept in tanks too small for them, a very hardy fish may survive in poor conditions for a while, but they will eventually die due to poor water quality and the stress associated with it and with not being able to turn around. I'm no tree hugger, but intentional animal cruelty is a big sore spot with me. If you can't provide for the animal and it's ultimate size please don't get it, it won't grow into your tank then simply stop growing... Also, EVERYONE, please never keep a fish in an aquarium and then release it back into the wild. Doing so opens the possibility of introducing non-native disease and pests into our waters, and it is quite illegal in most places... OK, I'll get off the soapbox now, gotta go pack...heading to Kenlake in a few hours (gotta get out of town before the KY Derby crowd gets here )

Bass & Aquariums
I have kept aquariums for over 20 years and like CWB I've kept just about anything that swims. I would stay away from bass as a first fish, if for no other reason because they are messy and can quickly foul a tank up. Most of the natives you are likely to be familiar with will outgrow a modest sized tank, but there are some really neat smaller natives to be found from time to time if you know where to look. I have a black madtom catfish that I pulled out of a bag full of crappie minnows last year that is really cool, kind of like a little channel cat and they max out at about 6 inches. There are also some smaller sunfish around. Tropical Fish Hobbyist magazine just had (last month and the previous months issue) a 2 part article on North American sunfish that had alot of good info. I don't have a ton of experience keeping natives but will be happy to help you in any way I can...just let me know

Break Free CLP
I haven't used WD-40 on them either...I did clean a couple of UL Spinning reels with it and used them yesterday...worked GREAT! No I need to go get another can before I shoot again though...

Break Free CLP
Has anyone used Break Free CLP to clean and lube their reels? I have a little left in a can (I use it to clean and lube handguns and LOVE it) and I have a couple of cheap reels that I want to clean and lube up for spring...any problems with it?

BPS hook quality?
I bought a pack of BPS trebles a few weeks ago and noticed when I got them home that the package has the VMC logo on it and they look just like the comparable VMC hooks...could BPS have VMC package their hooks to sell as BPS hooks???

Rage Products Questions
I have actually bought some of the Rage products (Toads, Shad and Craws) at my local Walmart for under 5 bucks a bag. They don't have the selection you would find at BPS but they usually have what I want anyways. I have looked for them in other Walmarts around here and most don't carry them, but a few do...check it out.

Wallet reference card
I got one of those last year in a pack of Northland baits (Slurpies shiners I think)...

Are the Trutungsten swimbaits available in Bassproshop stores?? Nashville?
mrbassky...where are you traveling from? There is a Gander Mountain in Bowling Green KY that I like to make a short detour to whenever I go South (I live in Louisville)...Baitmonkey says you should make the detour if you are taking 65 to Nashville...

Favorite catfish gear!
Chicken liver catches more catfish for me than anything, but usually wants to fly off the hook (you can wrap a piece of cheesecloth or pantyhose around it and work that onto the hook to help it stay on). Beef liver and nightcrawlers also make good catfish bait.

Jackall Mikey, R2S V-Joint, Optimum Minnow, MS Slammer, Deps
Don't know if I could spend the money to get one but I recently got several Jackalls sent to me with a Mikey being one of them...I haven't caught anything on it yet but did get out yesterday to play with it and the thing looks GREAT in the water...can't wait for spring!

2 armed spinnerbait...ID anyone??
Looks like you guys are right on the money with a Bomber Bushwacker. Now for my next question...should I keep this put up someplace or would it be something you would use (read: is this a collectible item or just a strange little lure)? I'm not interested in selling it, but if it is something really uncommon I would rather get it to someone that will appreciate it as more than just a spinner bait (guess the coin collector in me is just coming out, except I know coins).

2 armed spinnerbait...ID anyone??
I was suprised to see the skirt in the condition its in...I could tell it was old before I bought it but the skirt feels like it is still very strong.
-
2 armed spinnerbait...ID anyone??
The skirt feels like nylon or something along those lines, I haven't seen many like it for sure.

2 armed spinnerbait...ID anyone??
I just want to make sure it is nothing of any value before I take it out (and knowing my luck loose it on the first cast then find out it was worth a house payment). The place I got it is kind of like a Gun shop/indoor flea market...you really never know what you are going to find in there.

2 armed spinnerbait...ID anyone??
I don't collect lures and bought this one to use...just trying to figure out how foolish I would be to do so... but you are right, it is a cool spinner 8-)

2 armed spinnerbait...ID anyone??
Picked this up a couple of weeks ago but have no idea who made it or how old it is..any ideas???

Other than black bass, what do like to fish for the most?
Normally I HATE catching drum, but I nailed a 23 inch one this spring at the Falls of the Ohio while fishing for sauger on ultra-lite gear and man was it ever a blast! Took me a good 15-20 minutes to play that slimy beast in

I'm a big fan of Sauger and Crappie, both are fun to catch and can usually be found from the shore when it is to cold for me to chase bass.
