  1. Could be thinking about Bobby and Cavitron BuzzBaits...they are some of the best I have used and Bobby is on this site regularly.
  2. Regular price at the one closest to me...I guess maybe it's my own fault for buying so many of them before...I buy them; they move in the store; they move so they won't mark them down >
  3. Looks like I'm feeding the bait monkey on the way home from work today. Thanks for the heads-up!!
  4. I tried it and found it to be rather like fishing with dental floss...except the crystal wasn't as strong :-?
  5. Sorry...didn't think about that :-[
  6. Now theres an idea I like the sounds of!
  7. The buddies pond I mentioned above drops to 35' in the middle and is fed by 2 springs. Granted it is an unusual pond, but not all small ones will dry up. You are right that they are probably not worth fishing if you know nothing about them...but why not spend a couple days finding out for sure.
  8. The best pond I have ever fished was only about 3/4 acre...there has been on 6 pound SMB and 2 LMB's over 8 pounds caught there this year...but the owner is very careful with managing it and they feed it 10 pounds of minnows every other month Spring-Fall
  9. Thanks...the Clarksville, IN store had the same deal, I stocked up!
  10. I still catch a few in KY Lake this time of year...drop a minnow tipped Pop-Eye jig over DEEP (at least 20') structure and let if drift down to them. They seem to school tight, so if you get one stick around and there are usually quite a few more...
  11. I recently shipped a 2 pc rod (each pc about 3.5') for $14 via UPS Ground
  12. I know the ones in KY Lake have seen the 10" Anaconda...and apparently they liked what they saw ;-)
  13. Many thanks for the video Glenn. I fish spinner baits on the majority of my outings and still picked up a thing or two. Can't wait for more videos!!!
  14. I've gotta get some of those spinnerbaite ASAP!
  15. I can't wait to get my hands on some...thanks for the post!
  16. I fish the hocus locust sometimes around here and have had some luck with it, I would say no more or less than with the jitterbug though. I do only use it in the late summer after the locust have started to die back...not sure if it would work as well any other time.
  17. I caught one at KY Lake last weekend that was right at 24" and I would have guessed it at no more than 4 pounds! It was by far the most stretched out bass I think I have ever seen...I would have put it in the live well to get a weight and some pictures but it was caught on a jug so it had to be released immediately...weird fish though!
  18. X2...I'm 6'2, 320 and have an above average sized melon, glad I'm in good company!
  19. I got a 15 dollar "Big Man" Boonie hat from BPS in the spring and I love it. But I live in KY so my thresh-hold of what may seem like a short-bus idea could be different from yours
  20. When I go catch dinner brim, I use an ultra-light spinning set-up with 4 or 6 pound line, a bobber, a couple of split-shots, a small (size 8 or so) long-shank hook and a dozen nightcrawlers. Cut off about a third of a nighcrawler and hook it several times, throw it out and wait for the bobber to do it's thing...won't usually take long
  21. Sounds like the Tru-Tungsten and Matts Baby Bass may be the way to go then...Thanks guys!
  22. So I'm thinking I may take the leap and get a few good swimbaits (and hopefully shut the bait monkey up for a while :-[ ). I mostly fish smaller water (less than 20 acres), sometimes fish Taylorsville and a few times a year I spend a long weekend at Kentucky Lake. Problem is, I'm in the same boat as everyone right now and money is tight so I wanna be sure I'm making a good selection. Right now I'm thinking about a Mattlures Ultimate Male Bluegill and a Mattlures Baby Bass, but I have also been looking at the Castaic Catch 22's and really like the looks of their Bluegill. Has anyone tried the Mattlures AND the Castaic gill's? What do you like/dislike about each? Which do you guys prefer? James
  23. The company I work for has an annual Bass Tourney to support the Metro United Way. This year it will be at Nolin on 6-28. I would like to fish it but being that I have no boat I need a friend to help out...only one of the two people in the boat need to work for the company. I don't know Nolin well at all and I'm not much of a tourney fisherman either, just looking to get out and fish in the name of a good cause! If anybody is interested please let me know. James

  25. Depends on how long it takes me to get my boss to let me leave work ;-) ...her son also has the bass fever though so she understands
