When you think you've seen it all....
At 15 bucks each I think I'll stick with LC's... It is an interesting idea, just not something I think I need out of life.

swimbaits. brands not to touch.
If by bad luck you mean having numerous big bass hit them and literally tear the bait apart because they want it dead, then yeah I've had "bad" luck with the baby bass too QUE? I dont see "bad luck" anywhere in there... :-? WOW...I completely mis-read that! Gotta start waiting till at least noon to start drinkin' :-[

Glow-sticks and catfishing
I use black electrical tape to attach them to rod tips or to bobbers when I'm night fishing, I always have a roll of the tape in my tackle bag now.

swimbaits. brands not to touch.
I doubt I'll buy any of the Storm soft swimbaits again. I have tried several different ones and have found that about 2 out of 5 won't swim right and even the ones that do don't get much bass love...It's a shame, some of them look great, they just don't work for me.

Crappie n00b
Pop-eye jigs tipped with a live minnow. That combo has been the end of many crappie...(I have also stuck numerous LMB's in the 3.5-5 pound range on it)

unhooking catfish?
I always grab them by the underside. Put your thumb just under one pectoral fin and put the other between your middle and index fingers. Don't hesitate on it and make sure your grip is tight enough that it can't squirm around. I have never had one close the pectoral fins on my fingers but I have had them wiggle enough for the back side of the spine to cut into my finger. Catfishing is a good way to get rid of extra blood no matter how many times you do it but like etommy28 said, freshwater cats are not much to worry about...

chain pickerel (do you eat them?)
I ate this one...and after tasting it I will be eating the next one I catch too...he was quite tasty...

Stren Super Knot?
I had a friend that bought some and I fished it a little while we were out one day. I didn't care for it at all...seemed to have no real advantage and it seemed cumbersome and stiff, I didn't notice any real line abrasion but I also didn't like it and only threw it 10-15 times before I went back to my YoZuri Hybrid. IMO there are several better lines for the money and if you tie a good palomar knot and moisten the line before tightening it you don't need super knot strength

Does anybody else use bps hooks
I use the trebles sometimes and have yet to have a problem with them. They really don't stick out as overly good or bad to me. On a side note, I have peeled the label off of several bags of them and found VMC logos on the package underneath...not sure why it was there but it was...

Asian Carp
I believe they have a couple of pretty big money bow fishing tourneys for them each year around KY and Barkley Lakes. They donate them to local game reserves for feeding rehab animals and injured/non-releasable eagles and such. I have been luck to not have caught one thus far...I know they are destructive and I know they should be destroyed, but I hate to kill anything I don't plan to eat. I hear they are actually very tasty, but very hard to clean!

Yo-Zuri Hybred
I would say that I love the line overall. Use the 6 or 8 pound on your spinning gear unless you have some large caliber reels (I use 12 on my BPS Pro Qualifier size 4000 with no problems). I really think it is superior to mono and doesn't have some of the negative properties of fluoro...it is strong, can be used top water (sinks, but not like fluoro) or under, and is pretty abrasion resistant. Again, I would say all that but instead I'll say...the line is junk, you should send me all the spools of it for $1 each and I will safely "dispose" of it for you

Square Billed Crankbaits
6 for 36$, you got a steal. Excellent purchase, count me as jealous. I wish I could have gotten all 4 sets they had...but I like being married more than I like Lucky's on sale (most of the time anyways)

Square Billed Crankbaits
Haven't got to try them yet but I picked up a pack of 6 Rick Clunn special Lucky Craft's from BPS last weekend for 36 bucks ...can't wait for spring!

Fishing Partially Iced-Over Lakes
WAY TOO LONG!!!

Fishing Partially Iced-Over Lakes
The smaller one was on a pop-eye tipped with a live minnow (trying to find crappie). He was about 4 feet down and 15 feet off the shore but right against a bunch of ice that had formed in an eddy. The other was caught on a jig, with a cut down Rage Tail Lobster, that I was actually reeling in to re-cast (so I guess it would count as swimming it)...he came up from between some shallow (1-2 feet) rocks, right off the shore and again right along the ice. Surprisingly he hit it like a freight train! As for staying warm...I'm kinda thick skinned when it comes to it, worked almost 10 years third shift outside...I think the warmer you keep your body the warmer your hands will be overall but a good pair of bibs that have hand slits are great. When your hands get too cold, take a break, take off your gloves and get your hands close to your body and out of the cold. I hate wearing gloves and even the other day I only had a thin pair of fleece ones that I wore less than half the time. You would probably be better to keep the latex gloves as a middle or outer layer...whenever I put them on they make my hands sweat and that is a recipe for disaster when it is that cold...I'd put on the UnderArmour, then the hand warmers, then the wool and top it off with the latex. Seems like the latex works best when you just use it to keep the others dry and to keep the wind out...

Fishing Partially Iced-Over Lakes
Try to find moving water...I fished a local tail water the other day and caught 2 LMB's (1 and 2.5 pounds)...most of the water was not frozen but there were parts that were solid. Both of the ones I caught were right on the ice line (may very well have been hanging right under the ice). Ambient temp was 17 when I went out and 12 when I finally gave it up (ran out of daylight).

Caring for BPS Pro Qualifier reels
Thanks for the info all! I gotta decide now if I want to take the job on or not. I may start by tearing apart a couple cheaper BC reels I have just to get a feel for it...

Caring for BPS Pro Qualifier reels
So, I'm not new to fishing by any means but I am kinda new to having better quality gear (by better I mean not the $10 Walmart special). I have a couple BPS Pro Qualifier reels (BC and Spinning) that I would like to deep clean and re-lube and I don't know where to start...anybody have any insight for me? I wouldn't ask but I am VERY good at taking stuff apart...not so good at putting it back together sometimes ;-) and I don't wanna screw up a few hundred dollars worth of gear by being hard headed.

BPS Brand suggestions.....
I'd pick up some of their spinnerbaits and a bunch of treble hooks if you need them. The BPS treble hooks I buy are (I think) VMC hooks with different labels (peel the label off and you will see the VMC logo)...
