  1. The places that I fish at suck so getting motivated to go is sometimes hard to do. I will definitely say that I have been much more of a Tackle Junky lately than a fisherman but that's ok with me.
  2. No hands on experience with the Lews but with my Shimano's, when I hear a little squeaking sound when reeling, I put a drop of Bantam Oil on a Q Tip and I rub it around the brake drum and the squeaking goes away. Before I posted this, I looked up your reel and I saw that it has Centrifugal Brakes too so it's worth a try.
  3. Before I buy the Loomis, I would check out the Falcon Lowrider Salt Series. The Falcon Coastal can be found at Wal Mart for about $90 and just handling it in the store, it feels like a darn nice $90 rod but for me, I would splurge and get the Lowrider Salt. Sirsnookalot should hopefully be by and give his very educated opinion. He likes the Hurricane Redbone rods and I believe Star Rods and they can both be had at DSG for around $100. BTW, Loomis doesn't make custom rods. What they make are some of the best mass produced high end rods around and a bunch of lesser rods that are for the most part, overpriced.
  4. Thanks and it will be my pleasure to give a full report if I can get motivated to go fishing. LOL
  5. I was thinking the same thing.
  6. Not an expensive combo but they look great and I have not seen them anywhere but on Samurai Tackle's website. Fuji Premium Hookkeepers. Gold and Black and Gold. They also have silver.
  7. Thank you Matt I am sure that you would agree that pics do not do the Poison Glorious justice. It was love at first sight when I opened the box and pulled it out. It is all down here from here. I thought that buying JDM reels was great but the JDM rods take it to a whole new level.
  8. The 802 is a sweet stick and would probably be just what you are looking for but I would not use a 3/8oz weight. When I had mine, I used a 1/4oz bullet weight + a smaller soft plastic like a Trick Worm or a 3/16oz Finesse Jig + trailer or an unweighted Super Fluke and they handled those weights with no issues.
  9. I have a set of those knobs on the way from Shimreels and if I like them, I will be buying more. I hope they feel as good as they look.
  10. Thank you! No. The Poison Ultima was supposed to be next on my buy list but I wanted to get the PG Multirole while Samurai Tackle had it in stock. I am now saving for a PG Hardbait Finesse or the Poison Ultima 162L-S and if a Hardbait Finesse doesn't turn up, then I will get the Ultima. The Hooligan has the PU 162L-S.
  11. Aldebaran Mg7 and Poison Glorious combos. At the top is a PG164L Multirole and at the bottom is a PG168L Long Distance.
  12. Well if you know of a better site to buy JDM reels than Japan Lure Shop, why don't you do everyone here a favor and mention it.
  13. I have always wondered if mixing Shimano and Megabass was the right thing to do and I am still undecided on it but right or wrong, your combo looks great.
  14. I know of Japan Lure Shop Digitaka Japan Tackle Japan Angler Bass JP Plat Samurai Tackle Ichiban Tackle Hedgehog Studios for dress up and performance parts. Other sellers also sell dress up and performance parts. There are JDM reel dealers on eBay too. The guys over at Tackle Tour mention a place called Tackleberry but I believe that it is a lot different in that they do not ship to the U.S.. Last that I know of is Rakuten. Dwight Hottle told me that it is the Amazon of the Far East. The addy that you want to use is global.rakuten.com/en I have personally used Plat, Japan Tackle, Bass JP, Japan Lure Shop, Samurai Tackle and I have bought from various JDM sellers on eBay.
  15. You're making this way more difficult than it needs to be. Just go to Japan Lure Shop or any of the other stores that sell JDM reels and buy the Shimano that you want and you are guaranteed to get a JDM Shimano. If you need a list of the JDM stores, just ask.
  16. HEG is a solid difference and to be honest, I have no intrest in reels that big so I haven't done my research but in the smaller TE's and Conquest's, the Conquest's have more bling and forged parts like the handle and drag star.
  17. I use FedEx exclusively for rods and it usually around $30 + -.
  18. Have a great job and married with children (and a huge mortgage) won't matter.
  19. The TE's (Total Efficiency), have more bearings, High Effiicency Gearing, they are smoother, they are the better reel and they are the USDM version of the JDM Calcutta Conquest though not as refined as the Conquest. If you want a 400 for swimbaits, there is a particular video on YouTube by Southern Trout Eaters and the guy loves his CTE400GT.
  20. Stu, Japan Lure Shop has the new Conquest 300 for around $12 more than Tackle Warehouse's price on the Calcutta 300D and you could probably find the old model CNQ300 for less than that.
  21. HS, the regular action on the Volkey BFS is moderate?
  22. This must mean the new Curado has no bearings in the knobs cause the new Curado has 5 + 1 bearings. We learn something new everyday cause I thought the new Curado has 2 bearings and 2 bushings.
