I agree. I have 2 rods with micro guides, and using the same reel, line,and casting weight can tell no distance in casting distance. I can see where they do reduce weight a bit tho. And the argument if them keeping the line from slapping around the guides makes me wonder what kind of coiled up, kinked up line would do that on a casting reel lol. I think it's just another phase of the fishing industry and wonder in a few years if the trend will go back to traditional guides because "they're bigger and create less friction than Micros" Also have a Tatula, and as far as the t-wing I could take it or leave it. I understand the concept of it reducing the angle of the line coming off the spool but still think it's kinda funny, we want the big, wide t-wing, but then funnel it through a dozen micro guides.

I think it depends on the handle length. If you put a 6ft rod next to a 6'6" rod and hold them trigger to trigger, I've noticed there may only be an inch or 2 of the actual length from the reel seat to the rod tip. A lot of rods nowadays have such a long handle it makes the rod seem shorter.

If you haven't already done so, I'd try to get my hands on each one mounted on a rod at your local tackle store. Even to though the Tatula is supposed to be "compact", it's still a bigger reel and is gonna fit your hand different than the other two.

I have that rod, but in the original black version. Probably my most versatile rod. Square bills and shallow to medium cranks, jerk baits, 3/16 to 1/4 oz spinnerbaits, and poppers. It's my "anything but a worm or jig rod".

I didn't think the Pro G was a dual brake reel, I was thinking it had the externally adjustable ACB system.

You can get the MB on the big auction site for slightly over $100 NIB. I have one and it's one of my favorite reels.

Maybe he was just a little over zealous and a better title might have been "first impression", not "review". I think we've all felt that at some point when we get new tackle. You could do a "first impression of my Aston Martin sitting in the driveway" ?. Congrats on the new rod EG. Hope you catch many big 'uns on it!

I don’t have 300 but I do have the 320. It’s very smooth and solid and cast baits over 3/8 oz we’ll but anything lighter, not so much.

The one like greentrout posted was actually a Silstar rebrand from several years ago. Pinnacle Pro Series from an eBay listing. Just different handle knobs.

I'm curious if Pinnacle is gone. I checked a few online stores including Academy and DSG, no Pinnacle products ?

Odd, I can't find their website either. I did find their Twitter page, but the link to their website wouldn't open. I have 3 of the original black ones. I’ve looked at new ones in the store but don’t own one, but wouldn’t hesitate to buy one. Great rods, especially when you catch them on sale.

It honestly depends on who's doing the review. If it looks like plan ol' John Doe just doing a review to share information, I might pay a little more attention. But if it's someone who stands to gain something or has some time of financial link to the product...not so much

If memory serves, that was an old Ugly Stik commercial. Is a Lightning Rod just beneath your standards? I still use a 5 and a half foot ultra light Lightning Rod that's 31 years old. I've caught thousands of fish on that little rod. Had a Lightning Rod 6'6 casting rod I used for years with no complaints. This thread makes me want to take a closer look at the newer ones

Those were actually made by Pinnacle\Silstar. Bass Pro Shops had some identical reels back about 2000.

I think the price went up to $119, or at least that’s what they’re at on Tackle Warehouse. I got mine for about 85 bucks a while back. When I got mine, i did a a little test for sensitivity. I tied a 3/8 ounce jig on the Fury, a BPS Carbonlite (one of the older black models) and a Powell Inferno. Using the same line on each one, with a long cast down my asphalt driveway and dragging the jig back, sensitivity was pretty much equal with each rod. The Powell was probably the most sensitive of the 3. Unscientific I know lol.

I've not used a Ghost, but if you're using the rod for tip down presentations, the Fury will be ok. From handling the Ghost rods in the store, I'd get the Ghost for tip up presentations. If you're planning on using it for worms, jigs, or presentations that require sensitivity, the Fury is about average for similarly priced rods. I have the Fury 663C.

I don't own one, but used a friend's earlier this year. It casted well but sure didn't feel like a $160 reel. For that price, I think there are much better options. The Tournament MB comes to mind if you're set on Lews. I own one and it's a sweet little reel.

BPS rods are a good bargain too and go on sale frequently

I have a tournament MB and a Tatula CT Type R. Of the two, the Tatula Is the better caster. I think magforce Z is the best braking system going right now. But the MB fits my hand much better. The Tatula is long and narrow, and I can honestly tell a difference in the balance on my rods because it’s kinda front heavy if that makes sense. The MB is a great caster, don’t get me wrong there. I would recommend going to the store, mounting both on a rod and just see how they fit in your hand.

I’m sure KK makes some fine products and I’ve close to buying an Assassin. It’s just a bit odd so many ppl reviewing these reels and my first question is “did all these ppl actually pay for these products?” and what do they stand to gain.

I wouldn't get too hung up on the drag specs, unless you're catching 18 to 30lb bass. I'd go to your local tackle shop, mount both on a rod and see which one feels best in your hands. The 4600 will most likely be the more durable, longer lasting of the two, but sits pretty tall on the reel seat and weighs a good deal more.

I have a Tournament MB and it’s a one of my favorites. I fished a friends Mach Crush a while back and it wasn’t near as smooth as the MB.
