  1. Mine was a 40lb thrust bow mount that I bent, come to find out that it was a aluminum shaft. Took it to a Motor Guide service center and had it repaired, replaced the shaft with a Stainless Steel one and work's great and a lot tougher. $132.50.
  2. Go back to the shop, one of the mechanics probally has several in their tool box. I always had a drawyer full of left over/excess parts and it came in handy several times.
  3. Wish I was closer to you LBH would help in a minute, when you finish a project of like that you go away with a great inner feeling about yourself, and see the emotions and the expressions of some of the kids over catching a fish, any fish, something we take for granted. My hat's off to you, you'r doing a great thing. Congrats on the Moderator Appointment, Glenn made a good choice.
  4. Someone correct me if I am wrong but you did say portable small motor. You can't lay a 4-Stroke down in the back of your truck like you do with the 2-Strokes. Remember they have a oil sump with a couple qt's of oil in them, big mess in the truck or oil going by the rings and hydraulic locking the motor. They have to stand up during transportation. Like I said if I'am wrong correct me, not to old to learn.
  5. Revenge is sweet when you have time to plan it, remember "Patience GrassHopper" You did the right thing, now if they pull that again!!!!!
  6. I lost my Dad the same day in 2001 that Dale Earnhardt died, he was a big Dale fan and had watched the race, now he was in failing health and we knew the end was near, it was just ironic how things happen. He was a fisherman as far back as I can remember, but a very conservative and practical man. His boat was a modest 14' runabout that he converted for his fishing. I got the boat and his tackle box, my son and I fixed it up to suit our needs and used it for a couple of years but outgrew it and got a larger boat. Well the other day I seen the tackle box sitting on the shelf and realized I had never opened it. It was a Plano plastic box that opened from either side, one side was all his Crappie stuff, (He was a Crappie fisherman) and Bass on the other side, as it sat on the deck of my boat surronded by 8 rod's and at least 25, 3600 & 3700 plano boxes crammed full of necessities. How simple he had made the sport, influenced by advertising, not even, he had what it took to catch fish, nothing more, nothing less. I can't remember a time when we visited that a fresh fish dinner wasn't on the menu. Well when I put the box back on the shelf I told myself that I would look at it more often to remind me to use what is between my ear's and not what is in my wallet. Then maybe I could have a fresh fish dinner more often. Thanks for listening.
  7. This was at Wyandotte County Lake and they were using the jug's as reels, I was facinated at how far they were casting.
  8. Not getting out to fish much this weekend I went right after work yesterday. Well as I was heading up the lake to my favorite spot I noticed 2 younger Mexican men tossing a lure in the water from the bank, I slowed down to see what they were doing. They had 2-Liter pop bottle's wrapped with fishing line and had a rattle trap tied on one. The other one had a catfish rig tied on. I had to stop and just watch as these two fished their homemade rigs, it was amazing to me. After a brief talk (his broken english and my very poor spanish) I started to leave and the older one showed me his stringer, two nice size Drum's 3-4 lbs. He lowered his stringer back into the lake laughing and rubbing his belly as to say "you know where these are going". All my rods and reels, the boat, boxes of tackle, and here I am getting outfished with Pop Bottles, how humbling is that.
  9. Shimano Cardiff, the other Round Reel Okuma Expior 30, that is one awsome reel for the money.
  10. Fishing different bodies of water has helped, but I think the most help for me has came right here on the Internet. You can keep abreast of the whole country right from your keyboard, not as much fun as the water, but makes the on water experience more productive. Learned a lot over at Bill Dance Outdoor's but the BS going on over there now has driven away many knowledgable people, hope some of them land over here, not trying to bash BDO they just need to take control of their site. Thanks Glenn you do a "GREAT JOB" here.
  11. This is probally a silly question but, when using a depth finder is the depth shown on the screen the actual depth from the surface or from where the transducer is located.
  12. A buddy of mine got a hook stuck in his arm past the barb, and you know that is a trip to the ER. While being prepped the Dr. was removing a crankbait (both trebles) that was inbedded in the face of a 4 yr. old girl. Not wanting to be more invasive they had cut the hooks apart, the Dr. took a sewing needle, eye end first inserted over the barb and rolled the hook out. The Dr. a young oriental woman told my buddy the idea came to her while calming the little girl, and her dad down. Not wanting to make any more incisions than necessary. When she got to my buddy she applied something with a Q-Tip and inserted the needle eye over the barb and rolled the hook out, he said it took longer to explain than to do. Both patients left with only Band-Aids
  13. I have been told that larger fish 3lb and larger seem to store the toxins in their body whereas the smaller ones don't have that problem. That is not a problem for me because I very seldom catch anything over 3 lb, maybe I need to change lakes. As far as eating fish, we love it , try marinating fillet's in Italian Dressing for a couple of hours and put them on the grill, be ready for a suprising difference.
