Backing Question
I use 14lb mono for 20lb and 30lb braid I have never had my main line pulled to the backing as I only use enough backing to cover the spool to the point I don't see the bottom of spool anymore.. Tight Lines Pa Angler

Tolling Motor Shaft Lenght ??
I have a 52" on a Nitro Z7 I do fish some rough open water a 45" will come out of the water on the wave peak I have had the 52" pop out. It all depends how rough the water is that you fish I fish the St Lawrence River and Lake Ontario in some of the kinds of water that Brandon Palaniuk fished this past year in an Elite tournament that he won in NY. What's Wrong With Nitro?
Hello, Check out the Hooked Hull post in this forum. I have a 2011 Z7 boat that is being replaced by Tracker Marine with a 2014 Z7 do to a hook that developed in the hull I purchased mine through a stand alone Tracker dealer and most of the dealer issues I have read about come from boats purchased through BPS. Before the hooked hull my Z7 was the best thing since sliced bread and I often tell my fishing buddies that if it were a woman I'd marry it.....LOL. The way Tracker has delt with a warranty issue is incredible Tracker received the replacement paperwork on 10-29-2013 and the scheduled completion date is 12-11-2013. The fit and finish of my Z7 was outstanding the battery compartment was gel coated not like the Nitro's of yesteryear. Without question I would buy another Nitro. Tight Lines Pa Angler

Hooked Hull
I just thought I'd give an update on my replacement Z7. I called my contact at Tracker Marine and I was told scheduled completion date on the Z7 is December 11, 2013 and then it's a matter of shipping to my dealer. Tracker Marine does shutdown over the Christmas holidays and since I won't be fishing up here in PA it really doesn't matter when it gets delivered as long as it's before spring. Mercury V150 Trouble
Isn't 6,000 rpm's is a little high for this motor as the specs state operating range at WOT is 4,500 to 5,500 rpm's. At 5,600 the motor was right around where it shoild be the prop pitch didn't change after the stater change so maybe the timing may be off. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/assets/service/manuals/1/LIT-18626-06-99_1411.pdf

Mercury V150 Trouble
Did you check your hub assembly on the prop as any excessive end play or slippage there will cause loss of mph although a completely blown hub will show and an increase of rpm's and a loss mph. Did they check for full throttle? It could be a throttle cable issue. Tight Lines Pa Angler

Yes, It doesn't make sense to file a lawsuit when Tracker Marine is replacing the boat. The title for my current Z7 was signed and received by Tracker Marine on Tuesday October 29, 2013 I'm just waiting for the production date for my replacement Z7. Tight Lines Pa Angler.

Hull And Outboard Cleaning
There's a product called On - Off mix with water as the directions state. I use a pump garden sprayer otherwise you need platex type gloves spray on let sit as directions state then hose off just that simple. Oh it's for fibergalss not aluminum. Tight Lines Pa Angler

Yes, the Nitro dealer will do the transfer at no cost to me as they were the ones who did the work before I took delivery back in February of 2011 they were items not offered by Nitro so I was given a credit for the stock 24v trolling motor, stock onboard charger and 3 stock batteries. Tracker Marine is going out of it's way to replace a boat that has developed a hooked hull while in use and give me the kind of boat I purchased. Tight Lines Pa Angler

I received a call this morning 10-21-2013 from my Nitro dealer due to some of the options on my Z7 Tracker Marine is going to build a new boat "BUT" I still have to use my current outboard, jackplate, trailer and all the items I supplied. I'll be getting two new consoles, new bow Lowrance HDS-5 with Insight, new console HDS-7 with Insight, new hot foot, new dual livewell oxygenizers, new auto bilge pump, new tilt hydraulic steering, new seats, new keel guard and a new steering wheel trim lever. I supplied the 36v trolling motor, trolling motor quick release bracket, Ram trolling motor stabilizer, four AGM batteries, four bank 60amp charger. Tight Lines Pa Angler

Ranger Aluminum Deep V
It's amazing how Ranger would market the glass boat as the better choice and compare the two on their website with a video but as an old saying goes if you can't beat them join them with Tracker holding a lock on the aluminum boat market it looks like Ranger needed to expand it's line up to stay competitive with more affordable choices. The color is like mine except for the console mine has the Nightfire color according to my dealer this basic color combo is the most popular. Thanks for the pic and info. Pa Angler

OOOPS, I guess I didn't take a close enough as the tunnel I have at the transome is missing but the way mine sits on the bunk it looks a lot like yours. What year was it? Tight Lines Pa Angler

Profile Picture
I had to email the picture to myself (AOL) and do a custom crop there it's good to go now as you can see.

Hooked Hull
This is an excellent illustration of what a hook is and this is what my hull looks like on the bunks front and rear of the hook is sitting on the bunks and the middle off the bunks. Thank You for the illustration. Tight Lines Pa Angler

Hooked Hull
That'a a good pic of Nitro's RPS as you can see the drain plug is centered inline with the rear roller and the bottom were the boat sits on the bunk is stepped so it would be highly unlikely that a Nitro Z7, 8 or 9 won't center it's self. Color of transome area looks like Nightfire my Z7 color combo is PR56A. Thanks for the pic. Pa Angler

Hooked Hull
This all true as I have done some research online however I can rule out rest on the bunks wrong as Tracker builds the trailer to the model the Z7 centers itself as I found through loading it. The sales manager thinks it's due from shrinking fiberglass Tracker wants this boat back fast makes me think that there's an issue with the laying of fiberglass, resin and maybe the mold this started in August of 2012 when I lost 10 mph and continued to get worse now 15 mph to 17 mph loss the manager thinks that the hull is in a constant state of shrinking and will continue to do so. I have had the boat back more than enough times before a hooked hull was looked into. Tight Lines Pa Angler

Hooked Hull
I thought I had engine problems with all the smoking and loss of top end mph I went from 60+ mph to mid 40 mph and the smoking motor was the cause I have been notified by my Nitro dealer that my 2011 Z7 has a hooked hull and the boat is being replaced by Nitro I was also told that Nitro wants my boat back fast as Nitro wants to tear it apart and find what went wrong it's the first one that wound up with a hooked hull sold at my dealer. I didn't know anything about a hooked hull until now I was shown what to look for as I can see a section of the hull not making contact with the bunks all the way across the hull from port to starboard in front of the transom. Has anyone ever had this issue? Tight Lines Pa Angler

Excessive Smoking 150 Pro X/s Optimax
Thanks for the replies, I'm going to drain out the optimax oil but not to far as to have to bleed the air out of the system I'll leave the feed line to the motor covered with oil and I'll see if there's a difference. Tight Lines Pa Angler
