  1. I would probably go with the senko for a few reasons: 1) I don't know what your definition of "warm water" is, but seeing as bass are spawning or close to it mid May, I'm probably fishing the upper lip of the drop for immediate prespawn or spawning bass. 2) slight stain to me means 2+ feet of visibility, so sight fishing is probable. 3) If I'm forced to fish a drop off, and not a spawning flat, the senko is by far going to get bit. 4) senkos catch fish. 5) you didn't give me a crank or jig :-(
  2. I tighten up the line and wiggle the rod tip. It will drag a little, yes. But that's ok. I catch many, many bass dragging a shakeyhead. You picked a good jig head too. For the record, I spool my spinning reel with 10-20lb braid and then tie an 8-12lb fluorocarbon leader (between 4-6ft). It's MUCH more sensitive.
  3. The 2013 TTBC is on YouTube. What about older episodes? Anyone know a source?
  4. Update: Bassmaster has their Seminole Tourny online, and FLW has Okechobee online right now. Enjoy!
  5. For $60, I actually like the way the Tec-Specs feel. At one point, Dicks was offering a deal where if you bought a Skeet rod, you got a free Skeet reel!
  6. For Texas rigging, I like a 4/0 Gammy round bend work hook (straight shank). For wacky rigging, I prefer a 3/0 Gammy finesse wide gap worm hook. It's small profile allows me to use a bigger hook without sacrificing action.
  7. I believe it is 1,000% fair and honest.
  8. It seems like most lunch skirts for sale are thick/bushy. I'd guess 40-60 strand. But when I see a pro post a picture on Facebook of their punch rig, the skirt is always thin: 20-30s strand. I've seen this from Russ lane, Brandon P, and some others. Are thinner pinch skirts better? When is it better to throw a thinner or thicker skirt?
  9. I guess nobody connected the dots: MLF=owned by Boyd Duckett, who also owns Duckett Rods. Most of the Duckett pros fish MLF.
  10. It looks like a first generation STX.
  11. I love the looks of these hooks, but can't find any reviews for them anywhere. I'm more interested in using them for flipping bulky baits. Has anyone used them for that application? Are they strong enough? Sharpness? I read that Savage Gear is looking for reviewers, so maybe I'll step up on this one...
  12. Fletcher shyrock said that today was day one of the first MLF Selects event. Looks like you found out where they are.
  13. I just discovered a nice 3" gash in my Gander Mountain 100mph gore-tex rain gear. I bought it four years ago. It's on the left knee, and goes through the first layer of material. How do I patch it???
  14. See, the problem there is that I'm FISHING at 6am on Sundays. Lol. They'll become available eventually.
  15. Hey all! Lately, I've been killing time on the road (the life of a sales rep) by listening to BassEdge, a bass fishing podast. I discovered them after googling the thread title and coming up with nothing. I was crossing my fingers for a Dave Mercer or Mark Zona podcast, hell, even a Gerald Swindle would do! But, Kurt and Aaron do a great job. It got me wondering; what's your (if you have one) favorite fishing podcast and why?
  16. Indeed a niche bait. I'll hold into mine, I don't dislike them, it's just not what I expected. It does come through grass like a boss though!
  17. Edwin Evers uses the BPS cranking stick and he DOES lose quite a few fish...
  18. My home made 1/4oz bluegill or crappie pattern swim jigs w/ a grub trailer. Bass love 'em!
  19. I have a 6'10" M/F Duckett Ghost and I love it. Now I'm curious about their Ghost Crankbait rods. I'm considering a 7'6" deep crankbait rod. Does anyone own one? What do you think? Thanks!
  20. I was using a Havoc Beat Shad. If I have to slow my retrieve, I will just use Chatterbaits because they stay down on a fast retrieve. Thanks!
  21. I currently own a Lews BB1 in 5.1:1 and it sits on my crankbait rod. It's a great reel, really wings those cranks out there. Before this one, I had a Lews TP in 6.4:1 on there. And I gotta say, I think I caught more fish on the 6.4 than the 5.1. So, whats your preferred ratio for shallow-cranking? Side note: I always hear from Pros that a speedy retrieve is imperitive when cranking at any depth, but those same anglers use 5.somethings to crank with. It just seems counter-intuitive to me. I also like the idea of a 6.4 on my crankbait rod in case I decide to throw a 'trap on it. Good luck ripping a trap with a 5.1......
  22. I bought three rage blades, 1/2oz. I like fishing my bladed swim jigs fast, but these Rage Blades always break the surface or ride just below it on the retrieve. I want it to stay in the middle (2-4ft down). I've tried bending the bill, but its flexible..... Is anyone else having this issue? Whats an angler to do? I want to fishi it quickly, and it will stay down if I slow roll it, but that defeats the purpose. Maybe I'll just stick to my Chatterbaits....
  23. I want to make a chatter bait out of an Owner Mambo jig head. I dont want to use a split ring. Is there a way to bend the eye of the jig out enough to fit a blade on? Heat it up maybe? Thoughts?
  24. When do BASS and FLW out their 2014 Elites/Majors episodes online? They each do it, and since most of us are fishing at 6am on a Saturday/Sunday, I'd still like to watch the tournaments. Someone let me know! Thanks!
