  1. Nope! That rod is specifically designed for big deep crankbaits. I throw River2Sea Goons on it, and they weigg 7/8oz! Yes, it will load on the cast, but that's what it, and every other crankbait rod, is designed to do.
  2. Minimum: 7' mh/MOD or mf Ideal: 7'6"+ MH/MOD a longer rod will launch a big heavy plug like that a lot better than a shorter one. It will also help pick up slack line faster and you'll get a better hookset on a long cast, or when your bait is 15-20' underwater. My personal choice is a Duckett White Ice 7'4" M/MOD. You'll also want to look at your reel and line. A 5.4:1 gear ratio is best for reducing resistance (and keeping fatigue at bay), but I like a 6.4:1 because I get more reaction bites. Keep you line lighter, 10lb-12lb test fluorocarbon will get your bait down and keep it down.
  3. Here is the cure for line dig: make a VERY long cast, peel off an extra 20 yards of line, place a loop of black electrical tape around the spool, reel your line in ON TOP of the tape. Your line can't dig in deeper than the tape (only a few layers). Enjoy.
  4. The boat is $13k and in great shape with low hours. The upgrades are another $6-$7k.
  5. I don't own a home, so the boat would be collateral. And my credit is good. I don't see why the rate is so d**n high! How did you finance your used boat?
  6. I'm looking at a '99 Ranger Comanche . I need to take out enough for the boat and upgrades (electronics, trolling motor, etc). I'm going to take out $20,000 total. My bank offered me 11.25% interest. My local credit union offered 15.07%! I'm comfortable about up to about 7%. I'm not paying that and I don't have the cash, What are my other options? Has anyone financed an older boat for under 5% fixed? How?
  7. Where should I look for the best deal on two humminbird 999's? Ebay isn't bad, Amazon is average. I could buy used on the flea market here, but I'd prefer new. Anyone know of any deals, or perhaps have special pricing available? Please let me know! Thanks!
  8. I have an opportunity to buy my first bass boat, a 2002 Ranger, for a great price. It is a blank canvas, and I want to get two Humminbird 999's, Powerpoles, and possibly a 112lb Fortrex. Want... want.... want.... I'm financing the boat, but my question is: can I also finance all the extras that I want with the same loan? In other words, can I borrow the cost of the boat plus another $8k for the extras?
  9. What do you think about the Zorro/Stan Sloan baits? Are they any good?
  10. Oh man!!!! My home water! I just marshaled the Delaware tourney. I'm soooooooo marshaling this one!
  11. Where did you hear that?
  12. We should do a bass resource get together. Maybe Friday evening?

    Please post a review. Thanks!
  14. I'm a marshal for that event. I will be there every single day!
  15. Big yes!
  16. These were mentioned. The series is called " Terex".
  17. Cabelas has a lure retriever for $23. Best $23 you'll ever spend. Dave Mercer hangs a 1-2oz egg sinker on a paper clip and slides it down the line. That costs about $2. Lol
  18. Thank you all for your advice! I have to dig a little deeper into my research.
  19. Skeet Reese cranks from Lucky are dropping in price to $9.99 from $15.99 Still not cheap, but much better for those that toss them.
  20. Truer words have never been spoken.
  21. I'm shopping for a used bass boat, my first! I've fished in just about all brands and I know what I like, but what I can afford might vary slightly. I'm trying to get a feel for if certain brands run notoriously better or worse thank other brands. I'd love for each responder, in their personal opinion, rank the following brands in order from smoothest ride to roughest ride, keeping in mind that I fish the Chesapeake Bay a lot and it can get a little hairy: Ranger, nitro, skeeter, stratos, pro craft, triton.
  22. Well, I'll be brave and order one. You never know how good something is until you try it. I think they're attractive, and they seem to have some all the standard features of any other high end casting reel. I'll post a review.
  23. Great idea. I want to get three spare spools for my tournament pros. $50 a spool, but 25% off if you spend over $100.
  24. The old FLW Worms sold in the free bags at Walmart about 15 years ago. I loves their 7" curl tail. Also the Bomber Balsa B. One of the toughest square bills to hang up. I have around 20 of them.
