  1. I'm almost willing to bet money it will be won on the Bay. Side note: 1991 BM Vlassic was held on the bay. Find it on YouTube.
  2. Here's a senerio I ponder about..... What if an angler were to run from South from Philly to the C&D Canal, then into the Northern Chesapeake? Its a LONG run..... but it could be worth it. Why? Because the caliber of fish in the Bay is quadruple that of the Delaware. Think of it this way: if you're gonna catch five Delaware bass for 7lbs, you could catch three Bay bass for 9lbs. And the Bay produces some huge limits (18-23lbs). So why not risk it? Problem is the run itself.... 40ish miles from the launch (in an "oxbow" south of the city) plus 15miles of canal at 40mph speed limit, then run to your spot, however far that might be.... Two and a half hours one way??? Five hours gone... three hours to fish. Then there is the tide... If you make it to your honey hole, the tide has to agree with you. Anyone who fishes tides is probably laughing right now. But, if you can sack a 20lbs bag just ONE day, you can just about ZERO another day and still make the cut, if Bobby's predictions are accurate. Its a stradegy, thats for sure........ and it wouldnt shock me to see someone attempt it, and less shocking if they win it on day 2.
  3. I fish in Pa, NJ, MD. Not much shad here, mostly bluegill as forage. I know that they are versitle lures, but I cant seem to catch fish on them. Its a bait that I dont have much confidence in, but I want to have confidence in it. Most of the waters I fish are stained to murky, which as I understand it, is not conducive to swimbaiting. Grass is a staple in my fishing. But at the same time, these baits are supposed to be fished like spinnebaits, which are fished in all clarities. So, I want to know about your most successful techniques, gear, anything relating to fishing paddletail swimbaits. Rod length, action, reel ratio, line? Speed? Modifications? When does it excel? When do you toss something else? Any info is good info. Thanks!
  4. Is Exposed worth the $100/year? I'd like to watch it, but that's a lot of Jing. Anyone have it?
  5. $16 for a season. 7 episodes, well over 2hrs per episode. Well worth the price. I highly suggest it!
  6. I think most would agree there......
  7. Simply not true. You need to understand you're prey. Bass are opportunistic feeders; they'll eat whatever they can. One of my FAVORITE early spring passtimes is to go to a certain local lake, maybe 40 acres, the day after they stock trout for opening day (usually mid March). The lake is, at that time, closed to fishing. However, I like to watch the little "V" shaped wakes on the surface, then see the HUGE wakes come and explode on them. I'll sit there for hours with a thermous of coffee and enjoy the show!
  8. I'm shopping around for some cold weather fishing gear. I have some now, like Under Armour base layer and Linear Gloves, Wool Hat, thick sox. However, my gloves arent waterproof (quite the opposite) and thw wind gets under my raingear. So, what do you all wear during the cold weather? I'm particularly interested to hear about neck gaiters, waterproof gloves (with dexterity), footwear, under layers, etc...
  9. Exactly. You literally get to witness the birth of a pattern. It's like nothing else.
  10. I've had some great days fishing 20 yard by 20 yard open areas. The answer is YES....... what? That's up to you.
  11. Yes, you will catch smaller and bigger fish on it, just not all the time. Its like using any other bait; under certain conditions. Aim for 55-65*F water tems in spring (prespawn) and I personally like cloudy, breezy, rainy days. Big girls just seem to want to eat that day. Good luck!
  12. I posted this in the Tournamen Talk forum, but I wasnt sure if that was were it should go. If I'm violating a rule, please delete this post: Anyway I'm just asking when the new episodes of MLF will become available online??? I LOVE MLF and its definately worth the $16 is costs. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/128604-major-league-fishing-2014/
  13. This sounds like the same principle for the A-rig ban argument....
  14. WHEN will the new season of MLF start??? I'm asking about the Extended Cast online. I highly recommend spending the money and buy the season pass.
  15. Can someone suggest a few sd cards for the gopro hero 3 black????
  16. I fish a 800 acre lake out if an 15' Aluminum boat. I have a cheap lowrance eagle on it now, but it's time for an upgrade. I was looking at a Lowrance elite 5x HDI, devalues I want I see bottom composition and I want the detail of DSI. A friend of mine told me not to bother with DSI, but invest in Side imaging, but I just don't have the money. My question is: do I need sonar and DSI, or will simple DSI work? Does anyone know we're to get a good deal on a 5x HDI unit? What is the picture quality on a 4x unit??? Thanks!
  17. Just asking for reviews...
  18. Sounds like you can't afford a boat... I feel your pain, brother. I pay close to $700/month in student loans (plus rent and ALL of the other bills) and cannot afford payments on a tow vehicle or boat, not to mention the real money pit, maintenance... My goal is to get my payments down to $450/month, then look at an aluminum. Otherwise, I just can't afford one.....
  19. I feel like this thread should be resurrected. Starting today, it will be above freezing by double digets, working it's way up to 67*F on Sunday.... It's fishing time! I'm thinking drop shot, jigging spoon, finesse jig, crank baits....
  20. Cranks themselves are AWESOME!!!! Hooks are very sharp; probably the sharpest factory hook I've seen.
  21. How about the Rapala Floating Minnow? Some might still be kicking around tackleboxes, but I think most have been replaced by other topwaters and/or ripbaits. I remember casting a huge (#13???) Rapala Floating Minnow and twitching it on the surface for mid summer bass. Killer Technique..... I think I need to go shopping now....
  22. Any technique that creates slack in the line, or in which you need to take up slack quickly. I dont like it for "steady retrieve" techniques like cranks, spinnerbaits or buzzbaits (I prefer a 5.4-6.4:1 for those). Examples would be jigs, carolina rigs, worms, frogging, topwaters, jerkbaits, ripbaits, traps (yo-yo), etc.
  23. Looking for testimonials from people who have purchased sunglasses from Duckett. Anyone have any experience?
  24. What I am hearing is that it will be ANOTHER PURE FISHING REHASH REEL made in Korea.. What I'm hearing is the lovechild of a Revo Premier and a Lews Team Pro for $50 less than both of them... Why dont you naysayers relax a little. A lot of great reels are made in Korea, including Abu and Lews. Performance is performance, no matter where its made. If you dont give a product a chance because its not made where you wish it were, thats your problem. You can speculate all you want to, you dont know anything until you fish with one. *drops mic*
