  1. I'd love to own one, but only if I were a pro-staff member
  2. Oooooooo, I forgot that Abu also has a series of cranking rods on the way (Verocity?). They're red.
  3. I live my life drama-free, but when it comes to fishing gear, I love gossip more than a locker room full of teenage girls! Post here about new baits you hear or see in pre-ICAST. I'll go first: -Powell Inferno micro rods (and another high-dollar series) -Storm Arashi Crankbaits -Abu Revo Rocket 9.0:1 -Spro Brozeye Shad -Gammy ss EWG trebles (not the 2x ones out now). -A bunch of baits from Big bite baits -Abu also revamping their round reels for all you old farts Post away!!!! I love fishing gossip!!!
  4. I'm on my mobile phone.... Don't know how to post pics from my device. Sorry!
  5. A while ago, Powell hinted about a new line of rods featuring burnt orange accents. They are called the Powell inferno, featuring PAC Bay semi-micro guides, a full line of sizes/actions similar to the Max series, 36 ton Maxiummfiber graphite. MSRP: $129.99 AAAAANNNNNDDDDD a $30 over the counter warranty! BOOM! Other brands take notice...
  6. Forever. It doesn't go bad.
  7. I.......can't.........wait........ Love all my Powells! Only rod I throw!
  8. I'm excited for the new color patterns. I'd love a transparent bluegill patters, and maybe a silver alewife pattern for these northern lakes.
  9. I have a 7' MEF Powell max that I chuck my topwaters on . It's also a great spinnerbait/Jerkbait, shoot, even a magnum square bill rod!
  10. I can't find many online. Does anyone have experience with them? #1 question: how do they work compared to regular plastics?
  11. GOD I HOPE SO!!!! if thu can deliver a Max-like performance in a $100 stick, I will, LITERALLY, go bonkers!
  12. Much, much, much better with a high speed gear ratio. Seeing as, when you walk the dog, you jerk the slack line, it is optimal to be able to pick up said slack line quickly. Could you use a spinning rod, SURE! But I like to walk the dog fast (I call it the "cha-cha"). I illicit more reaction bites that way.
  13. Whatever... I think its BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!
  14. I have a 7'3" Heavy FAST action Max rod. It's a great light flipping stick. As far as the EF actions go, I've come to realize that fast vs extra fast varies from company to company. Example: I have two Max 7' Medium EXTRA FAST rods that I use or spinnerbaits/swim jigs/chatterbaits because the top third of the rod is very forgiving. These two sticks double as my Jerkbait and topwater rods. I wouldn't hesitate to throw a big square bill or even a deep diver on them. Moral of the story: what is written on paper isn't necessarily what's written in stone.
  15. You need to "like" Powell on facebook if you havent already. They just put up a picture of a new line of rod they will be launching at ICAST! Not many details, except they reference a "Ball of Fire" in the intro. Interesting. They seem to feature a new reel seat. Forgive me, I dont know the specific model..... Anyway, check it out!!!
  16. There are pros and cons to buying any brand rod. Some companies give you a fair product quality and Free/Low cost replacment if broken (Abu Garcia Vertias comes to mind), while others give you a top notch quality product that costs you quite a bit to replace if broken (Powell, $69/rod). So, in your experience, what brand has a great quality and good customer service/ warranty??? I hear Shimano will replace rods for free, but I've also heard horror stories about the newest gen Crucial breaking. What about Duckett? Rods are awesome, what about warranty?
  17. Husky jerk!
  18. Great! Thanks!
  19. Watching some of those shows makes me think I could get my own WFN show. Some of the personalities make me think I could as well...
  20. I am considering building a rod or two, just to try it. I love my powells, but I just want to build ONE! ANyway, I have a few questions: -Any experience with MHX (mud hole) blanks? Any good? -What TOOLS (not rod materials) do I need? -What kind of investment am I looking at here? Let me know. Thanks!
  21. Sounds like you put pressure on the thumb bar. It happens. You need to watch where your thumb is!
  22. I am looking around at reels on BPS's website and I see the JM Carbonlite baitcasting reels. The old Golden ones have a little cult following, but I just have not heard anything about the new ones. The *NEW* ones have been out for a little while, and are matte black with some gold trim. The specs look great on paper: Weighs just 5.9 ounces One-piece machined aircraft-grade frame Duralumin gears and shaft V-grooved, ported, machined Duralumin spool 9 stainless steel, double shielded ball bearings and a powerlock anti reverse bearing Dual Braking System™ Titanium nitride-coated line guide Carbon fiber Recurve handle Drag system with six alternating carbon fiber and stainless washers I'm looking for anyone with experience with the reel. I want a lefty in 6.4:1. Anyone every use it? Looks comprable to my Lews Tournament Pro...
  23. My personal frog rod is a Powell Endurance 714 CEF. Its 7'1" Heavy entra fast action. It has the slightest bit of play in the tip, perfect for frogging. Its also very sensitive (not that that really matters) and is super lightweight (which REALLY matters). They retail for $170, but The Fish Ranger has them for $109, free shipping right now!!!!!!
