How is the Trilean knot of braid?
I would have to say go with the "Palomar." It is definately a strong knot with no slippage...I have pulled up trees (large branches) when using this knot I have to say its one of the easiest knots to tie... 1. Take your line through the eye of the hook, 2. Double back tag line to make a loop 3. Tie overhand knot, don't pull tight just yet 4. The the hook through the loop 5. moisten line and pull 6. Cut tag line Here you can see how they do it, pretty much the same, I just don't double the line first...I feel its easier to the single line through eye and double back. http://www.animatedknots.com/palomar/index.php?LogoImage=LogoGrog.jpg&Website=www.animatedknots.com

Fountainhead 8-30-08
Nice job on the catch . Went out there today with with Wife and youngest and didn't have any luck once again >..I have truly given up on fountainhead. Although the water is shared I have far better luck at Lake Ridge rather than there... plus its cheaper to rent a jon boat and motor especially if you only plan on fishing for 5-6 hours.

Occoquan Reservoir Rantport.
I was out there sunday as well at Lake Ridge. Started about 6:00 a.m and crept back in about 12:30 (Battery being near death). It appears you had better luck than I did. I threw mostly senkos (Watermelon w/red flake). Caught one on that, another 1lb'er on a Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap over by Henderson road (the one to get to fountainhead). Most of my normal spots didn't get much of anything. Glad to hear someone had better luck, than my partner and I. Between the two of us we only boated three all under 2lbs. As for boat courtesy, I didn't have too many problems, I seem to have more issues with kayakers than i do boaters. Just my personal experience, nothing against them, just some of the people in them ;D

New Dicks Sporting Goods Store
Hey no problem...Thanks for the offer for fishing on Monday; however, I am unable to get away. Most of my fishing is done on the weekend. I have read many of the post you put up and blog, I am sure it would be a pleasure for me to fish with you as I have a lot to learn and you seem to be pretty knowledgeable (sp?)

New Dicks Sporting Goods Store
Monday - Friday, I goto to Dicks off of Columbia Pike, since I work in Alexandria, Just like you JCrzy, I am always at Wal-Mart since I am just up the hill (wayside drive). I couldn't see myself driving to Dicks on the weekend with the nasty traffic that can occur on the 95 . FYI, if you are interested in picking up some more GYCB the Dicks that I mentioned just got some more in, I managed to pick up a nice variety Fat Ika's, Senkons (Watermellon/Red Flake). Don't know how long they'll last but I was just there yesterday afternoon. JCrzy congrats on the kid, I have two girls (13 and 11) and all i can say is be glad its a boy. ;D

Fountainhead
Headed out towards the right from the dock Well, as the term "Skunked" has been going around, that is what happened to me yesterday. First cast, I had nice bite, went to set the hook, snag...My buddy throws his line in brings it in a little over pound. He releases cast back out, another bite, its a dink. I finally get my bait back, re-cast snag, first three casts nothing but bad luck, you can only imagine what happens from there...couple of bites no fish. I caught more "Tree fish" as my buddy calls them than anything. I threw senkos, tube, jigs, finesse worms, spinners, crank, nothing all day. My buddy on the other hand, caught 4 bass and 1 crappie. I saw the mentioned bald eagles, that everyone has mentioned, there were two one was in a tree, making its calling sound, you can hear one in the distance replying, it moved closer later and they both were in the neighboring trees. All in all, I was furious that day...My buddy and I were so far out, we had to row the boat back from the point by the red house to the dock...it was a long and frustrating day for me. I probably wont be fishing next weekend, for about the last two or three months, I have fished every weekend. For those that were expecting some good info, SORRY couldn't be of more help, i will try again just don't know when. In regards to Fountainhead as a whole, why the heck do the charge so much and not rent gas motors or at least provide you with two batteries. I have fished at Burke and Lake Ridge and their prices are far cheaper for rentals (Lake ridge is cheaper if fishing for 5 hours). Anyhow, thanks again for all of those that provided info; its well appreciated just not well applied I guess ;D

Anyone up for fishing?
Question regards Quantico fishing, do you need a military I.D in order to fish there. I've been wanting to go there since I live so close, but have yet to find out the information needed to obtain the base fishing permit. Thanks in advance.
