While spinning rods do indeed have the guides on the bottom of the blank, they have much, much larger 1st guides, and gradual smaller guides as they get further away from the reel. This is because the line comes off the spinning reel in big loops instead of a straight line like baitcasters. The line would slap against the small guides on a baitcast rod, greatly reducing casting distance (if it didn't tangle). This why there's a series of large-to-small guides on spinning rods. Oh, and why are the guides on the bottom on spinning rods and on the top for baitcasters? Here's why: Hope that helps!
