  5. For traditional dropshotting, I use 7' Medium-Light, Fast rods. Here's the line, reel, hooks, etc. : http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/how-to-dropshot-fishing.html "Bubba Shot" is a term I use for "dropshot flipping". That requires a different setup: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/advanced-drop-shot.html

  7. EVERYTHING locks on my rig - and is alarmed. I've had too many friends have theft and vandalism issues in places I frequent. I use hex keys in most instances. Those are more difficult to duplicate. And whenever possible, I use the same launches local law enforcement uses to launch their rigs. Even if they're not there, the risk is too high for career criminals, who know which ramps are "safe" for them to prowl.
  8. Both the splitshot rig and the tube bait are terrific for catching finicky bass. Put the two together, and BAM! Here's how to fish it. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/splitshot-mojo-tube.html
  9. Understood. But are these features also available on the Gen 2 units? Sorry, but there's been so many new units + updates in the past few years, it's hard to remember what does what these days.
  10. Ya, the kids are getting a bit testy on this one. Remember kids, it's fishing. It's supposed to be fun. And scene....
  11. So...is this on the HDS Gen2 units?
  12. Here's an article on thermoclines you might find interesting.... http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/thermocline.html
  13. Welcome Home! King Co. is big. Are you north, south, east? For starters, Green Lake actually has a decent largemouth bass population in it, and you can bank fish all the way around it. Sammamish is a great bass lake, but there really aren't any bank fishing opportunities there. Lake Washington is also a terrific fishery. holding both large and smallmouth bass. There are various bank fishing opportunities all around it. However, the arboretum isn't one of them. Yes, there's bank fishing, but the fish simply aren't there. Don't waste your time. Lake Union is another good lake. The better bank fishing opportunities are along the ship canal, near the lake, and also Gasworks Park.
  14. I use Seaguar Tatsu. It doesn't get that memory like other fluoros, which makes a difference when fishing Senkos.
  15. ^^ This ^^ Couldn't have said it better myself. And the notion that pros are getting some sort of super-secret custom versions of the rods/reels seen on the shelves is pure hogwash. Complete fabrication. The equipment the pros get from their sponsors are the same ones consumers can buy. The sponsors insist, for R&D purposes, that they use the same equipment. Do some pros "customize" the gear after-the-fact? Sometimes, but it's not a common practice. Now, are they using protypes and concept gear in some cases? Yes. But not as "privilege" per se, but more from a R&D perspective. The pros work with the manufactures sometimes to provide feedback and ideas for their products. Sometimes those prototypes are mistaken for "custom" gear to the layman. Do the pros use only sponsored gear/baits exclusively? Nope. And this is where the confusion may be. Sometimes you'll see pros using high-end gear and/or custom equipment. But that's outside of their sponsorships. That's most often their personal gear that they bought themselves. Hope that helps!
  16. Who's going fishing this weekend?
  17. Correct, it does not absorb water. I misspoke. Easy to do when there's a camera lens pointing in your face and you're trying to remember all the points you need to make. That said, everything else I said in the video still holds true. Fluoro does indeed sink faster than mono, yet it is more sensitive. I also failed to mention fluoro has greater stretch than mono, and is stiffer and has more memory than mono and superlines, making it the least manageable fishing line. Hindsight is 20/20. It's hard to remember everything and get it all right in one take. After doing these, I really admire the pros on TV who can nail it everytime.
  18. There's more than one way to fish a Senko. Check out these methods! http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/how-to-senkos.html
  19. Yes. You can order directly from their website. They have over 700 blanks, for starters.
