Northstar Jigs
When it comes to Northstar, I wouldn't wait for a sale. Their prices are already so good, there's not much of a discount worth waiting for. Just go for it now.

Siebert Outdoor's Jig's
I have to tell you guys, we designed these jigs because it's our favorite styles/colors...and we USE them! Seriously, I can tell you mine are designed to my specs because it's just killer in my area. I have many different sizes and colors...that I PAID for btw...because they work! And I know the mods did the same thing. These aren't just jigs with our names stamped on them, they're made exactly to our specs. And the cool thing? A portion of each sale goes to Tackle The Storm!

Scam!!!
Please report anything like this to the mods or me. At the very least, we will ban the scammer. We may also be able to trace his account and help the authorities prosecute.

Golf Course Fishing
It appears our friend hasn't been on the site since a few days after his last post. So I guess I can let the cat out of the bag now. Just after his last post, some sleuthing by myself ensued (yes, I'm patting myself on the back here), and I discovered the golf course he was fishing was the McDowell Mountain Golf Club in Scottsdale Arizona. So I gave them a call and gave them a heads up. I also found better pictures of our friend, and forwarded it to them, along with a link to this thread, so they could positively identify him. Suffice to say, they were VERY interested, and appreciative of the heads up. They said they would increase patrols on that particular area of the course, especially after school hours. Our friend, Tyler, logged in a few days later, but didn't post, and hasn't been back since. As it turns out, bragging about illegal activities on the Internet is a pretty dumb thing to do. I presume he got caught, which is why he no longer visits here. Oh...just in case he didn't get caught...I had his mother's phone number handy, and was fully prepared to show her this thread with her son's pictures...bragging about dragging his little brother into his illegal activities. But, I presume the golf course did that already. I also know what high school he attends. It's not something I needed to know, but stumbled across it during our investigation. And no, I will not go into details how we figured it out. It wasn't easy, but Fluke and I have a combined 27 years of experience doing this kind of stuff, so....we'll leave it at that. The point I'm trying to make is this: We take illegal activity VERY seriously at BassResource, and will report and/or cooperate with the authorities in all cases. We will NOT tolerate it. It's clearly explained in our Forum Rules and FAQ's, and it played out here. Glenn

Agm Battery Vs Lead Wet Cell
I'm sorry, what?! You were asked by a moderator not to say anything negative? I have a serious problem with that. That's not how I roll. I have not encouraged nor authorized any moderator to say anything like that to members. In fact, I'm always telling the moderators that we need to be fair and honest when speaking about sponsors' products, the good AND the bad. Otherwise we're doing a disservice to our members. So I'm not pleased at all to hear a moderator said something to you that's completely contrary to my direction. Please PM me about this moderator. If you could, please share the PM with me if you still have it. My sole intent is to coach the moderator so that this does not happen again. Thank you, Glenn

Tackle The Storm Announcement
Very soon, Tackle The Storm Foundation is going to announce a huge undertaking involving possibly 100's of children, young adults, and their families. It will be our largest donation of rods and reels to date and for the last couple weeks I have been scrambling to stock our warehouse in Alabama with as much fishing stuff as we can get our hands on, but we need money to do that...so after dinner tonight Barb walked out the front door to take Riley for a walk, and was shocked to see a very long skinny box leaning up on the porch. The universe works in mysterious ways because inside the box, were one of a kind fishing rods...one of a kind made by Adam Murray and the kind folks at CastAway Graphite Rods. CastAway went out and created a very, VERY limited edition of Tackle The Storm Foundation rods, beautifully done, and then had their four Elite Pros,Marty Robinson, Bill Lowen, Russ Lane and Todd Faircloth autograph a rod each. As soon as I get back from the Elite Tournament in Wisconsin I will put these rods up for auction on Ebay,, and every dime raised will go to buy the things we need to help all the children we have pledged to help. These rods could not have found a better time to be sitting on our front porch...then they did today. CastAway Graphite Rods...you rock guys,

Potholes Resevoir Wa.
I really like the RageTail frog. I rig it with a 1/4oz keel weight, and then "drift" it back to the boat. That is, let it sink under the surface, pull it back up, let it sink, and so forth. The big girls seem to like that. Sometimes a steady retrieve across the surface can illicit monster strikes, but the "injured frog" retrieve seems to work best for me. I really like the Rebel Pop-R for smallies. Cast it out and let the ripples go away before doing anything. Then give it a "blurp", and let it sit again until the ripples subside...all the way back to the boat. Try that for awhile and see if that works. Sometimes they'll just smash it while it's sitting there, other times they want a different presentation, like a quick and steady chug, chug, chug, back to the boat. Sometimes a jerk, jerk, pause...jerk, jerk, pause cadence is what they want. You'll just have to play around a bit until you hone in on what they want that day. As for walleye....the crab creek main channel early in the season rocks. After that, I'm lost. I don't fish for them, so I can't help you there. But I do know they love crankbaits. So don't be surprised if you tie into one while crankin' for bass.

Tim Tebow
Don't know what the pats were thinking. Tebow is a backup QB at best, and not a very good one either. smells like desperation. Good luck with the media circus!

Potholes Resevoir Wa.
the topwater early morning bite should be great by then - buzzbaits and frogs in the dunes, Pop-Rs and Zara-Spooks in Linde Coulee and the face of the dam. In the dunes after the topwater bite slows down, throw spinnerbaits, big plastics (think 6") and jigs. Green pumpkin is a good color. If they don't hit it, switch to Junebug. Those are really the only colors you need in the dunes. For Linde Coulee and the face of the dam - it's crankbait time baby! Pick your favorite and have fun. If there's a lot of algae, use bright colors. If the bite slows down, Yamamoto twin tail grubs in color #176 (cinnamon/brown) color threaded on a football jig, tail dipped in chartruese JJ's magic will work. Splitshot grubs as well as shaky heads work well too, as do green pumpkin tubes. Hope that helps!

Potholes Resevoir Wa.
Will you have access to a bass boat? If not a bass boat, what kind of boat (it's important if you want to go back in the dunes). Or will you be fishing from the bank?

A Sad Day
Very tragic and sad. I've been guilty of both "running scared" at the first sign of bad weather, and staying out there when I shouldn't. This is a good reminder to all of us that it's ok to "run scared". Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

Until I don't have any confidence in that spot. The moment I make a cast and feel I'm wasting my time, I pick up and move.

Affordable Jigs
Seibert or Northstar make incredible baits, and I'm not saying that just because they're sponsors. I was buying their lures before they became sponsors - and still BUY them today. My tacklebox is filled with their jigs. In fact, I thinned out my tackle over the winter and removed all other jigs.
