Tony Bean
Just heard that smallmouth legend Tony Bean passed away today. What a terrible loss. I had the privilege of meeting him once, and I learned a lot from him. A great man who paved the way for others to follow. He will be missed.

Lane Wins Harris Chain Open Bass Fishing Tournament
Chris Lane of Guntersville, Ala., made it look easy on Florida’s Harris Chain of Lakes in the kick-off event of the 2012 Southern Open series bass fishing tournament. As the only angler to weigh in 20 or more pounds of bass each day on the way to his third B.A.S.S. win with a three-day total of 72-11 pounds. Clifford Pirch of Payson, Ariz., finished second with 58-1. View the full article

Spider Jigs
I use Yamamoto twin tail spider jigs in #176 color A LOT. We have sculpins as a primary forage, and this works wonders. Generally I rig them on a 1/4 oz football jig, but will use 1/8oz too. But that's because I'm usually fishing rocky structure.

Keeping Bass Alive During Transport Need Help
One word: floods. Floods move things around, including fish. You may think all is find and dandy in a private pond, and then along comes a flood. Suddenly some of your fish are missing, and new species appear (like pike, gar, carp, etc). Now those contaminated fish you once had, are now contaminating public waters. Just ask any pond owner. Many of them have had that, "Now where did THAT come from?" moment.
