MH xfast or M fast?
Welcome to the world of bass rods. Personally, I would stick with what you have already. You seem to really like it. The sad news is if you bought the Med. Fast you would soon find that it was not really well suited to many applications either. A good rule of thumb is that Med. power is good for treble hooked baits like poppers. and a MH is good for single hook baits like senko's. If you get serious about bass fishing your gonna own a half dozen rods or more pretty quickly, so you may wanna get started on that letter to Santa.

How Would You Handle the Situation?
These days, where having every day be peaceful and pleasant is what matters most............ I would have moved and found bass somewhere else. I had to re-read this a couple of times and say to myself "Is that really you?...Is that really true?? The answer is yes and yes. go figure.

Fishing goals
My only goal besides having a fun and safe outing is to catch a double digit. I know your out there hoggie!!!

where are you catching your fish?
My old reliable spots are paying off on a regular basis. It's so much shallow or deep, it's more that the spots that have been working in the past are producing steadily. It's been so reliable at times that I can go to a lake and fish around a little then say "it's time to get one" and go to a particular spot and bang! fish on. Isn't always like this but right now it's let the good times roll.

Ain't it the truth.

Square Bill Shallow Cranks
the bagley balsa b is an old favorite of mine. Hard to beat for fat wide wobbling cranks.

why knock Eagle Claw?
About the only eagle claw hooks these days are the kahle live bait hooks. Otherwise it's pretty much owner all the way.

Wear your lifejacket
And it should be a quality one. An experienced father and son tournament fishing team both drowned during a tournament on Okeechobee. They both could swim but life jackets were in the boat http://www.palmbeachpost.com/services/content/local_news/epaper/2009/09/06/0906lakedeaths.html?cxtype=ynews_rss

Delaware river for some smallmouth
Great day Mrs. M.!!! I fished that area of the delaware river once. It was in the middle of a dry summer. The river was low so the smallies were stacked in the holes. It was wild fun. Did you cook a shore lunch?

Tiny New Pond, New PB
Nice hog y'got there. Suggestion. When using photobucket there is a way to post the photo directly into the post instead of a link. When you put your cursor over the picture at photobucket the last item on the dropdown says "IMG CODE" copy that then back at bassresource paste it into your post but do not click on the "insert image" icon. The photobucket IMG CODE has all the html needed to post the pic directly into the post. avid.

Thin Air
Great stuff here Mr. Biz. It really takes me back. I tell you some of the best outdoor times I ever had were fishing for native brookies and/or smallmouth bass in the cold mountain streams of upstate NY. The hiking where few ever venture and the shore lunch of fresh caught fish......DANG those are some great memories for me....glad your living large my friend.

Fellsmere Stickmarsh
Outstanding !!! Yeah, Stick marsh has the bigguns but they can be hard to find. I went out 5 times and got skunked each time before hooking up with SteveP and finally getting the fish. Love the pics. You sure look like a happy basser.

Port St. Lucie Lakes and Bass
I've caught a few at the civic center pond on the corner of Airoso and Port St. lucie blvd. It's catch and release only in this small pond but it can be fun to stop and cast a chug bug on the way home.

KVD perfect plastics
I think you'll find alot of people willing to take those brush hogs off your hands. They still catch alot of fish for alot of people.

What baits are catching you fish this year?
I used to experiment alot with new baits but not so much anymore. I truly believe that with LMB finding the fish is the key, what you throw at them is secondary. So I have been sticking with the old reliables that seem to work year after year with an occasional new bait thrown in for diversity. That would be in no particular order ratltrap horney toad senko 7" culprit chug bug rico popper zara spook speed worm king shad RC 1.5

7" Senkos
I've been doing well with big 7" or bigger ribbon tail worms. I tried the big senko's without much noticable difference from the 5"
