  1. Best I can figure is that this has been the coldest winter in at least 30 years. That gave plenty of time for the warmer water fish to migrate farther north than usual. This winter was brutal by Florida standards with temps in my backyard dipping into the 20's. It has been a shock to the recreational fishing fer sure, but I have heard of Tilapia farmers being wiped out. And figgedabout the citrus growers.
  2. Sorry about the small picture size, I don't know why i can't resize it, but you can still see alot of dead and dying tilapia floating on top of this central Florida Lake.
  3. Even in Florida the fishing is slow due to the cold. It's warming up a little now, and I'm hearing about some activity but alot of the usual suspects are still dead.
  4. When you go to the store you often find things on sale that are listed at full price in the catalog. Plus it's just alot of fun to walk around...look at the big fish tank, the mounts on the walls. BPS is the worlds greatest toy store.
  5. Florida, shad, golden shiners, brim I don't believe in matching the hatch for bass. Make a good presentation of a good looking bait and they'll eat it.
  6. Getting my butt outa bed at 4am.

I still use an ole cp swing I have had since...........................??????????????? forever. Still catches em. fersure
  8. I find myself really liking the fact that IGFA ruled it a tie. Now there can be no more trash talk about the weight of the world record being 22/4. The fact that it comes from Japan and not somewhere else surprises me. I had no idea they could grow that big over there.
  9. Porter writes an article like that at the end of every one of his seasons,....then he comes back down and will take yer money with a grin.
  10. Yeah they sure do grow big bass in Stick Marsh....I never caught one over 8 lbs. but have been in the boat several times when when double digits were landed and weighed on certified boga grip scales. Everything is big at stickmarsh....specs, brim, and don't forget the gators and skeeters too!!!
  11. Last night was the coldest it's been in 30 years. Things will start to gradually warm up they say, but it don't look like anything near normal for another week or more.
  12. My best day was fishing stickmarsh/farm 13 with SteveP. we got into one of those legendary day's you usually only hear about from other people. We ended up with a total of 86 bass mostly 2-3 pounders, but with many in the 4 to 6 range and a few sevens to boot. They hit absolutely every lure we had in our tackle boxes. Some worked better than other's but everything caught bass that day. We stopped fishing only because my old shoulder joints started aching. bite was still on and there is no doubt in my mind we could have easily topped 100+ bass. I'll never forget how when we left, Steve put on the graph and drove right over the spot. The graph went crazy...displaying deep water with fish stacked from top to bottom. It's a day I'll never forget.
  13. don't ya love it when a guy calls 3-5 lbers dinks? Looking good bizster!!!!!!
  14. It just seems odd to me how the members of a forum can spend bash bass pro's for being tackle industry pimps one day and then the next bash a highly knowledgeable club guy. It's that ole love hate thing we Americans have with our celebrities.
  15. If I can rip a ratLtrap through the weeds then will always be a go to method. It really triggers some vicious strikes. When it's too thick for that, I screw a bullet weight down to a senko and work it through.
  16. there are times where it seems that all the fish in the lake are huddled into one area less than 50 yards accross. I have had days catching nice sized bass on every cast for hours without ever moving.
  17. this is what it looked like
  18. Ok, here's what happened. I ordered 2 years of bassin' off of ebay two years ago. The vender renewed my subscription this week automatically. I called the credit card company and they said it wasn't fraud, and that I should contact the vender and cancel...He would then send a credit to the account. So I called....got a completely automated service but supposedly the order is cancelled, and they will post a credit.....i'll post again to keep y'all up to date.
  19. A year or so ago, I bought Bassin' magazine from a seller on ebay. It was a really good deal....or so I thought. Now I see an $18 dollar charge on my credit card from TWZ magazine services even though I never re-ordered. Anyone have experience with this?
  20. I have mixed feelings about the recoil guides. I use braid and have broken alot of non recoil guides when it wraps around them. The recoils will give so they don't break. On the down side the braid is pretty noisy as it goes through these guides so that's kind of a pain.
  21. I think seeing a snake curling out of the mouth of a 3 lber is my wierdest view
  22. Hard for me to justify the high prices some companies want for spinnerbaits and other hard metal baits. Yet other people will tell you about pitch, vibration, and other technical items that make it worth it in there eyes. Bottom line....if you catch bass with it it's worth it. If you don't it aint.
