Who's fishing Pink??
Sounds like some physical malady. He pulls out his Pink Wiggle Wart? Never heard it called that before.

3.0 HP Mercury Motor Issues
By purge, I mean to get everything that holds or carries fuel cleaned out. I don't know how the fuel tank is vented. If there is a problem with air getting into the tank as fuel is burned off, it will restrict the flow of gasoline. I have that problem with my riding lawnmower. It has a tiny opening in the center of the gas cap, which is below the seat. Eventually dust clogs the opening, and after running the tractor for a half hour, it will stop running because it isn't getting fuel. Clean out the opening with a fine wire, and voila, problem solved. I doubt it's the plug, but it will only cost a few bucks to find out. The key to me is that it runs longer at slower speeds. That is classic of a reduced fuel supply problem. If it is, you'll experience the following. If, after the motor sits for a few minutes, it will start and run normally, then gradually slow and stop, as the carburetor runs out of gas.

Who's fishing Pink??
I've caught fish on pink, but haven't used one since last year. Worms wacky rigged on the Jackall Wacky Jig Heads have been producing well, especially yesterday. Headed out about ten, and will have to give them a try. Yesterday I tried four distinctly different colors, and they all produced. Anxious to see what the pink does today. Weather conditions about the same, cloudy with light winds. The only difference is light showers for today, none yesterday. I think the showers should make the fishing better. Hope I'm correct.

FINALLY 1st Bass
To say that, you have to be a virgin. As much as I like fishing, even after 44 years of marriage, fishing is a distant second. Best thing about taking the wife night fishing ;D Now, there's a pair that's tough to beat. LOL Or, as my high school buddy's mother used to say about us, "That's a peach of a pair."

How to retrieve a tube
Yesterday, on my first try, on my third cast, I caught my first largemouth on a tube, a three and a half pounder. Now I'm an expert on tubes. ;D ;D ;D The first sentence is true, the second not so true. One thing I did learn, and anyone who is learning the tubes needs to know is this. If you use an internal weight, a contact with a rock will feel like a bite if you are familiar with fishing hard head jigs. The plastic of the tube absorbs the tink or tunk of the weight against a stone, making it feel similar to a bass mouthing a hard head jig. I'm still experimenting with retrieves, trying to get a handle on what works best. Even then, what works best today, might not tomorrow. At the moment, the most important thing I learned is not to expect the tube to feel like a jig, as it makes contact with the bottom. Actually I learned two things. The second is that tubes work. Now, to find out how well they can work.

How do you join the "in crowd?"
Why the concern about belonging to "the in crowd"? How do you know you want to be a part of the "in crowd"? The first rule of life is to be yourself, and be true to yourself. If you fit the mold of those in the in crowd, you'll end up there. If you have to try to fit the mold, you won't.

The Beginings of a Jon Boat Conversion
Have you had the boat on the water, and tried standing in it. If not, do that before you undertake the labor and costs involved in a conversion project. If you cannot stand and fish comfortably, standing on the bottom of the boat, you certainly will not be able to when you raise the level at which you stand. Always keep in mind, what may be comfortable on a calm surface, can be dangerous in sloppy conditions. Any jon boat conversion will raise the center of gravity, making them less stable. Just know before hand that what you have now will be as good as it gets regarding stability and safety, unless you add outriggers, which will get in the way of fishing.

3.0 HP Mercury Motor Issues
Sounds like it could be a fuel supply problem, possibly a clogged filter, or some type of blockage between the tank and the carburetor. Disconnect the fuel line at the carburetor to see if you get a good flow. If it's a drip, drip, drip, you'll need to change the filter or purge the system. Any water or other contamination will settle in the bowl of the carburetor, and cause rust or corrosion problems which can block jets and other passages. Do nothing more than you can do with confidence. Trying to tackle something beyond your abilities will end up costing you more in the long run.

[highlight] Aha! My pet peeve is here. You're all going to be subject to my teenager stereotype rant. Just because someone is X years old doesn't make his actions excusable. Begging is impolite no matter what the age. Spelling is another thing... >. It takes you maybe TWO to THREE extra minutes to make sure your grammar and spelling are good. Now if you don't have a English professors grammar; that's fine. I do think however; you should at least make some semblance of a try for good English. No one is going to take improperly or poorly written posts seriously! You are not txting your friends! If your going to ask for something at least make it readable. (Most (some) of you know I'm fourteen, so this teenagers not be able to write a readable sentence gets me worked up ) I usually avoid critiquing another's spelling or grammar, with one exception. I do it when someone criticizes another's spelling while they have a few mistakes of their own. An, not a should precede English. txting ? Did you mean texting? The your which is highlighted should be you're which is the contraction for you are, not the possesive "your". You are wrong about no one will take it seriously. This is a fishing forum, and while the ability to express yourself well is important, it is not the be all and end all on a fishing forum. I take everyone's posts seriously. Their grammar has nothing to do with it. While they can be cumbersome and difficult to read, the person writing may be the nicest, kindest, most thoughtful and compassionate person in the world. I much prefer a person of integrity who cannot express themselves well to a slick, smooth talking huckster.

Not a bass, but I'm happy with it.
I thought they also went by the name of channel bass. Just checked. They do. It's the state fish of N. Carolina. So, it is indeed a bass. The Red Drum (Sciaenops ocellatus), also known as Channel Bass, Redfish, Spottail Bass or simply Reds, is a game fish that is found in the Atlantic Ocean from Massachusetts to Florida and in the Gulf of Mexico from Florida to Northern Mexico. It is the only species in the genus Sciaenops. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Channel_bass

First tube bass today.
Actually, he had a lot of fun. He was being facetious about it not being much of a challenge. I wish everyone had their honey hole that was just as sweet. I made the mistake of going to South Watuppa yesterday. It's a large pond for this area. Two to three miles wide and five to six miles long. Way too big for a canoe, but I wanted to try some drop shotting along the drop offs to twenty feet. There weren't many boats on the pond, but half of them were operated by thoughtless imbeciles. There are a couple of water ski courses laid out on the pond. One boat and skier were practicing on the course. No problem. Another boat was towing a skier just out for a ride, and a sea doo type of craft pulling another water skier. It was a calm day, the pond is two miles wide, and I was trying to fish the western shore. For whatever reason, they had to pass by within a hundred feet of me. Then there were a couple of larger boats pulling the big float tubes behind. They had to buzz by me too. If I hadn't turned the canoe into their wake, I might have ended up in the drink. I feel for the fishermen who have to put up with that stuff on a regular basis. The clouds were piling up, the sky was getting dark to the northwest, so I quit, and headed back to the dock. If nothing else, it gave me a greater appreciation for my home pond. Oh yeah, to top it off, I did not catch a thing.

Dang!!! Too bad this will be gone. We had a principal in high school who was a very stern, no nonsense, administrator. But, once you got to know him, under that veneer, he was really a softie. The above post made me think of him.

First tube bass today.
Most of the credit must go to the pond. I took a fellow fishing a few weeks ago. He's the step son of the lady that allows me to use her property to access the pond. He doesn't do much fishing. He had what looked like a yard sale, bargain bin rod and reel, so I rigged one of mine with a wacky worm, and let him have at it. He caught about fifteen, with a couple that were in the twos. His comment. This isn't much fun. It's too easy. The pond is incredible for the Northeast. While its bass will never achieve the sizes of the southern or western bass, it consistently produces good sized bass. It's a small pond. One half mile long, a quarter mile wide.

Gonna See What The Rage Is All About!!!
They cast great. I don't know if there is a "wrong way" to fish them. I've had fish take them on the drop, and take them while they are sitting on the bottom. You can buzz 'em, or finesse 'em. Fish 'em on top, along the bottom, and anywhere in between. Steady retrieve, twitch and pause, or bump along the bottom. They have produced fish for me in all of the above ways. No doubt, the bass will prefer one over the others, and maybe prefer that presentation regularly. Give them all a try, or any other way you can think of. The bass will tell you which way is best on a given day.

First tube bass today.
Two firsts in a week. Not bad for an old dog, who supposedly cannot be taught new tricks. Last Thursday, was my first attempt at drop shotting. Caught two smallies over two pounds and a largemouth that topped three. Caught four smaller smallmouths. Nothing to brag about, but exciting to me. Today was tube day. Cloudy, light breeze, temps in the low seventies. An ideal day to try something new. A couple of hours of exploratory fishing with the old standbys, just to make sure they were in a biting mood. Rage Tail craws got torn up. Wacky jig heads with four and five inch *** worms of different colors, all produced, and one of my favorites, the ShakE2 jig head with a Strike King, four inch finesse worm, coppertreuse of course, produced some nice fish. Off to the bottom, I had determined was a good spot for the Strike King Coffee Tube, watermelon/red. Nice rocky bottom. No filamentous algae. Four to five feet deep. And, usually a dependable spot. A couple of casts, just to get the feel of the tube on the bottom produced a couple of hits, but no hooksets, probably because I was concentrating on the feel of the thing on the bottom. It has a mushy feel because the plastic absorbs the impact, being between the lead, and the rock. Actually, contact with a stone produced a feel similar to that of a hard headed jig when a bass hits it. On the third cast, let it sit for a few seconds, then start the slow retrieve. Took up the slack and felt a thump, thump, thump. Set the hook. Fish on! Most of my fishing is done with spinning rods. Have used baitcasters for jigs, and other lures, and caught fish with them. Fifteen pound test braid, with a twenty pound test fluoro leader allowed me to put plenty of pressure on the fish. Too much, for my satisfaction. I had to keep loosening the drag, so it would slip to my preference. All adjustments made on the fly. I know, not the best time to do it. I boated the bass, and it weighed in at just a tick over 3.5 pounds. An auspicious debut, for a new bait. I think I'm going to like the tubes. It was the largest fish of the day to that point. Until I stopped at another of my "hot spots" a rocky point that varies from three to just over five feet in depth and has rocks from cobbles to boulders. Tossed the Wacky Jig Head with a four inch *** Watermelon/Chartreuse laminate trick worm. The spot produced three nice bass, two of which topped four pounds. I cast three very different colors of the *** worms, watermelon/red, bumblebee (black and yellow swirl) and the watermelon/chatreuse laminate. They all produced. A two fer week. It's been a great year for me. Last year, most of my fishing was done with either spinnerbaits or chatterfrogs. I've caught a few on them this year, but their production does not compare with the various plastics I've been using. Maybe in a few weeks. If not, maybe next year. Still managed to finish up in time to get a haircut, and the lawn mowed.

Do pro's pee off the boat?
Rule numero uno: Don't pee into the wind.

A drop shot virgin no more.
Live in Westport, about a half hour from the Cape Cod Canal. Lived on the Cape from '69 to '72, in Eastham. Living there was the pits, especially for a young family. Electricity was outrageously priced. Summertime traffic was horrendous. Everything was overpriced. The closest shopping was the Cape Cod Mall in Hyannis. Ditto for the closest hospital. Spring weather was usually raw and cold. Summers were impossibly crowded. OK for the tourists, but not so nice when you had to deal with the traffic from the Fourth of July to Labor Day. Getting onto route 6 could be a ten minute or longer ordeal. Fall is the best time of the year. The crowds are gone. The ocean and bay waters that chilled the springtime weather, keep the Cape warmer well into the fall.

Do pro's pee off the boat?
I plucked two people from the pond this April when the guy stood and went to the side of a twelve foot aluminum boat to take a whizz. They were lucky. I was on the shore, everything loaded on the carrier and ready to load my truck when I heard a commotion and saw they had capsized. Five minutes later, and I would have been gone.

Do pro's pee off the boat?
So far, only one possibility for the way the question was posed has been discussed. I, on the other hand, was wondering what the pros, or anyone for that matter do to a boat to get it peed off at them? :D :D

Losing Senkos...
Because the hook, in combination with the needle nose pliers makes an opening large enough for the worm to pass through. Pliers alone, and you'd have a bit of a struggle, possibly tearing the worm, since pliers alone do not allow the worm to pass freely through. I've tried the goodys on an o-ring tool and it works, but not as well as the illustration with the pliers and hook. Very difficult to move the doubled up goody band on an o-ring tool.

Organizing Soft baits
I get the larger size plano boxes, 11 X 7.25 X 13.25, some with dividers, some without. On the end, I mark the contents with a Sharpie, then affix a piece of clear packing tape over the contents. Here's how some are marked. *** and Senkos Rage Tail Strike King Elaztech, Perfect Plastic, Flappin Hogs *** Floaters, Finesse, Trailers and Tubes Jigs and Trailers Then in smaller organizers which came with a couple of Bait Box tackle boxes I have hooks, sinkers, jig heads, and other small pieces, each box labeled accordingly. Also a Plano line holder, primarily for the leader materials. Another Rubbermaid container for sunglasses, cell phone, extra batteries for the sounder, and a clip on visor led night light. I never forget my prescription sunglasses. Take of my regular glasses, put them in the case the sunglasses come out of. Name, address and phone number on the inside and outside of the cover. Watertight protection for cell phone. It all goes into a large duffel bag. Take out anything I won't need, and toss the duffel bag into the boat.

do split shots affect your catching?
Do you have a spinning rod? Casting light baits is their forte.

Snakeheads
If they are better than eel or swordfish, I want to try them. Eels and Johnnycakes were a staple in this part of the country for years. 'til the Cormorants homed in on them and decimated their numbers.

Buying an SUV to tow...which one to get
They do make an SUV, which is similar to Expeditions, Trailblazers, etc. They have three models, the LX, GX and RX. Rule out the RX. Nice vehicle but not suitable for the prerequisites listed. The LX would handle them all nicely. Seats eight, 383 horsepower, but new, starts at over seventy grand. Used ?. The GX is a possibility. Seats five to eight, 263 horsepower V8. Starts at about 48,000 new. Used ? They are upscaled Toyotas. The Toys would probably serve as well, and cost less.
