Did you just texas rig it with a pegged weight? What kind of hook?

I was throwing my SM's by some lilly pads today and nothing was biting. So I pulled it up onto a small patch of pads about 5 feet from shore. My daughter was saying how much it looked like a real frog on the pad. So I flip my rod to jump it off the pad and a fat pickeral comes from the shore about 2 feet from where im standing and nailed it. They seem to have a great movement thru the water and can be worked like a frog thru pads. I also got to try my rage shads. I got two hits but didnt hook either.

What is a wake bait?

I have read that if fishing the anacondas top water to set the hook so the tail of the anaconda is down. How do you hook baits to know which side will be up or down (if rigging weightless texas style say)? Should the hook point come out the side or if I want the tail down should the hook point point down like the tail? also, when tieing on an offset hook should does it matter which side of the eye you run the line from?

Im glad you posted this because I would have thought a 5/0 hook was too big since the shads are only 2.5" long. Does everyone prefer to fish the space monkeys as topwater lures? or how do you fish them?

Just got in some anacondas, space monkeys, and shads. Have seen a few comments on the SM's and the annas but not on the shad. Has anybody tried them yet?

Thats what i did. I thru my senko next to him and surprisingly he took it. However, because i was hanging over a railing with bushes on both sides I couldnt set the hook good and he got off.

I walked up on this swamp/pond and there was a LM about 3lb sitting in an opening between the muck about 3 feet from the shore. Do you throw your senko next to him and try to get him to bite it? or do you leave it alone?

I got to try the thru the gills technique with the needle nose last night and it was amazing how easy it was and how much faster I got the fish back in the water.

New guy with a quetion. What is a strip pond?

Which side of the fluke the hook should the hook come out of? either side? or the bottom/back?

What is the difference between the superline EWG worm hook and the regular EWG worm hook? Is the regular just thinner with a smaller barb? What is the offset shank hook?

I picked up some of the 5" flukes. What hook should i use and what is the best way to fish them? I did a search but not much on flukes came up.

What type of rod do you suggest for waitless soft plastics (say a senko). I also say spend a few days using nothing but the senko. If you can use it where there is a current I think it helps to figure out the feel of it before using it in slower water (ponds).

Thanks, RW. Thats what i was looking for. Today my 9yo daughter caught 2 bass around 2lbs (one on a senko and one on a shiner) and one had a hook and some line stuck in its gullet from a previous catch. And yes...... she out-fished me.

When you catch a LM and it swallows the hook, to the point where the fish starts bleeding when you try to remove it, does the fish have a better chance of surviving if you just cut the line and leave the hook? or should you always remove the hook? I hate it when a fish ends up dieing from the trauma of removing a hook.

What is the average wait time for pre orders?

Mudkart, I hear ya, My 9yo daughter caught her first LM with a 4" texas rig senko today. She had caught one before but on a shiner. Back to topic: I would think size matters to an extent but I caught a tiny bass on a 4" senko, so a 2-3lb LM should have no problem swallowing a 5 or 6" senko.

Is it one to a package for the 5.39? If not, how many are in a pack? I dont know how many packs to order.

I just started fishing again after a 20 year lay off. I decided to order some senkos and tried them yesterday. I caught 3 LM in 25 minutes; all under 1.5lbs but considering I was just learning how to fish them and it is a small overfished area where a pond drops off a waterfall to a small river thats not too bad. Cant wait to try them at a real pond next weekend.
