What to do?
I caught this fish the other day, it had line coming out the hole on its belly. I pulled the as much of the string out as i could until it wouldnt come anymore and then i cut it close to the hole leaving about .5" outside the fish. I didnt want to keep pulling and injure the fishes insides but didnt want to leave it out and have the fish get tangled on something. Was this the right thing to do? the reason i left a little out was in the hopes it would help the fish pass it if he could. heres a pic:

New PB
Caught my new best today. Was about 19-20" but I dont have a scale. Casting a senko under a waterfall. Yes, he was released to fight another day. He had another hook and line in his mouth which i removed; also had a shiner halfway down his throat.

Help picking new rod/reel for daughter
Teaching her to use soft plastics she will have alot of fun. My daughter loves to fish weightless texas rigged senkos. It's hard for me to get her to fish anything else. This year I am gonna try and get her to fish with some swim baits, I got her a sebile magic swimmer for x-mas. Just be careful, since I taught my daughter to fish the senko she out-fishes me on occasion.

I think I'm a bad influence...
When I was a kid they would erase your detention if you got suspended. So in my infinite wisdom as a teenager, when I gathered up around 60 nights detention I would try to get suspended so that I could get all my detention erased. It always turned out to be a waste of time because my first day back I would have detention again.

Dog Question
I would say as long as it is still drinking and not getting dehydrated I would give it a few days. Because it is so small if it isnt drinking I wouldnt wait too long.

Where have you been finding Bass at your New England Ponds?
I was having no luck until a week ago. The 3 weeks before that were horrible. It still hasnt been great but this week I caught 4 bass (2 in the 1.5 to 2.5lb range) and a very large pickerel all on tubes except one, that one was on an ika.

Cleaning Reels
I am going to clean a reel for my first time this week. I bought the penn oil and grease (it is a penn reel). Since Penn is most popular for their salt water reels I figured their oil and grease is made to hold up under salt water conditions. But i could be completely wrong. Hopefullt someone will LMK if i am.

One piece vs multi-piece
With the one piece it would have to go in the bed of my truck; with the 2 piece I could put it in the cab. I was looking at the avids too, but I didnt notice that much of a difference compared to the difference in cost (altho I was just going by feel and havent fished them). Maybe the avid will go on sale before christmas and then I will definately move up and grab it.

One piece vs multi-piece
I have decided to take the advice of alot of guys here and build a few quality rods. I am going to start with a spinning set up that will be used for worms and other plastics but will be a decent all around rod. I am planning to buy a 7' St Croix Premier Medium Power Fast action and pair it with either a stradic or a symetre. I am not sure if I should get a one piece or a two piece. Is there a loss in sensitivity with two piece rods? What do you think of this combo? Jim

Need help with line size
The citica says C1-200 Bantam and the curado says CU-200 Bantam. Is that the model?

Need help with line size
I got some reels used a little while ago and there was no paperwork with them so Im not sure what the best size line to use is. I want to make sure they are on the right rod and have the right size line. One is a curado 200 and the other is a citica 200. What size line should I use? i also have a Penn spinning reel I need to re-string. The spool has a little hole in it and under/inside the spool there is a screw holing in a little fork type thing. Am I suppose to run the line thru the hole and tie it to the fork thing?

How do you set drag
Thanks Everyone. I will use RW's method in the future. Is a little more accurate than what I have been doing.

opinion for 9 yo
A leash is a good idea. especially since she will be holding the rod in a completely different way and since it is weighted on top instead of the bottom. I would really appreciate the info on how to do it.
