Polar bear coolers are all the rage in my area. Www.polarbearcoolers.com
  2. Yup. I have two as well. Just get some fish grips, and you're golden.
  3. Durability and buoyancy yes. Mostly though, any lure like this gets HAMMERED by baitfish in the salt. Pinfish and croakers will have this thing in shreds in two casts. The elaztech stuff takes a lickin and keeps on tickin. Also. ... trout and mackerel have big razor sharp teeth. It'd be nice to catch more than one fish per lure.
  4. A jay, I apologize for stating something that rubbed you the wrong way. ..and I'm not sure you took it the way I intended it. But my point was, its a competition with alot of money at stake. If something was unfair or cheating, the other competitors would blow the whistle long before we heard about it. But they haven't. So this leads me to believe that they're either ALL DOING IT in some capacity or another- or they DONT CARE that someone else is doing it because they don't feel its a major advantage. Probably a combination of both. So if THEY aren't worried about. ... I don't see why we should be.
  5. ^^^ agreed completely. Its a bad bad day if you see me throwing live bait- espicially shrimp. Its not much better if I'm using gulp. I will keep the occasional red or trout for dinner. But its normally just one midslot and then the rest go about their business.
  6. ^ this. My all time favorite is the bone/silver color one knocker. Let me see if I can find a link. ... http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0260/2835/products/DSC_6970_1024x1024.jpg?v=1400718929
  7. I heard tell of some people getting into some big ones this past weekend. .... but I had totally forgot about this thread. Two fish over 7. About 20 bass total. Sounds like your tourney was a grind! Wow!
  8. Ike was also throwing a jig a whole lot. Man. .... Rojas came out of nowhere at the end of the day. He's on to something. I guess we will see tomorrow huh? !
  9. As a kayak fisherman, I'm extremely interested in this. Please review! Edit: whoa! Expensive.
  10. I agree with this 100%.
  11. 7' or so mh/f. Truthfully, a 7'6" mh/f would be even better. Brand is your choice- you're not getting junk at the $200 mark. They're all good sticks.
  12. Wow! Awesome! Now. ... if only it was elaztech so I could RULE ALL OF COASTAL FLORIDA! Lol.
  13. Guys, we are totally overthinking this. With the kind of money that is on the line here- the OTHER COMPETITORS would have called foul on this long before we even heard about it. This means- A ) they're all doing it B ) they dont care.
  14. Yeah...I'm gonna have to say 61.8 I think the bite is going to heat up.
  15. I watched the last hour or so on my phone and it all worked perfectly. I really enjoyed it. ... and hope there's even MORE fishing and less analysis tomorrow!
  16. Thank you for the review. I'm thinking of buying three mh/f sellus rods for my inshore kayak adventures. Its hard to find any real world experience about these rods. So your recommendations are useful. Having handled them extensively in the store, I have to admit they feel pretty nice for the price point. Its hard though to pull the trigger on these when there is such amazing competition at that price point nowadays! H2o, field and stream, pinnacle, etc. Thanks!
  17. I think your set up is just fine and will be pretty nice to fish with its relative light weight. Stick with the 50# PP until you find it inadequate. I also use 65# but there's no sense spending money if you don't have to. Tie a good strong Snell knot and check your line often- you will have few if any breakoffs.
  18. Congrats on your new rig! Hey, go outside, walk out the amount of line in an average cast- say 20yds or so- and take a piece of Scotch tape and place it across your spool. Now when you cast, a backlash will only go as deep as the tape- and not be an issue. Good luck!
  19. While I am not in/from/near that area. .. never underestimate how badly redfish want to kill Zara spooks. All day long. ... all year long. Good luck!
  20. I have stood and fished a short while in the big rig. Its really nice as a fishing platform, awesome seat. Lots of space. Its just too wide/slow for me and the fishing I do. Plus its big and heavy. I need to split the difference with a fast boat I can stand in- that's why I want the native slayer 14. I have absolutely ZERO interest in a motorized kayak. It defeats the entire purpose/premise of kayak fishing- simplicity. If I have to worry about maintenance and repairs and registering and what have you. ... ill buy a used bass boat.
  21. Right now online at dicks sporting goods, you get a free pinnacle 7mh/f rod with any reel purchase over 49.99. You can not beat this deal with a stick. Get a daiwa lexa or any reel mentioned above, and you will get the all purpose rod you need for free. Do it. Then come back and post the obligatory " what's the best line for my new reel" thread so everyone can yell at each other.
  22. Well. .. your needs and price have completely changed. Lol. What it boils down to is this, wider =more stable but slower. Slower just means it is harder to go for distance. ...not that it can't. A native slayer 14 is the perfect blend of stability and speed IMHO. Its the next yak I want for sure. Ymmv
  23. Wtg man! Nice catching!
  24. Wtg! Nice fish! My pb that I can verify was 8.56# caught on a Carolina rigged trick worm. I caught one bigger than that when I was a teenager, but never got a pic or put it on a scale. I released her quickly after gloating to my brother next to me. Lol.
  25. Man I like that elec/chicken color. .... I'd love to throw one of those at some speckled trout!
