  1. Great bags thanks guys, and yes I am using zip lock bags right now, was hoping to upgrade to something a little.... well nicer, these bags may actually fit in my storage unit perfectly
  2. I have a 14' Jon boat, it has a 3 bench seats that are as wide as the boat, the bench in the middle has two lids that open away from each other it's not very deep maybe about 12 inches, and it has two plugs on either side I guess it was supposed to be a live well not sure. I have all my accessories in it life jackets, lights, buoy markers etc... but it's not water proof at all. I was hoping someone would have an idea of how I could possibly make it water tight or at least close to water tight, I have looked everywhere for a plastic storage unit that will fit down in it but can't seem to find one any help would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance

  4. Hey guys, I have recently purchased a Magellan Triton 400 and the software for the southeastern lakes for $100.00 I have recently seen Hotmaps for the same lakes much cheaper, does anyone know if this software is compatible with my Magellan? Thanks for the info.
  5. Or you can do it the redneck way like I did, went to Walmart and bought a shower radio. Larry Munson never sounded better on those early morning saturday game days, payed $9.99.
  6. Very nice mod, looks great! Do you have any problems seeing the depth finder screen? was just curious.
  7. Thanks guys, what a pain in the %$*^# I will never buy another boat without having some paper work. Unfortunately I payed much more than $150.00 so I guess I will call and plead my case.
  8. I bought a jon boat about a year ago and the guy I bought it from did not have it registered so he did not have a card for the boat, the boat is a late 1970's model and I have no idea when it was last registered. DNR wants a notarized proof of purchase which I have but there is no way I will be able to track the person down that might have a registration card. Is there any way around this? Will a proof of purchase be enough to get my sticker? I mean certainly I am not the only one that has run into this problem before (or am I). Any help would be great, I follow the Georgia State rules.
  9. Hey dadto4 I have a boat similar to that but mines 14' and the bench in the middle is actually a huge livewell, when you post pics will you put some detailed ones of how you deck it? I want to deck the front of mine but not sure how to get started. Thanks
  10. I hear you buddy, my parents were divorced when I was 4 years old, my dad met who is now my step mom, we moved to Pensacola Fl, I miss seeing my mom but I feel very fortunate that I wasn't raised in Oregon. There's just not much to do or sustain a life. Your right it is very beautiful unlike any other place in this country, and I love to visit, but that's about it. My step dad was a commercial fisherman out of Winchester Bay a long time ago, but I hear that has also gone down the tubes. I am trying to get my mom to move closer to here but she just can't seem to leave. My grandpa and my dad both worked at the paper mill until it closed down a long time ago, that place is pretty much a ghost town now. I haven't been back in a long time, but I would love to go someday and do some fishing.
  11. Holly crap Basschump my mom lives in Florence Oregon, I was born in Reedsport what a very very small town and small world.
  12. Hey Daniel I saw this mount at BPS and almost bought it, but I was told the mount has to mount through the handle in the front of the boat. I have my nav lights on the front of the boat right in the center above the handle so I didn't think it would work. I notice that you have yours hanging to the side of the center. How does the mount stay stable on the boat? Is it bolted into the boat somehow? Also how long is the shaft on your TM? I have a 14 foot flat bottom Jon, I'm not sure of the shaft length am worried it wont be long enough.
  13. I have a 14'36" jon boat and I go about 290lbs, I have a 20HP Merc and a 30 thrust TM, both in the back, I have never had any problems with mine and because my TM is in the back (for now) I walk all over the boat and it holds me pretty good. My dad was in town over the holidays and he is about the same weight and we didn't have any problems either, I bought the whole set up from craigs list for $1200.
  14. We are looking for a couple of boaters to join the club. We fish West Point Lake, Lake Sinclair, Lake Oconee, Lake Tobesofkee, Lake Hartwell etc... A great Bass Club with some great guys.
  15. Minnkota! I have a 30 thrust on my 14' Jon and have never had any problems with it, I am going to have to buy a prop for it cause I have worn the old one out, but the motor is still working like the first day I bought it.
  16. My family and I are thinking of going to Lake Talquin this spring, is there anywhere to stay that can accommodate like 18 people? I saw the lodge there but there is only 4 rooms and they look kinda small, and how about renting a boat to fish out of? Don't know how well you know the area, any help would be great.
  17. So I have a delima, I am in Macon Ga, I have a brother in Pensacola Fl, and two in Milton Fl, my dad is in Jay Fl. We are looking for a good place to go for a long weekend and do some fishing, trying to split the time between us so that we don't have to travel to far. Also looking for a place that may have some kind of lodging (cabins would be great). Looking to go in the spring March/April. Anyone have any ideas?
  18. I haven't ever fished Blackshear but I have seen some pictures of people that have, and they are pulling some monster catfish out of there.
  19. AWESOME, thanks so much Catt, I see you have the plastic ratchets in the inside, changing mine now. Pictures are so helpful.
  20. Well I don't understand, I did it exactly like the directions say, and there's no way of tightening down the transducer the way it is set up, even the picture in the book shows it the same way I have it. I guess I will have to put both rubber washers on either side of the transducer in order to tighten it down.
  21. Thanks for the info guys, I actually kept it the way it was and took it to the lake today it did great, when the boat is out of the water the transducer points straight down, when you put it in the water and start to move forward the propulsion moves the transducer horizontal to the hull. Then when you slow or stop the transducer slowly drops back down and points right underneath the boat. Perfect, plus if you strike something under the boat it snaps the transducer forward so it doesn't break off.
  22. Hey Catt Even if I tighten the bolt as tight as I can the transducer is not effected between the two brackets there is nothing but a bolt and the transducer the washers are on the outside of the bolt. So tightening down the nut only tightens the washers to the bracket. I will try to post a picture.
  23. Hey everyone I have recently bought a Eagle Cuda 168 FF and mounted it on my 14 foot flat bottom jon boat. I did exactly what the directions said (transducer on low end of the hull) I screwed the bracket in and covered the screws with JB Weld (looks pretty good). The mount came with a bolt, 2 flat metal washers, 2 rubber washers, 2 ratchet washers and a lock nut, so the ratchets have letters on the A, B, C, D and you are supposed to line the letter A with the dot on the bracket (I did that) next I put the metal washer on the bolt first threaded the bolt through the bracket, put both rubber washers and metal washers on the left side of the bolt and put the locking nut on last, the directions say to snug the nut close to the metal washer and give it 1/4 turn, I did that. So the transducer is mounted, but I noticed the directions said that the transducer should be loose in case it strikes something under water it wont break off. This I understand, but the transducer can go up and down all most completely vertical, is this how it is supposed to be or did I get the hardware put on wrong? Ant help would be much appreciated.
