2nd spawn
I think bass here in Texas probably do spawn more than once a year. I know when I used to fish for catfish you would find eggs in them just about anytime of year.

What goes in your fishing log?
I have kept a log of all my fishing trips for the last 15 years. I just write it down. Time, place, wind, water temp, water clarity, baits, fish caught, I like the idea of a recorder though,I may staret doing that.

I am sick to my stomach....and an idiot!!!
Like Forest Gump said "stuff happens". I've done that more than once.

I don't get it?
In the fall basas will follow the baitfish to the back of creeks and coves. They should be feeding heavily in preperation for winter. They can be caught on plastics but fast moving baits like crankbaits, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits are often a better choice. Concentrate on 1 to 10 ft. and cover water untill you find fish. Be on the lookout for shad or bass breaking the surface. When you find a concetration of fish then you can slow down and catch them on plastics and jigs.

Sexy Shad Crank Tied Up In Tree
For a few hundred dollars you could buy a trained monkey

norman deep baby N
Normans are one of my favorite crankbaits, I especially like the Deep Little N in Tennessee Shad. If I throw a deep crankbait, which I hate to do, it will be a DD22.

Gulp alive
I have used the Gulp turtleback worm for several years. I have had good luck with them but they are expensive, over $5.00 a pack. they don't last very long either, you are lucky to get over one fish per worm.

Lead vs Tungsten?
Tungsten is much more sensitive The small size makes for a more natural presentation. I think I get better hooksets because there is no large sinker in the way. They are more expensive, but if you will look at some of the smaller tungsten manufactures you can get some real deals. I have used them for several years and would never go back.

Any reason this wouldnt work?
A small plastic cable tie works very well for holding tails or skirts on. You can also use a fluke for the body.

Largemouth are the best fighters!!!!!!
It seems to me there is a lot of difference in the individual fish. Sometimes you can catch a 3lb smallmouth and they will just about break your arm, sometimes just another fish. The same way with largemouth, maybe its the water temp., or the time of year.Maybe just the way they feel that day.

frustrated
Schooling bass can be a b****h. Sometimes they will hit just about anything you throw and sometimes they wont bite at all. One thing I have found is they can be very size specific. If they are feeding on 1in shad they wont hit a 2in bait. You just have to keep changeing untill you hit the right combination.

Patience vs Confidence
I voted for confidence because them fish can read my mind and if I don't think I'll catch them I wont. :exclamation

Why 10 - 2?
I had never heard of the 10-2 rule. I allways heard the hour before and the hour after sunrise and sunset. Thats pretty much been my experience.

How have you progressed this year?
I have a extremely hard time comprehending that....I'm lucky to catch 2-3 a day from shore.I guess my lake truly does suck. Evidently there are a lot of lakes that suck
-
How have you progressed this year?
I don't feel like I HAVE progressed this year. Because of health and finincial problems I have only got to fish 1 or2 times a month and that is either in club or jackpot tournaments. Although I finished 3rd in my club I havent really had a chance to learn anything new because I don't feel like a tournament is the time to try something new.

braid or fluro for cranks???
Actually I use !2lb big game but--I think floro would have the advantage in most cases because it has some stretch. With braid I would worry about jerking the lure away from the fish before he has time to take it in compleately. Also ripping hooks out of their mouth due to no stretch. The exception would be in grass because the same no stretch would let you rip it free from the grass easier.

who else is excited for fall fishing!?!
Fall is my favorite time to fish. Cooler weather, no water skiers, no jet skis-and the fish are biting.
