  1. The only spots I have never shared are toothy critter spots. LOL! Nice fish Bill! Now that I'm back in Washington county, I need to "re-learn" where to go up here.
  2. I do remember the site and Tom was on here briefly too. Never had the opportunity to meet him but heard he was a good guy. Moment taken for Tom and his family.
  3. Bill, if the levels are hitting those numbers, the warm water discharge would be a bust from my experience. The canal there may be an option. I may be getting out this weekend too, just not sure where
  4. Haha! I just told my brother that today. Too funny. I'm kinda surprised the river isn't higher than it is right now. I was expecting to see it well over 10'.
  5. 1 ski a LONG time ago (didn't land it either) and an occasional walleye. And thanks!
  6. When they are pumping warn water, the river level needs to be high enough so the cold river water mixes (right up at the upper end) in to boost the O2 levels are high enough to hold bass. For me, I track the Hancock river gauge and like to see it in the 4-6' range for my successful outings. Now that my future fishing partner was born last night, I will be able to get a few outings in.
  7. Just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! May your stocking be stuffed with all your favorite baits!
  8. While the canal at Dickerson can be slow this time of year, it has yielded a few to me as well as a decent one here and there. Took a couple rods for a walk along the Potomac this morning. Managed a bump working a jerkbait on a pull pause retrieve and that was it. Spent some time trying to get the feel of the float 'n fly. Was just nice to get out again!
  9. Bummer, I know it used to have some decent bass in there. The only other place I could think to suggest is Pinchot Lake at Gifford Pinchot State Park. That one is electric only though. If something else comes to mind, I'll let you know.
  10. Hey Allen, what about Marburg over in Hanover? It does have a small outboard restriction on it though.
  11. Managed a short outing this morning. Hit the pond in Sharpsburg. Landed a dink on a t-rigged stick bait.
  12. Bill, I fished the pond over by friscos earlier in the year and was checked by DNR for my license.. The guy that checked me actually mentioned putting a kayak on there and I have seen someone on there in a kayak as well. So you'd be safe putting in there. Got out myself over the weekend. Hit the pond in Middletown. Managed one in the short outing, just a cookie cutter size.
  13. There are smallies in the Hamburg pond? I've managed a few small largemouth out of there but nothing else. With all the brush around the pond, there's not many standing options there either.
  14. Got in a short outing this morning (you know, before the rain hit???). LOL! Managed to land one and lose one at Middletown before it was time to go. Guess that pond still has the potential for a few decent fish. The one I caught went 2-1 on the scale. Kinda surprised me, its been a while since I've caught anything of any size from there. My PB for that place was caught like 5 years ago, and she only went 4-8. Has anyone caught anything decent or heard of anyone catching any decent ones out of there lately?
  15. Its been 4 times Allen. LOL! Now that the whole house hunting, buying, and move is over I'm hoping to start getting out a little more again. Don't have the luxury of being 10 minutes from black hills anymore but might have a spot or two I can hit now and again. :-)
  16. Bummer Bill. Makes sense, I'd be the same way in your shoes. If I ever get access to BIG water on a regular basis, I'd take the course as well. On a side note, got out this morning for a little while before I picked up my daughter for the weekend. Finally managed to get the monkey off my back! Landed small smallie on a tiny torpedo. Which is surprisingly, the first smallies that I can ever remember that I've caught on that bait. LOL
  17. Bill, I've been stopped once on the Potomac and was not asked to show the boaters license. Not sure if my age is a factor or not. DNR's site states, anyone born before July 1, 1972 is not required to have the boaters license.
  18. When I wacky rig senko style baits, I use a wide gap finesse gammy. How I "set" the hook fishing these is just reel up any slack and move the rod in thr opposite direction the fish is swimming. Basically just letting the fish hook itself. With that said, anyone want to teach me to fish again ? LOL! Got out this morning for the first time in like 2 months. Wanted to do a little frog fishing so hit the beaver pond over by big pool, got blanked but did manage to tune in the new reel finally.
  19. Been there, done that Bill! That sucks!
  20. Welcome to THE boards!
  21. Welcome to THE boards Trout!
  22. Do a search on the Jim's rig, there's quite a few the ads on it.
  23. http://waterdata.usgs.gov/usa/nwis/uv?01613000 Hopefully this works. Its the usgs site. It seems to track the levels of the areas in Washington county that I fish closer than Williamsport and Point of Rocks.
  24. Just checked the Hancock gauge and looks like the Potomac is on the fall.
