  1. Anybody made the plunge and bought a Hummingbird Side Imaging Unit?? Just curious, I heard when they came out the picture wasn't all it was cracked up to be, but all you hear now from the pros, is how great they are. Wondering what the true story is.
  2. Esox Carbon fiber. They're the bomb.
  3. Not sure about the GLOCK hooks. But the EWG is 'Extra Wide Gap' and, as the name implies, are usually larger than your typical hook of the same size.
  4. I'm questioning this because someone posted something about not using a certain product because Roland Martin uses it. Does anyone else do this?? I was reluctant to use YUM products for years because of Bill Dance. I tried YUM because of the Papi----Now, I use almost all of there styles of plastics and have a ton of confidence in there product. Just curious how much this determines what you use or don't.
  5. You da man!! I have a tackle box full of those and when I take them out people are always surprised that I still use those. I don't use them exclusively, but when they're on a fluke bite and it winds down, I'm able to scratch a few more out with the sluggy! I use the YUM houdini shad when I 'fluke it up'.
  6. Fortunately, I'm not confined to the shore, but the same thing happens in the boat. I try to stay well away from people and I would NEVER go into a small area and try to bully somebody out of a spot. However, over the years I've noticed that it seems I'm the only that abides by this courtesy! I would say boaters are even more rude and inconsiderate, seeing as though they have the entire lake to fish and seem to end up a few yards from me. If I can read the namebrand of your boat or see your registration numbers, then you are too close >!!! I can't tell you how many times people have gotten within a long cast of where I've been catchin' 'em.
  7. I've never heard of using the Engine Enamel paint. I've used ModPodge on all of my molds and it works great. After a lot of use, I do go back and reapply, just so my baits do stick. I really don't see how the sealer on the mold would have anything to do with getting a nice sheen on your baits. The baits out of an aluminum mold don't look any different than the ones out of a POP mols. I use a combo of worm oil and scented oils to get the shine and slickness. I put the oils in a bag and coat the baits with it. Then I put a little extra in the actual bag I use to put the finished baits in.
  8. That's a blast from the past!!! They do work, I've actually caught some nice bass on those. They worked great for getting under the docks. You can also annoy the 'you know what' out of bedding fish too, because you can jig them and they drop right back into their nose! I wouldn't really compare these to the Helicopter, the Flying lures are basically tubes that go backwards because of the jig head. Tubes still work, so these should too. The Helicopter was just plain garbage.
  9. The best thing about that show: Pagma!!! She is smokin'
  10. Not to be mean, but ZIP IT!!
  11. I was using the same braid (Suffix 10/2), until I had a ton of breakoffs between the leader and the braid main line then I went to straight flouro. I was using a blood-knot, which I think was causing the braid to cut thru my leader. I'm going to try that albright knot and see if that solves my problem. Other than that, my set-up was pretty much like yours.
  12. Does anyone highly dislike Charlie Ingram's Fishing University show?? I'm not saying anything about Mr. Igram personally, but his show is very DULL and I seldom get anything new out of it. He seems to do shows solely for the purpose of promoting some product. And....he doesn't appear to be the most technically sound fisherman either! Just wondering what you guys thought? Maybe I'm missing something.
  13. I've been an Eagles fan since the Jaworski years. Sunday was nothing new, they are always so close, but never get over the hump. Being from Syracuse, I remember how great he was with our Orangemen and he is still great with Philly. However, I do think it's better for his career to get out of Philly and go somewhere where he will be appreciated. He is a class act and can help bring a team to the top (i.e. Vikings, Bears, Buccaneers.) Not sure where the author of the post above was coming from where he says he taunts and trash talks. The phone thing was dumb and he admitted that, first thing in his press conference! But, with all the TO and Rush Limbaugh crap, he never once talked smack about either. And I don't know of him ever talking smack about anyone and I don't think you should question his Christianity.
  14. I use 3/0 Gammy EWG's.
  15. RIZMAN hit it right on the head. I would like to re-iterate--DON'T BE LATE & MEET THE BOATER WHERE YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO!!!! I have had a few tournaments where I was sitting where the co-angler and I decided upon--only to realize that he was waiting for me somewhere else. I am the type that is VERY prompt if not 20 minutes early to the ramp. I like to have my boat ready and get it into the water. Then I relax and get my fishing tackle ready once I'm in the water. It is very annoying when a Co gets in the way of my routine or makes ME have to hurry to get the boat in and get checked by the tourney officials. Also, let the boater know at the meeting the night before whether or not you can back the boat in. This way they can make arrangements with someone else to get it in for them. Also, if you aren't very good at backing a boat in, DON'T DO IT!!! It's very dark in the morning and if you're inexperienced you could do some serious damage.
  16. Anyone use these yet? Any opinions? Can't decide if I want to get a few of these.
  17. Bandit FlatMaxx.
  18. I wasn't concerning myself with you all were spending your money. I was wondering why I do, and was looking for answers!! ;D
  19. I saw that BASS has moved some monies out of the AOY payout and increased the entry fees. It made the payout more inline with last years and they are now paying $10,000 down to 50th place just like last year too. And...Optima batteries is now their main sponsor.
  20. Get an F-650 like Skeet Reese!!! If you haven't seen it, check out his website.
  21. One thing about living in the Northeast during winter is that you have way too much time to think about things. For instance, we use things like a brush hog or a Berkley Beast, which "represent" something, but really doesn't look like anything. These lures are fished SLOW, which gives the bass a lot of time to inspect our lures and decide if they want it or not--and they usually NAIL it!!! Now, we are paying $25 for a crankbait with a perfect finish. These lures are burned by the fish and they strike it out of reaction. I think we're being duped!! Does the fish really see the details that we pay LuckyCraft or Jackal so dearly to put on their baits? I do have a few of the Japanese creations, but I have caught a lot more fish on Bandits and Bombers than those.
  22. public school. they just cram information into you to get you ready for tests. they don't teach you much. only stuff the school board says we need to know. public school education isnt much about the students benefiting, its about getting them to do well on tests so the school looks good. no child left behind sucks. My father is a retired public school teacher and I have heard everything wrong about schools and teachers, from the students!!!! I know this because they would gripe to me about how hard his class was and how much he expected from them. Anyway---If you didn't learn about how dispicable the Holocost was, then something is wrong. I doubt that any school or teacher would glance over the horrors of that this man and his ideals caused.
  23. I agree with the others, it's too long. Try tweaking a Resume template and a cover letter. This way you can list your accomplishments rather than creating a short story about yourself. It will look cleaner and your accomplishments will stand right out. Remember trying to gain sponsorship is much like trying to get a job, so treat it as such. You can fill in the rest when you get your phone call from them!! Remember too that pro-staff and sponsorships mean different things to different companies. Pro-staff will usually result in product only, which isn't at all bad! But if your actually looking for monetary gain you may want to stick to just asking for a sponsorship.
  24. I remember doing this before too! It's a good color, but no more important to have in your arsenal than any other color. I do think this is a clear case of an overhyped color--they are doing a good job at making people think this is the only color crankbait you need. Beyond the color---not a big fan of Strike King cranks.
