FLW on Versus
Is that any different than any other show. Shaw Grigsby does Triton and Quantum commercials during his show. And as we all know Charlie Ingram totes his Diamond crotch jeans during his show! Then there's Roland Martin....Bill Dance...the list goes on. Even my beloved Linder's show seems to be one big Rapala commercial now.

Anyone tried this JIG?
The same hook concept is on a frog and it doesn't seem to hurt the hook-up ratio.Compare frog hook up rates to jig hook up rates among those that can fish BOTH well. I think the actual hook-up ratio isn't bad on frogs. You usually miss them on frogs because they don't take the bait in. I think with a bass sucking that jig in, the second hook won't be a problem. I do agree with *** in that you may get hung up more. This why when you're frogging, you MUST use a follow up bait. And if a bass not completely taking the bait in doesn't constitute a "hook up" issue, then I must have a different definition. My definition of 'hook-up' ratio is how do the hooks perform once the fish takes the bait not weather or not they take the bait in or not. If they swipe and miss the bait completely, the hook is never a factor. I have lost very few fish on a frog if the fish actually eats the bait.

Spinnerbaits
Like the others are stating--you're using good brands. Lucky Craft put out a new spinnerbait, but you'll pay LC prices! I don't put too much credence in the head finish as far as well it will catch fish, but they look real nice. I make my own. This way you can have all the components (head color, blades, swivels, spacers, skirts) and combinations you want. Spinnerbaits are very easy to make too. Be forewarned---tacklemaking is as addictive as fishing!!

NFL Quarterbacks
It's not the idea of protecting the quarterbacks thats the issue, it's the enforcement. The officials call everything, but that doesn't mean that's what the rules are. Each official interprets the rules and enforces them by that interpretation. I don't mind the penalties as much as the fact they get fined for it. Leave it on the field unless it's a flagrant shot to the head or late hit, etc. Don't forget they have rules to protect linemen too. They eliminated cut-blocks years ago because linemen kept going down.

How bad would it be for Kim Bain to beat you in the classic?
This is my last post on this---I swear :-X Matt Fly, You won't change my mind and I won't change yours. I think she deserves to be there and the media time devoted to her does nothing bad for the sport as a whole. It may effect some of the lesser known men in the field, but so be it. I don't mean to sound mean about it, but people outside our circle don't care about the Federation guy--and most don't even know what that means. Someone qualifies from all the other series every year, so those guys aren't really a story in the eyes of the media. Realisitically, our sport is not like any other. The only people that really read the media exposure about the Classic are people like us, the ones who are in the sport. There are very few casual bass fishing fans. She will give, and has given, the sport exposure beyond the fishing industy boundries, which can do us all good. Afterall how many Classics have there been and this was the year they put something about it on the WORLD NEWS!!! It's because of her and her story.

Is this boat a steal?
Craigslist is full of scammers. I was trying to sell some stuff on there and I got someone trying to do the money order scam.

FLW team ??
Does anyone have any idea how the pros are chosen to be on one of the FLW sponsor teams (i.e. Chevy, National Guard etc)? I've been a fan of FLW since they took over the Red Man series, but I have never seen any info on how these guys are picked or what they receive from their sponsorship.

Roadwarrior closed a thread down because we were speaking negatively about the pros. Doesn't stating that Kim Bain is not worthy of her Classic berth constitute negativity?

FLW on Versus
It's confirmed that as of April FLW is going to be on the Versus channel. This should give everyone a better opportunity to see the FLW side and how good their anglers are. The FLW guys always seem to get a bad rap and I think it's undeserved.

-- NASCAR --
This year you won't have as many "filler" teams either, so it will be even more boring. I hate seeing the same three or four drivers win. NASCAR is no longer about the drivers talents, it's all about the equipment---and as everyone says here, the more money, the better your car. Stick to your local tracks---local racers do it for the love of racing. Near me, in Oswego, we have asphalt Supermodifieds. These things all major a--!! They broke the 16 second mark for a 5/8 oval. They're almost like sheetmetal Indy Cars.

How bad would it be for Kim Bain to beat you in the classic?
Easy Matt Fly---this is just a philosophical discussion and no reason to get all amped up about it! ;D Your point was that the Elites spend a lot more money in order to qualify. I was in no way stating the men from the other series don't deserve to get in there. If you notice they were in the form of a question. I was merely stating that there are spots open for male anglers that spend a lot less than the Elite guys and the WBT ladies. I know what it takes at every level to qualify, although I'm only in my mid thirities, I've been into this sport and fishing tournies since I've 16. My point was similar to Fatmanslim---they fished what they were given and made it in. They made it in because they earned what it took for them to get into the Classic according to the criteria they were given. Although I don't agree--I will give you props for being the first one to say she didn't earn it because she didn't fish against the men. I think that's what a lot of these guys want to say, but won't say it. As far as taking one spot away from the Elites---you know how you fix that---get enough points so your locked in!

How many batteries do I need?
I run two fishfinders, my GPS and the livewells for a full tournament day on one cranking battery. The electronics don't draw that much power. As someone else said for the trolling motor---1 battery p/12volts.

How bad would it be for Kim Bain to beat you in the classic?
The Weekend Series champ gets in The Classic and they only spend $1100 in entry fees for their entire season. Does the winner of this not deserve to be there since they didn't spend the money the Elite guys do?? I don't understand the "they didn't earn it". The women fish the trail they were given. They pay the entry fees and have to win a points battle. How did they not earn it?? The Open guys only fish three points tournaments, which is less than the women fish. Do the Open fisherman not earn their spot?

how do you all rig. . . . .
It's great as a jig trailor too. The "skirt" on the top of the hula grub adds a lot of color and bulk to the existing skirt. The tails, of course, add some great action.

city limits fishing
That is a great show! It's like Day on The Lake---no promoting products, just going out and fishing!!! I love the episode last year where is was fishing in NY City. It was hilarious to see him driving through Manhattan with his truck and bass boat!! It was as out of place as wearing shoulder pads to the grocery store!!

Annoying Elites?
I have heard some things from Dean Rojas that lead me to believe he might have an attitude as well---bwhat really bothers me about him is that he is a one-trick pony. Personally, I like Aaron and have met him at the Elite here at Oneida. I'm sure you have complained once or twice, at some point, about someone being on your spot! With that said, that shouldn't be an excuse. As an Elite pro, you should have more than 1 or 2 productive spots. After all, aren't they supposed to be able to take all these variables into consideration! With your comments about Dean, I'm surprised you like Skeet. I also met him at the Oneida Elite, and he was the only one that I could say copped an attitude. He was too cool for school!!!!

How bad would it be for Kim Bain to beat you in the classic?
I agree that men do not have inherent physical advantages over women in the sport of fishing. But if the playing field is so equal, why has a woman never qualified via the Opens, Fed Nation, Weekend Series, or Elite Series? (all of whom welcome participation by women.)

LaserLure
I almost started this link myself!!! They must have paid Ike and Boyd a buttload of cash--these lures have gimmick written all over them. It almost hurts that Ike and Boyd are sponsored by them, I just can't help but think it's all for the Benjamins. :'(

How bad would it be for Kim Bain to beat you in the classic?
OK--I'll bite!! First, this whole swing for the fence thing is ridiculous. Why wouldn't go after the biggest you can find in every tournament. Do you think any Pro goes out there and thinks 'ok, I have a few spots where I can nail the 2 pounders so I won't look for bigger fish.' When they don't catch the big fish it's not because they 'didn't swing for the fences' it's because they couldn't find 'em. Check out John Crew's website--he talks about the top 10 'catch phrases' that pros use when they don't find fish. It's pretty amuzing---and true!! Secondly, I don't think her being in the classic is going to change the way any of them fish. There is just too much on the line---no pun intended!! Lastly, in fishing I wouldn't mind being beaten by a girl. It's one of the few sports where I truly believe you're on an equal playing field. Now if I got beat by a girl playing football---that would be a different story!! ;D
