Rapala X-Rap Subwalk
Tucson, I see you're from AZ. It is not anything like an xrap in my opinion. I actually haven't thrown it for bass, but it is lethal for northern pike up at lake mary in Flagstaff.

Zoom Swimming Super Fluke
Skinny dippers are expensive...I'll change to zoom if they can compete in quality and price!

Jigging spoons flutter vs clunkers
Anybody ever try the War Eagle Jiggin' Spoon? It's sort of like a strata or hopkins but comes with Gamakatsu treble hook and a swivel attached to eliminate line twist. I just ordered a few but haven't tried them out yet...they look like they could be winners.

Florida Fishing Suggestions, Experiences, and Guides??
Hey guys, Thanks for all the responses. It looks like I am definitely going to try to do either Biscayne Bay or Flamingo for some flats fishing. Biscayne Bay would be really convenient, but is Flamingo better?? I'll probably just call a few guides and see what they recommend in mid February. I'm still going to try to work in a day of bass fishing. Thanks for the suggestion and feel free to keep them coming. Thanks.

Florida Fishing Suggestions, Experiences, and Guides??
Hey guys, I'm going to be in the Fort Lauderdale area for a few days in mid February. I'll have a couple days open to get out and do some fishing. I won't have a boat or any tackle with me so I am looking to do the guide thing. I will have a rental car so I can drive a few hours if need be. I'm thinking about doing one day of bass fishing and one day of inshore/flats fishing for tarpon, snook, redfish, and/or bonefish. Any recommendations on where to go and what guide services to use? Any and all suggestions would be helpful. Would love to hear any personal experiences with guides as well. I've always wanted to fish Florida...I'm so excited...just want to make sure I get a good guide on good water. Thanks

Cavitron Buzzbaits
RoadWarrior, Do you fish the black on black anytime you don't have direct sunlight (early morning, cloudy days, shade, sunset, night) or even on sunny days? I've always stayed away from black except for night, but might have to give one a try for other conditions.

Dock Fishing Lures And Tips?
A shallow crank tuned to run to the left or right can be deadly. Not many people get a crank actually under a dock, and this way it will constantly smack into each piling if it isn't a floating dock. Give it a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Problem Casting Flourocarbon
Soaking any "cat gut" in hot water before spooling will eliminate those coils, never seen it fail. I'll have to give that a try. Smallie, I'm right there with you. I've never been able to tame fluoro on a spinning reel!! But braid with a fluoro leader works great, although I'd rather have straight fluoro if I could figure out how to make it work.

on bed.....no bite??
I was out bed fishing with a friend pretty recently, and we where throwing similar jigs to the same bed with one major difference. He had a rattling jig and the bedding fish clearly preferred the rattle. I think it is worth a shot especially since you didn't throw anything at them with a rattle. Good Luck!

Minnkota EDGE 55
If you can handle the two batteries for a 24 volt system, then you should check out the Minn Kota Edge 65 at Bass Pro. They are selling it for $430 and you can get a rebate of $30. So it is only $400.

On Board Charger?
What is a good on board charger that can handle two group 29 batteries and recharge them within 8 hours?

Knot for spook and sammy?
Works for me...and will allow me to change up without having to retie!! Thanks

Anyone use these?
Bass Pro calls them vertical drop hooks, but they are just a weighted EWG hook and I originally bought them for using with flukes. I guess they are just a basic swimbait hook with an offset instead of screw loc or keeper?

Anyone use these?
I'll have to try fishing them some more, but I might feel the same way. The ones I bought are only 3/16 ounce, so I have been using them in more of a finesse presentation.

Knot for spook and sammy?
So I went out today and tried a direct tie, a loop knot, and a snap, and I couldn't really see any significant differences. They all seemed to work well, so I guess I'll probably just use a direct tie or a snap. I like the idea of a loop knot, but I have heard of too many people having knot failure with it.

Knot for spook and sammy?
Is it better to use a loop knot, regular knot, or a snap with these baits?

Anyone use these?
Bass pro had these weighted ewg hooks and I bought some for use with a fluke if I want it weighted, but I tried it on a tube and then used it on a skirted double tail grub, and they are great. The tubes action on these is great and it even gives it a little shimmy on the fall. Also, these seem to be great in place of a jighead or even instead of texas rigged. So, anyone fish any plastics on these other than swimbaits?

Palamar Question
Tucson, When cinching up this knot, make sure that the loop that the hook went through tightens around the lowest part of the Knot and not against the main line. That should help you out.

G Splash
I'll have to check that out. I haven't seen one of those yet. Thanks

G Splash
For those who use the Lucky craft Gsplash...what size do you prefer?
- JERKBAITS!!

JERKBAITS!!
I have heard that other lures will usually produce better, but since I have started throwing hard jerkbaits, they have been out producing everything else. I can't argue with that. Any other jerkbaits that people love?
-
JERKBAITS!!
I just came down with jerkbait fever after my last successful trip with a new Xrap and now I am wondering what great jerkbaits I have been missing out on all along. So, what are your favorite--can't live without--jerkbaits? I need to expand my collection!!

BBZ vs Tru Tungsten vs Sebile Swimmer
I have both the TT and the BBZ. I much prefer the BBZ. I personally think the TT is very poorly crafted and the 3 baits in one is really a joke. Even with both balls in the sinking version, it sinks incredibly slow. Plus, I will probably never change out the balls again because their pin system is terrible. I haven't used the Sebile, but I have heard good things about it so I would pick up either the BBz, the Sebile, or both.
